lol at syxx’s podcast thingie…i like how all u do threw out the whole thing is downgrade anything ive done…you mention how that tourny you lost to me was sooo close and how big an accomplishment that was but yet fail to mention i dont even play the game…you say "antwan is extremely good but the thing about ari is he doesnt do anything special…anyone can do what he does…"yet ive been consistant for YEARS…without even playing seriously for a LOT of that time…sorry but antwan is not good on a national level at all…hes on the same level as the 2nd tier of the mw…everyone in the mw needs to step their shit up in this game…i just hate your attitude and how you think youre actually good at your shitty game that no one even plays…when you lose to people that dont even play…cant even get top 10 at mwc…and now you cant even win the chicago tournys that used to be free for u…u wernt a good tekken player…you arnt a good st/hdr player…you arnt a good player in general and i doubt youll be a good player at t6 either…you really need to have a more humble attitude especially when youre talking about other people or else this shit is going to keep happening
that just happened
Ive had mucho beer tonight.
And a 30 inch Pizza.
wow floe… that’s the harshest thing ive ever seen in this thread. now i’m interested in that podcast.
also good news i am now nocturnal, have no job/school, have a bunch of audiobooks i want to listen to, and have sfiv on my PC meaning i am going to be practicing my combos an unreasonable amount, so hopefully ill stop being a combo dropping, electricity spamming scrub soon. also im switching to ryu cuz i want to learn basic stuff and play a character whos stuff would actually work on good players more than once.
and now im listening to websters…well see if i have another post in about an hour!
Friday night at Gameworks was shitty for me…and I was about to get myself into a fight with someone too…fuck all that noise…
Oh, god…
This again.
Also, 30 inch pizza. WTF.
I think you took it the wrong way, I would have hoped you took it as props as I acknowledged your ability and status as the top 2d player in the area and probably the midwest. I was just furthering my point that if you work hard at a particular game you can be one of the best. I think you might have been listening to it with perhaps the wrong attitude, so maybe it was just a misunderstanding.
I was terrible at tekken 5 for awhile, it was the first fighting game I picked up to play in tournaments after all, and didn’t turn things around until E11 where I got top 10 out of 80 people and won all my money matches… and around the time DR just came out but I got much better at that point… but you weren’t around then so maybe you just don’t know. I only played you once at the stupid ACEN tournament so I guess that would be how you gauge my ability in the game, since it was just a casual tournament anyway… and I always thought casuals didn’t matter. I did really well around the time DR was new but I was playing a lot more than I had ever been.
Anyway just so you understand the main point is that I acknowledge how far ahead you are of most or probably every one but people shouldn’t be discouraged and keep playing so they can get as good as you are.
Oh and cut me a break, the dude that won the last screenz tournament got 2nd at the last two and has been practicing a lot to finally win won. Meanwhile not only did my PS3 break but I was in the hospital for a week before going to that tournament. The guy who won the small tournament at Fight it Out is good also, he beat Antonio at the last tournament we had in Racine, and that was the same day I played Antonio in a MM and beat him, and there was no excuse at that point because I know he was practicing hard with Joe since there was a decent amount of money on the line… well in wisconsin money anyway.
And I only said what I posted here months ago, that the players in the area have the potential to get much better than they are but perhaps they are going about things the wrong way (?) That’s my opinion. I know there are plenty of skilled players but how have people from this area been doing at tournaments out of state or even at MWC… or EVO?
And ya I did get peaced out sooner than I would have hoped at MWC but I didn’t want to change characters and I even said it in the podcast, if I was a real ST player than I would have had a backup for a bad matchup that knocked me out of the tournament, but didn’t set aside the time to get confident enough to pick up a solid backup so I just stuck with one character the whole time and did alright though, I’m pretty sure I got in the top 12 and not the top 10, but maybe next year I can do better… who knows. It’s not like I didn’t have to play anyone good to get that far, I even had to beat AKA and he’s one of the best HDR players in the Midwest that I have played against.
Anyway, you’re the one who told me to stop talking trash after we played at the “bi-weekly” and I did that, hell I’ve decided to shut up about SF4 and just play the game like everyone else. I wouldn’t say I’m a huge fan but I gave it another shot based on what you and other have said. And on top of that I feel like I had nothing but nice things to say about you and other people in the podcast so I’m surprised you felt the need to come down on me so hard. But I don’t feel like I have to say anything else, other than sorry you were offended by what I said I think maybe you just took it the wrong way. I didn’t mean anything bad by it. But I don’t think there is anything wrong with someone being proud of their accomplishments, and I consider being anywhere close to you or antonio or anyone else who has been playing competitively much longer than me an accomplishment.
I want Chicago and Milwaukee players to do well in the respective games when playing the other areas. So if anyone else was offended by anything I said, then I apologize.
Yes it was a 30 inch pizza.
Took up almost all my kitchen table.
(I didnt order it my drunk/high friends did).
