just a note, and most people know i keep fairly honest observations(even though i’m in tosf)
event: the 5v5 was scheduled at orbit, so it was obvious it was gonna be on jap sticks. you guys still talked smack about how you would own up any tosf players at the 5v5(which was on JAP STICKS)
result: you guys lost, tosf brags, and some of you (not all) bring up american sticks and how you own up on them
question: why bring up american sticks?
answer: cuz you lost to ppl better than you (on jap sticks fine)

Who won the pool on how fast Matt would use the words “big deal” and “I don’t care” and “Jap sticks.” We all had that quick convo just before leaving ORBIT last night.
Bottom line, the sticks don’t mean jack. Issac I could see it being an issue, he NEVER touches Jap sticks outside of the two times he’s been up here (great chillin with you man, have one of the Sauga guys give you my number and I’ll send you info on poker games around the GTA before you leave). But everyone else really doesn’t have an excuse, at least not one that holds up anymore. It’s not like we haven’t had at least one tournament EVERY MONTH for the last THREE YEARS (a small exaggeration before people try to pull a literal quote thinking they’re funny) on Japanese sticks.
The talent wins the matches. When you look at CvS2, players like Roger and Eric win time and time again on jap sticks, US sticks, crappy US sticks (read Skybox) because they have the talent to hold it down. In Marvel, Bryan and Gerjay get it done time and time again on jap sticks, and at Skybox (whose cabinet I actually like) because their talent carries them through.
The 5 on5 really boiled down to the collective talent of TOSF vs Bryan & Gerjay with the guys they beat own 90% of the time filling in the spots. When all the shit hit the fan, the first people to talk shit were Poeta and Matt. Why? They don’t hold it down in most tournaments, ESPECIALLY in ORBIT so why talk the shit? I had to pull Bryan aside when it was starting to get stupid in that thread and tell him to shut everyone up because he was going to look like an idiot when it was all said and done. Now look what’s happened. Not only did Sauga lose (Bryan was fucking clutch though as usual, to the surprise of no one) but they were made to look dumb in the process. Their apparent 3rd best player went 0 FOR 5! The guy who talked the most shit out of everyone DIDN’T EVEN ENTER! The only guy in Sauga I give mad props to was Clutch Quarry because he was FUCKING RUST and when you see his matches you’ll see he
A) Lost by a pixel to ROC at the absolute last second (00 timer)
B) Had a perfectly legit shot of beating Stephen
C) SMACKED JON!
D) Beat Eric (perspective on the win changes depending on the person)
Everyone else was a thorough disappointment in the face of how much playtime people get compared to TOSF who (ROC) people didn’t even think should be on the team, a guy who hates Marvel in Stephen, a guy who had to be dragged kicking and screaming to play a game he’s trying to leave in Jonstar and two solid - great players in Eric and Nathan.
The truth is harsh.
