A few weeks until I stopped doing stupid stuff like jumping when I want to walk forward and missing buttons. I got the stick with SF4 in February and didn’t play any sf seriously on a pad, beforehand, so I can’t really comment on any kind of transition. It just takes a lot of practice to get used to.

It’s pretty much entirely situational and dependent on the person. I pretty much switch back and forth between anything you can think of. Pads, sticks, keyboards. I’m actually best with a pad though, ps2 dual shocks in particular. Overall though generally it takes a few weeks to a month of practice to get used to a new control scheme. Same with button configs. To use BB as an example, most of my friends use the type A config (BCD on top, with A under the B.) while I like the type B config better. (ABC on top, with D under A)
