Chicks, Kicks & Flicks - The Chun-Li Video Thread

The videos is bugged, Im reauploading it.

The Akuma assist helps me in a LOT of situations, specially because it locks the opponent down, so I can go for an instant overhead, even tho Im not used to do it often, but I did it in a few upcoming videos.

Also, Akuma’s tatsumaki makes my SBK even safer.
He also helps Ryu with keepaway and lockdown, and thats basically what I need for my team.
Not to mention he is a formidable anchor.

Its a little harder comboing after the assist’s Tatsumaki, but its still an amazing assist.
I just need time to figure out more situations on where I can combo off of it.

That bnb is the one I was talking about some time ago.
Quite easy to do, free 750k damage with one bar.
Max I got was 100k more with both assists.

God, I honestly don’t know what we’d do without you.

http://www.twitch.tv/vgbootcamp/b/306203980 Playing some casuals at xanadu with unknown. His nemess owned me. lol, how do i escape that throw set up? I did one of my new bnb on there, drop a lot of combos though due from playing from xbox to ps3. Match starts at 28.00

Haven’t even finished watching the video yet but daaaaamn Lud is exposing Unknown.
Sick combo @ 30:29.

The Lud:
cr.:m: st.:h: xx :hcf:+:h:~:h: (crumple),
st.:m: st.:h: xx :dp:+:l:, j.:s: xx (air) SBK :h:, (ground) Lightning Legs :h:,
cr.:h: xx TK EX-SBK, Lightning Legs :h: xx :qcf:+:atk::atk:

Edit: re Nemesis grab…
There are 2 grab setups, but I think the air one is what’s giving you issues. Nemesis air grab setup is basically a 50/50. He’ll either M command grab (20 frame startup) you or st.H (armor on 10th frame). Assuming you’re close enough, Chun’s j.M should beat both setups clean.
He can’t do the setup reliably without Sentinel assist covering him, so punishing a bad assist call could avoid the situation all together.
So there’s 2 major options:
1.) Play extremely lame and wait for 3 meters to gib Sentinel with Storm DHC. You have the advantage of knowing that he NEEDS Sentinel to perform the setup safely.
2.) Ride his ass and push buttons all day knowing yours are faster. Note that his L command grab (the ground one) is only 7 frame startup, so stick to harassing him with instant overheads, like in the Sentinel matchup.

At point blank range (or just outside normal throw range), cr. M beats all his ground options and j.M beats all his air options.
Oh and there’s the option of an extremely well timed advancing guard, but this becomes impractical because of the drones hitting you.

I dont know who you are helping, but when you need to deal with anyone + drones, what I usually do is jump around [you can get 4 jumps by using he wall jump] + 3 tenshoukyakus. You can keep jumping to avoid the drones and call an assist to punish Nemesis right before you cross him up by jumping. That way, he’ll call the assist less often.

If he keeps calling Sentinel’s drones, you also have the option to hit them both after your million jumps…

Watch this match and I think it will become a little more clear for you:

Nothing enormously practical, but re-posting from the SRK front page for posterity.

It’s an exciting day to be a Chun player.

Was responding to Lud’s comment about Nemesis command grab setups.

I’ll take a look at the video. Although repeatedly jumping around him at a range that could cross him up leaves you open to the M and H grabs.

You’re right, but jumping around waiting for a chance to get in has become a common behavior, so I suppose that would be “easy” for me to dodge… I suppose… lol
Maybe you guys should try it.

Lud, I’ve watched your matches, and I’ve noticed two things:

  • You rushdown way too much
  • You accidently triggers the legs a lot of times

My suggestions about your playing:

  • I’d rush more with the drones covering me too, but I still believe you need to use more her mobility, wich seems you barely do.
  • I’d take more advantage of her cr.M combined with a dash. You’re doing too many air dashes and they have become REALLY unsafe. If you want to do an air dash, dont jump. Super jump instead. It allows you to air dash closer to the ground. It’s as fast as most overheads.
  • Watch out with your multiple air dashes and nonstop rush down, I suppose they are the reason of your accidental legs.
  • If you manage to corner your opponent and they need to block the drones, all you have to do is keep the pressure with Cr.M AND instant stomp kick.

I think you’re confusing Unknown with Lud.

i play chun/storm/nova, i don’t believe i mash legs, my finger get too tired from doing that.

Yeah, my mistake xD
Sorry, Lud.

Just posting to say, that X-Factor sped-up taunt. I should consider doing that more often…

More matches, but this one is kinda awkward =S

Someone actually submitted this for the front page. We might be running it.

What front page?

SRK’s

Wow, that’s… really cool!
I’ve got better matches on my channel… but anyway, thats really great =)
If you do take it to the front page, can you please tell we’re from Brazil?

It’s still a nice display of what Chun is capable of now in Ultimate. But yea the other guy being subpar made it awkward. Anytime you see Chun dominating Dante, something is wrong lol.

I’m still not sold on the Akuma assist man. I think we might just have to agree to disagree on this one.
I think you got 1 conversion off it the whole match and other assists could be doing so much more for you.

Yeah, but somehow, Akuma has a good DHC, an awesome defensive assist, he can keep my SBK even safer, he has Shoryuken, he is awesome anchor and can deal high damaging combos.
Might not be the best for Chun Li, but it works just like I want.

My main focus with this team is to keep my characters safe. Thats why I do a Hoyokusen when someone blocks my SBK. They usually try to punish, and if they do, they get caught. If they dont, I can DHC and stay safe.
Chun Li’s assist make my “random” Shoryuken safe too. Basically, all my characters can spam their moves and stay safe, it just depends on my ability to judge if the time is right or not.

Hey Brian, congrats on making the front page

I’ll put the video (and last weeks) in the OP later today.

(If you’re wondering where I disappeared to this time, I’ve had several deals fall through and work has been top priority. Eating comes before Marvel… heh).
