Hello SRK.
I have chosen some of my favorite characters, and I have come up with two assists. Now, all I’ve got to do is choose a point character, but I have no idea who to choose. What are some basics to choosing a point char?
All the characters you choose will be point chars eventually.
True. :o
Okay, here’s what I’m thinking, based on that.
Jill (A)/Rogue (A)/Venom (A)
Jill’s projectiles and such will keep the opponents on the run, with either/both Rogue and Venom being sufficient emergency attack when the enemy gets too close.
From there, I would assume I would only be using the other two when Jill is dead. If there is a Snapback or something, then Jill would have Heal assist for healing and because the other assists kinda stink. Venom would have Rogue’s AAA, so he would pretty much be set. Rogue would have Venom for a hit every now and then, but as far as I remember, I can work with Rogue enough to the point where I don’t really need assists.
This is all based on what I’ve read around the site and what I remember from playing the game when I was 10, I’m getting it again soon. So for a returning beginner, would this be an okay team to start from scratch with?
sure, learning the basics of the game with the lower tiers is best that way when you start playing the tops, (And Believe me you will if you play long enough), you understand the way the game works, but then seeing it in more advanced applications.
Try to decide on your team who is your main tank. In my team of Omega Red-B/Samurai-Y/Anakaris-Y, Anakaris is my tank. Sure you would think Band aid boy is slow and takes hit like shit, but he is a like a ghetto magneto/storm. my meter builer is Omega Red as well as my keep away char and ace in the hole. The Samurai is the one who burns meter and is used in certain situations.
This is what you should decide for your team, decide on their role, and see how they benefit each other. PUttin Doom, Cable, Iceman may seem like a godly idea, but how long do you think this team would last, neither can build meter very good. And all 3 are prone to rushdown, and Iceman sucks other than his Icebeam.
All characters are good on the right teams. Hell even Servbot, his chip is amazing and his small size makes it nearly impossible for people to do regular combos, he owuld benefit a team like maybe Sent and … BH? w/e u want. Experiment wiht ur team and c how they help eahother out.
Felicia is probably the best point character. You can DHC into anything after her Dancing Flash because of its long stun.
…
Felicia?
You must know very little about this game, in which case, you shouldn’t be posting wrong and silly information thru these boards, got it?
RedSilverAnakris sumed it up very well.
You must know very little about this game if you’re overlooking characters like Felicia. Aside from being a great point character, her HP throw builds a full meter if you mash and her Please Help Me does insane amounts of damage no matter where it is in a combo. The problem with this board is that people are overlooking diamonds in the ruff like her in favour of powerful assists. Felicia could easily wipe them out in a one-on-one, and you can take that to the bank, ParryPerson.
I’m sure you get all kinds of amazing comp in Belgium and all, so I guess you’re right.
I value you each of you guys’ opinions equally, so there’s no need to fight. D: To each their own.
Another question, though; what’s a battery and how do you know if you could use a character as one?
Touch. I’ve never even seen the frickin’ thing in the arcades here. In fact, I’ve never even seen an arcade here! They’ve all but vanished in central Europe.
A battery is a char you can use to build meter, sometimes some char’s can be used as battery as well as other things. Like take Sent/Strider/Doom, in that case, Sent is kinda used as a battery to get some meter (as well as beast) for Strider. Magneto is also a great battery, as he doesn’t even need meter to do damage.
A good battery would be something like Spiral/Sent in Spiral/Sent/Cable.
Any point char that builds alot of meter is a good “Battery”.
Oh, I get it now. Thanks.
a battery is a character that builds meter quick, or fights without using one( unless they are going for a DHC), that way another character on the team can use them.
example would be Spiral/Cable/Sentinel.
this team is best used IMO by duc do, he will use spiral’s swords/ with drones to produce lockdowns that build alot of meter while traping the oppenent.
spiral usually will use no meter unless like i said going for a dhc, example would be on this team Spiral to cable ( example, Spiral hp+ Drones, wait till the drones are slightly a character lenght away then do the QCF super, while she does the super the drones will hit the oppenent giving her super enough time to connect then dhc to HVB.)
on this team tho most of the time you will see more of the Alpha-Counter into CableXX AHVB, because it’s safe, cable should come in with atleast 2 meters, and close to getting the thrid one.
But like i Said a battery is in General a character that either preserves meter or builds it before attack like Storm.
Storm is a more complex example, most of the time you will see people doing either sj hp, Dash downbackwards…er defensive crouching ( i don’t know the exact word so help me guys) Anyway thats one way of doing it with storm, or sj hp, dash up hp, hp , hp , hp, lightining attack in 3 ways, last way ending to the roof, then hp hp some more on the way down.
as you can see the purpose is to gain meter before the attack.
however like i said storm is alittle more complex, i generally think it’s best to do the sj hp, dash defensive crouching hp while on the sj calling drones so i can see the way my oppenent reacts while being safe ( i do this mostly to mags, and other storms, not so much on sentinel, and NEVER on cable, on him and sentinel you can do the sj to the roof verison.) But alot of the times i rather attack and find opening to do mix ups with also build meter, and cause the damage quicker in the match. However i believe that prolonging contact with the oppenent will make them more impatient…couchmagentocouch…and make it easier sometimes to get a mistake out of them.
well i hope this helps, oh yeah parryperson, Glitcher…Group Hug…:lovin:
The best batteries in the game are by far Spiral, Omega Red. These 2 have attacks taht build meter to Max within 5 game time seconds flat, and both are excellent keepaways and have pretty decent normal attacks and Special attacks.
How does Omega and Spiral “build” meter in 5 sec.
??? well i was exagerating about the 5 seconds part, still, they build it faster than any one in the game. And what do you mean how do they “build”. Whenever I hav Omega on point, within 10 game seconds I already have 3 meteres.
Wow, instead of building 4 meters in 5 game ticks, he now builds 2 meters in 10 game ticks. lol
Sentinel IS MvC2!!!
yeah but what do you mean tho, how do you build the meters, do you just beat down everyone with Omega and the combos and shit build the meter, cause that possible with everyone.
what i was wondering was if omega had something like storms meter build where she sj hp, then trijumps backdown another hp over and over.
