yeah… i had a debate with a college friend of mine on facebook (he was a liberal… has since fallen off the deep end into a hardcore libertarian) who was arguing with me that taxes are theft, because he had a gun to his head to pay them. When i argued there is no gun, and only a few states even go so far as to arrest you, he goes on a diatribe about how “they have a gun to my house because eventually when i don’t pay and they show up at my house, when i pull my gun out and tell them to get off my property are they going to shoot me?”
it’s like… once you shoot at the police or point your gun at them, it doesn’t matter what you did prior, the cops are highly likely to shoot at you just for having presented that level of a threat to them.

They shoot two women in a car that does not fit the description at all without even getting a positive ID and then shoot, kill a guy who was RUNNING AWAY from them and now they fucking illegally burned down a house trying to kill a guy who was in no way convicted so is still innocent. Bolded part is that the guy doesn’t understand that if you shoot at the cops or threaten their lives, they’re within the law to use lethal force. You don’t need to go through due process when you are a present, lethal danger to an officer, which was the case since Dorner had already wounded two cops and killed one in this shootout. Guy was just being an idiot. This is pretty basic knowledge.

Basically how I feel about it. If he kept the beef towards the people actually (not related to someone) in the LAPD that wronged him I wouldn’t have as big of a problem with this whole thing, but that’s now how it played out. It sometimes feels like the innocent’s lives are just being glossed over in this whole discussion on the net and it irks me a little. This isn’t the only case/situation/war I feel this way about though.
At the same time, the corruption is obvious. I don’t doubt that what he described about the LAPD is true. This world is ass, and there are a shit load of issues that have to be addressed.

lets say for the sake of argument, bad cops are the outliers and the vast majority are honest and want to help. there is a huge problem with the relationship between cops and citizens when such a large number of people are showing support for a murderer because of his willingness to kill cops.
I can’t say I’ve had a single positive experience with an American cop, and I’d imagine a lot of people in this thread would say the same. It’s not nearly enough for me to wish for their death, but imo its a problem when people’s only expectation from police is getting hassled or their ass beat.
I won’t doubt that, it’s just people here grouping other departments into one
Seriously sbsd is full of great guys, lol my whole gym is made up of riverside and sanberdo sheriffs, so this kind of hits close to home for me.

On the flip side, could it be that a “large number of people showing support for a murderer” are more vocal than those that aren’t? I mean, when 9/11 happened, people that spouted conspiracy theories were more heard than people that believed the attacks were real. Just something to think about.
As for my experience with cops, I’ve had a few run ins. Most of the time I’ve had pleasant experiences with police. The only two times the cops were pricks were one time when my friends and I were coming home from a tournament, friend got pulled over for speeding, the cops were very standoffish/rude when we were all but respectful. The second time was, coincidentally, in LA where my friend and I were standing in dark, empty lot, across from the parking lot where my friend’s car was parked. We were on our way to the convenience store nearby when some asshole was tearing through the parking lot in his car; friend was worried about his own car getting hit so we were watching for a moment. Cop happened to roll up and thought we were up to no good. Guy was kind of a prick but let us go without incident.
