Chinua Achebe, African Literary Titan, Dies at 82

Man, the center could not hold.

Didn’t read that. Was it AIDS?

It was AIDS, right?

My heart goes out to the fans of whoever this guy is and whatever he did.

SRK: Illiterate niggas at their finest.

Things Fall Apart. A great novel that I was glad I was made to read in junior high. Sad news. R.I.P.

You really expect the average SRK forum troll to actually read? The longest thing most of these fools have ever read is probably one of your own posts.

This. Glad that I had to read it back in university. Great novel. Sad to hear of his passing. R.I.P.

Things Fall Apart definitely was one of those memorable readings from my college days. I recommend it to anyone interested in broadening their horizons. However, it’s may get interesting when the people calling others “illiterate niggas” realize that Chinua Achebe died back in 2013. -_-

It’s all fun and games when Hollywood legend Paul Walker dies, but this isn’t a time for irreverence.

An old novelist died. Show some respect.

Two years isn’t enough time to mourn.

Nobody got time for that. On the lol side, I probably made the OG thread a few years back. On the real though, I checked the date and swore I read 2015. Hooray for possible undiagnosed brain issues.

(And 2015 continues to get ever shittier.)

Never read any of his books unfortunately, but I remembered they sold well back when I used to work at a bookstore. He also seemed a more than decent guy from what I little I knew about him. R.I.P.

Between Sir Pratchett just dying and the superstition that people have about the whole “Rule of Three” working even for death, I have to wonder if this means some other (fiction) novelist will die relatively soon. If so, then please take whoever wrote Fifty Shades of Grey so that we don’t get a pointless sequel to it, Sir Death.

RIP CHILDHOOD RUINED 2015 WORST YEAR OF ALL TIME CUZ FAMOUS PPL DYING

A shame none of my classes ever touched/mentioned any of his work. Makes me sad that great black literature isn’t in high demand in our public school curriculum.

He died like 2 years ago. Did I fall into a parallax or something?

This is a good display of instant karma in effect.
