Okay, so I finished wiring up the pad, and started connecting things together.
Here’s the cthulu and it’s new housing laid out with the wires run so I could get an estimate on how much to trim.

Here’s a shot at the pad all wired up by itself, the difficulty was making sure to solder the small points that are off shoots of where the button makes the connection:

It came out looking like a mother fucking octopus:

Don’t mind the tape, it’s just keeping things nice and neat (as neat as it CAN be)
The next step was a tough choice, but I decided to wire the imp board up first to make sure my data and power wires weren’t jacked up at all, this is where shit EXPLODED into OMGWTFBBQ do I do now mode.

A closer look at the mess:

So after fucking with how things will eventually go together (again, don’t mind the scotch tape… I couldn’t find my electrical tape to cover the VCC and GND splice), I finally was able to do the most pinpoint solder job of my fucking life and get things together.
Plugged in the usb cable… nothing
Then I realized one of my data connections came loose, so I resoldered that, then tried again… fucking praying it would work. SUCCESS!
but wait, why the fuck is the controller set up telling me that RB is messing with the X and Z axis, and not a button press… time to plug it into the 360 to do the final test for the 360 side of things.

Plugged it in, started a match and pressed the 360 buttons… no lag or anything, it FUCKING WORKS!!! Even my cat was impressed, those are his tubby legs on the table, he subsequently clapped as best he could afterwards.
Now to finalize my testing, and hook up a wire to the IMP’s guide button to make sure it switches to the PS3/PC side of things, if it does that… I’m in the clear, and this mess of a project is finally done.
Sorry about making these so long, but eventually when things are done and I put this all up in Tech Talk these posts will just be spliced together to make things easy on me.
