I have an alternative mindset on my career. Money-wise, my current career path will take me to a very comfortable income in the coming years so long as I stick with it. I suspect that if I’m doing what I’m doing now by the time I’m 30, I’ll be living pretty comfortably. Hell, in two years, if I play my cards right, I should be significantly better off than I currently am.
However, I always viewed work like this as a gateway into exploring other options, with potential income benefits. Making a steady income instantenously opens up options that have nothing to do with your career, and that’s always how I kind-of viewed it. A sort-of, get your foot in the door, and then begin trying things that appeal to you on a more personal basis. Whether it be through art, gambling (hehe), day-trading, etc. So I’m not too concerned in general about climbing the corporate ladder. Plus, I don’t want to lose my soul. 
Capcom actually offered Daigo Umehara to join the company as a full-time employee in the past. He turned it down, however.

A good friend of mine is still going through those actuarial exams, I feel bad at how much that dude studies for that shit…and he’s had a full time job for a couple of years now at an insurance firm.
Although i can’t feel too bad, dude gets a + to his salary every time he gets through an exam. by the time he’s done he’ll easily outclass my salary
