I donāt know what heās talking about. It could be worse. At least itās pretty diverse. Not everyone plays top tiers.
I think what heās trying to say is that we have a lot of people who play right now, so itās easy to find competition, but weāre not at a high enough level yet to play confidently in other areas. And Iām against tier whoring but the lack of top tiers definitely isnāt helping us get any better.

Well, not everyone has top of the line execution to work with. Like, you go for Claw instead of Ryu in ST because there isnāt much to really practice with Claw. Its really all dependant of the player themselves and how much willing they are to work to win. I switched to Slayer because Johnny was a lot of work compared to Slayer.
And as for the scene: I said it was weird because not everyone in the EC GG scene is okay in the brain. See: Jamie Austin for more on the matter.

the problem with tier whoring in GG is the top 4 characters actually require some forms of skill to use. then you get to potemkin.
solution: more people should use potemkin.
gg costs 30 dollars for ps2 and learning combos will pretty much be 50% of your game if not more considering youāll be playing people who drop more combos than a crackhead with arthritis and parkinsons.
in gg, you NEED to know combos, itās an absolute requirement, and youāll be fighting people like me who can actually do some advanced shit, unlike the 50 testament fobs who dont know what a tigerknee badlands is who you will beat for free once you learn some B&Bs and mixups. however, choose any character except maybe bridget or johnny.
also to anyone trying to pick up gg: remember that basically the worst matchups in the game are 6 - 4. thatās a disparity generally held exclusively between top tiers in capcom games. in gg the worst character vs the best character is 6 - 4, and strangely enough, some characters have ADVANTAGES vs top tiers (axl, baiken and pot respectively have advantages vs testament eddie and slayer) pick who you like and you can win in america