(It cost 54 dollars LOL).
this is very very possible/likely…so ya i withdrawl my harsh statements…i appologize too
p.s so this doesnt get too sappy…glb is free
edit: also wanted to add…not harshly but there were definitly some incorrect things you said (dont take this the wrong way i just want to clarify a few things)
yeah wi has always been more 3d oriented but i disagree with chicago always being more 2d oriented…gonna go back in time now for a history lesson…hmm where to start…i guess well start at ttt…ttt in arcades the top players for wi/chi respectively were antonio and um…ugh i forgot his name i want to say jose? the bryan player who always played with antonio…and that was about it…there were a few more ppl but they were meh…for chicago the top ttt players were me,tim (fury),and then some random diversions people…the rankings probably went something like 1.antonio,2.me,3.mexican bryan player,4.tim…but the thing is is it was like a circle…antonio would beat me,i would beat bryan player and tim,tim would beat antonio and go back and forth with bryan player (i just read this for a second and am going to take a brief break to say im probably rambling and going to type random history lessons for no reason but its raining outside and i dont feel like going out and my mouth hurts so this is something good to kill the time…so bare with me =/) so even tho antonio was #1 wi and chi definitly went back and forth…while also being competitive in all the 2d games…next game was probably t4…me and antonio were tied for #1 in t4…leaps and bounds above the rest of the mw…we once had a like 8 hour session of just jin vs jin since he had a cabinet at this random mall and we got to play for free…so again 3d lives in chicago…onto sc2…sc2 chicago probably had 3-4 out of the top 5 players in the WORLD at one point…madison was ok/good but they wernt even close to our level…like the chicago scrubs would beat them and stuff thats how advanced chi was in that game…onto t5…top 3 in no order was antonio/me/solus…once again there was a circle…antonio would beat me,i would beat solus, solus would beat antonio…so it was pretty hard to figure out who #1 was but again…competitive…after t5 i stopped playing…i think thats around when wow came out lol…so i dunno what happened in dr or whatever but im sure wi is competant in that…thats teh first 3d game i can think of where we didnt have a scene tho…ok i guess im done with my rambling/history lesson…dont take offence to any of this a lot of it is just cuz im bored and maybe some people enjoyed a random 3d history lesson? lol if u do maybe ill write a 2d one sometime! although it would be muuuuuuuuuuuch longer
Holy fuck.
We have a pizza like that here, but it’s $50 and if you and a friend eat the whole thing in under an hour, you win $500. I have yet to achieve this feat.
I could go heat some of it up right now on my Presto? Pizzaz? pizza cooker.
accepted
ya he’s free
too bad I can’t beat zangief I think I coulda faced against him at FIO3 but next time I’m going to work harder
I really wanna play the big dogs in SF4 now that I’m playing it again a little bit
And also I wanna get good at T6
Antonio said he’s willing to take me under his wing like he did when I was learning HDR :smokin: not to mention mateo
Thinking about T6 more I really hope more chicago players will pick it up especially around here. I wasn’t around chicago for most of T5 but I do remember it being mostly calibur players. I think it’s a very good game and I hope people are willing to give it a shot. I said this tonight at the gathering we had and I’ll say this here. People aren’t assholes, if you want to learn the game and have questions, people are more than willing to answer them.
I tried really hard to revive the scene in chicago when DR was first coming out but there just wasn’t interest. But Solus is going to make a comback for sure and I’m looking forward to the good old days of his big rivalry with Antonio. Mateo is 10x better than he was when T5 came out so it’ll be interesting to see them mix it up, and maybe some of the other big players in the area will come out of the shadows as well. We still have DR tournaments every once in awhile and they all generally do well every time. But I hope anyone who is interested in picking up the game won’t get discouraged by how good the current competition is. It’s a big change from going from games like Street Fighter or Guilty Gear to Tekken, but if you want, the people who still play are willing to teach you and let you know what you’re doing right or wrong. The experience is definitely there and people can learn from it.
Side note, Joshua just gimmie a call any time on Saturday and let me know what is going on. Oh and keep in mind my ps3 is still busted hehe
oh ya ari i know about the ttt days and of course the sc2 days which i think the chicago fighting game scene is most famous for along side guilty but I didn’t really talk about it because like I said I didn’t really get into the scene until around 2004 so it was more like talking about since I started. Oh and the person that Antonio hung out with was Zoe/Zoh however you spell it. He’s still around and there’s even recent footage of him and antonio playing tag on youtube. oh and regarding the sc4 scene, it was big at first with the tournament at mike’s house and to a lesser extent the 30-40 person tournament we had at screenz shortly after that but then it just DIED… I liked that game too and was getting good at it until HDR came out but by that time it was alright… because it was back to just damien and malcolm playing and just a handful of others. Fetz and Fury went back into the darkness until SC5 where they’ll come back out and destroy everyone again and let them know what’s up hahaha
ramble segment over
oh my god. it went from the the most harsh thing in the chicago thread to the most mature thing…
…
i cant even think of anything to say to that

well one that works
STFU Webster you scrub.
Go make a pizza.
my definition of a scrub
is someone who makes a pizza
doesn’t eat the middle of an oreo
chokes in the spelling bee finals when shit is too clutch
forgets he left the brownies in the oven
AND DOES NOT SAY HI TO YOU WHEN YOU PLAY THEM IN STREET FIGHTER
