For a while now, I’ve noticed something weird that occassionally happens at random points in (U)MVC3. Sometimes I’ll activate a TAC, but the next character on my team list doesn’t come out, it’s someone else.
Here’s an example. If I’m running Spider-Man, Ryu, and Captain America, in that order at a point in a match, I’ll use Spider-Man to TAC to Ryu. But then for some odd reason Ryu will TAC back to Spider-Man, not to Captain America. I haven’t exactly tested if this weird TAC occurence would switch to Ryu or Cap in the next TAC because I often mess up my combos due to it being unexpected or see an opportunity to do good damage despite it and go into Super. It can’t because of a left over assist attack, because I use assists very rarely and they’re never active when this happens. This has happened to me randomly using multiple teams, so I’m beginning to wonder if there’s some weird trick I didn’t know about that allows you to pick who to TAC or perhaps this is a glitch of some sort. It happened to me a few times in vanilla as well.
Anyone know anything about this or have experienced this themselves?
If you call an assist and try to TAC shortly after, your assist is still on Cooldown for a split second while your 3rd character is not, so it switches to your 3rd AFAIK, that is the one of the only ways i’ve seen that happen. I recall there being character specific methods of doing this but no, I don’t believe you can actually pick what character to TAC into unless you do something weird like that.
Your post also seemed to indicate that you weren’t very sure, and aren’t able to exactly pinpoint a specific situation where this occurs. Its very likely that you just don’t notice.
Record it. As far as I know, and I am going to believe it to be factual until shown otherwise, you only switch to the third character when you call an assist
EDIT: Or, if you have landed mid TAC and TAC’d back to your next character.
For instance: Ryu TAC to Zero, Zero Command Dash Down, S, TAC back to Ryu.
Nope. This happens all in the air when it happens to me. It has happened to me twice over the weekend. One time I did TAC when it happened and it went from Spider-Man to Ryu and back to Spider-Man.
I would record it… But it happens at completely random times and I have no equipment to record games with.
They don’t have to be active. If you call your assist at any time after your combo starts, it’ll ignore that character on the TAC. Let’s say you do a combo, accidentally call Captain America because your finger slipped, and then TAC. It’ll go to whoever was next. Or let’s say you start a combo with Spiderman’s capture assist and then TAC 20 hits later, it’ll skip Spiderman.
