Chinatown Fair SSF4 AE Tournament - Chinatown, NY - 02/09/11

Sry for double posting

Henry Cen- Last time I was at CF I was yelled at by you for sitting in a chair. Would you have a problem if I brought my own chair to sit in?

Is there anyway to make this event free play during the tourney only? By charging a little extra like $15($10 for tourney/$5 for the arcade)?

Also if the venue fee is for the TO/organizer’s/streamer’s is there anyway to have them just voluntary run this event to avoid a venue fee?

Thx for the response’s

lol

The whole point in pay-per-play is because the arcade machines are very expensive and the money needs to be made back that the arcade spent on the cabs/boards.

Yes to the 1st question
No to the 2nd

Wednesday is when we did Guard Crush and it worked for a lot of people.

Sorry if it doesnt work for u, but it worked for a lot of other poeple

Here’s an idea. How about instead of giving all the money gathered from a tournament to the 1st 2nd and 3rd placers, maybe i should just keep the money for the house and tournament organizers. Why are the placers entitled to 80% of the money while the organizers only get 20%?(even that much gets the bitching of a lot of community members)

If its really too much to pay 2 dollars out of 10 to us, the ones who are running shit? If its is, then just stay home and play console.

Mike G keeping shit real.

Game, set, match…

so much complaing and demands, be happy that this is the closest AE cabnit i live in MA and will be traveling in april, if its too “expensive” to do it then dont do it, its for people who can afford it,

mike g my recommendation is stream the event but with no oni or evil ryu, or even better keep the footage on ustream or justintv, i thnk your safe putting it there, or even better, make a new account that you dont care about post it and if it gets banned so be it. the fans want to see the footage, give what the fans want. spookys been doin great job on the streams. keep up the good work

Don’t be getting mad. You were doing fine, but stay cool. People are just wondering where the venue fee $$ is gonna go to if you end up not streaming. You? That’s cool, but tourney organizers used to do it for love of the game and not for profit, but I guess that was a long time ago and times are changing now. Are you also gonna allow yourself to enter the tournament for a chance at the pot $$ too?

Let’s put it like this. All you have to do is show up, pay, and play. That’s it.

TO’s need to make sure everything is square at the venue before hand. Talk to people, promote, flyers, keeping up to date on a thread, answering questions etc etc. The people who stream have to lug all of their equipment, that first off cost hundreds, if not thousands of dollars. All on their own dime, trains/cabs/traveling. Then they go home and spend hours upons hours uploading, editing, and naming footage. All for you! And at which point do you think you should feel entitled to be provided all these services for free?

All they are asking for is two measly fucking dollars to cover the time and cost that they have already invested. If you cant cough that up you shouldn’t be playing games and focus more on getting some sort of employment.

I have every right to get mad.

And Henry already said where the money was going.

If you think i dont love doing it, then you’re wrong.

And of course im gonna enter to get a chance at that pot. DUHH!!!

There’s really no need to blow this out of proprotion, like Jason said I was just asking a question. I will leave it at that.

As for the tourney fee, the reason I was suggesting the idea was so the arcade could make money. Think about it if everybody payed $15(5 for tourney matches,2 for TO’s,8 for player’s) the arcade would make more money for the cabinet’s. If everybody play’s their matches 2 out of 3 then one match is $10 and the most player’s will be paying is $3 for the whole match(excluding WF,LF,GF) and the rest(about $7) would go to the arcade to make sure they make their money back even with the extra matches during WF,LF,GF. If 20 player’s entered the tourney then that would equal $100 altogether. If each game cost’s $1 and the TO’s only allow free play during the tourney then there’s no way the arcade should lose any money at all. If anything they would be earning alot more that way. I will say this again though this idea only applies to tourney matches, any casual’s before hand are the standard “pay for each game” so that way it doesn’t have to be monitored by anybody.

I understand about the work that the TO’s have to put in to make sure things run smoothly. I have been a TO since Vanilla and the begining of Super. I ran tourney’s in CT and I also believe Rahsaan has been to my tourney’s and EMP Andre(Digital Mayhem and Battlegrounds CT), I never got paid for it so I was just wondering about it. It’s great that you have player’s willing to compensate you by taking a small portion of the entry fee to the TO’s and anybody else running it. When I was into smash I was a TO for the community also but that was a long time ago.

Just in case player’s don’t understand because my writing skill’s aren’t that great I will make a quick version.

$15 tourney fee-($5 for tourney matches only,$8 for pot,and $2 for TO’s) if this happens then free play would only be on during the tourney. I would assume that everybody will respect the arcade and not sneak in any casual’s while it’s on free play.

I also don’t know how Henry runs things and maybe he would just want to have it pay for each game so he can track how much money the machine’s are making. I know how hard it can be to run an arcade(I used to go to TGA RIP) and it’s definitly hard and I would like to support it as much as possible. This is just my 2 cent’s that’s all.

Supportive player,

Vigilante

Why would u want the arcade to make more money? it seemed to me like you were previously trying to pinch every penny. I’m confused o_O

I spoke to Henry when we first talked about this tournament about adding a fee and setting them to free play but that cannot happen. They make more money on pay per play and with these cabs costing 5-digits, Henry gotta make that paper back.

Mike, my writing isn’t that great so I can see why you would think that but it wasn’t my intention to pinch every penny. If they make more money then the business has an easier time staying open. It’s something everybody know’s and I am just trying to help.

I was able to get work off so I should be able to show up and play. I was wondering though when do you expect this tourney to end? I need to see if I will need housing for this.

IDK, it all depends on how many people show up. It could run late like 10-12midnight, but again, it all depends on how many entrants and if everyone shows up on time.

Then I might have to since I would probably be taking the fen wah bus into Chinatown. I don’t believe they have a bus that goes back to MA at that time.

Thx for the info

so again i ask is there any way we can get this stream even if we dont let oni and evil playable? i dont think that they will pull the plug for just showing those 2 on the character screen. and if its that serious they can just show the players at that time of character select!!!

stream this shit!!! HOW MANY AE TOURNEYS ARE BEING STREAMED!!!

Bump

And spooky doesnt know if he can/will be able to stream this due to the capcops causing their hissyfits and spooky not sure if he can stream off of those cabs. I’ll have an answer for you in the upcoming days.

Will the matches be recorded if Spooky won’t/can’t stream the tournament?

I doubt it. If he can’t stream but you want matches recorded, I suggest someone pull out a camera phone or something.
