Chicago: More Popular Than Porn ... The Legend Continues

I saw Total Fury at the Fireside like 7 years ago. They were amazing. Can’t remember who else played, though. Amdi Petersen’s Arme, Caustic Christ and Vitamin X, maybe? Man, that’s going to bug me.

Never got into Envy. I don’t know why, they just never clicked with me. I’ll have to check out Bastard. I’m always down for powerviolence.

Okay, so I finished wiring up the pad, and started connecting things together.

Here’s the cthulu and it’s new housing laid out with the wires run so I could get an estimate on how much to trim.

Here’s a shot at the pad all wired up by itself, the difficulty was making sure to solder the small points that are off shoots of where the button makes the connection:

It came out looking like a mother fucking octopus:

Don’t mind the tape, it’s just keeping things nice and neat (as neat as it CAN be)

The next step was a tough choice, but I decided to wire the imp board up first to make sure my data and power wires weren’t jacked up at all, this is where shit EXPLODED into OMGWTFBBQ do I do now mode.

A closer look at the mess:

So after fucking with how things will eventually go together (again, don’t mind the scotch tape… I couldn’t find my electrical tape to cover the VCC and GND splice), I finally was able to do the most pinpoint solder job of my fucking life and get things together.

Plugged in the usb cable… nothing

Then I realized one of my data connections came loose, so I resoldered that, then tried again… fucking praying it would work. SUCCESS!

but wait, why the fuck is the controller set up telling me that RB is messing with the X and Z axis, and not a button press… time to plug it into the 360 to do the final test for the 360 side of things.

http://www.lolstash.com/images/ctw81n2gwx5lbx9fm6r4.jpg

Plugged it in, started a match and pressed the 360 buttons… no lag or anything, it FUCKING WORKS!!! Even my cat was impressed, those are his tubby legs on the table, he subsequently clapped as best he could afterwards.

Now to finalize my testing, and hook up a wire to the IMP’s guide button to make sure it switches to the PS3/PC side of things, if it does that… I’m in the clear, and this mess of a project is finally done.

Sorry about making these so long, but eventually when things are done and I put this all up in Tech Talk these posts will just be spliced together to make things easy on me.

if you were into chicago hc at one time im sure we know similar people. i havent gone to shows in a while but i obviously still like the music.

corrected.

and japan is not the home of the best hip hop producers. don’t get me wrong some are nice but not the best.

frankie cash money gomez not punking out

i’m so proud of u

i’m gonna learn how to play tekken 6 on a stick

haha just kidding

we need us some pad ports on that cab!

Chi-Town needs to have a Drum & Bass meetup. Real talk.

Been busy moving so It delayed my planning of the Gatherings / Bi Weeklys. Ill have info up as soon as I can.

Good night at Lameworks again. I’m sure a lot of you enjoyed playing Ari too, I was just trying to absorb as much as I could all night.

Thanks for the tips guys who helped, I need them. I really need to spend some quality time in the Sagat section here, still have not done that.

konkrete, Tony is the Ken player, Briaden is the Ryu player. so feel dickish. Most of my SF4 friends actually go to Columbia , and they might throw a tourney. I’ll let you guys know about that. ggs tonight even though i’m a pad warrior. lol i need a stick, stat. im gonna enjoy my mexican food, night dudes.

I used to go to J1 after they moved. But yeah, this is the reason I stopped going. I bought a lot of stuff from him too, but when he took his site down and I couldn’t even browse the store, that was game over.

Also D you moved? wtf happened? hope all is ok!

We definitely might know some similar people. Going off your profile, you’re way younger than me, so you probably didn’t start going to shows until I was winding down with most of the punk stuff I did. Unfortunately, there isn’t a super awesome all-ages scene here anymore. Everything seems to be 21 and over. I don’t see too many shows either unless my band is playing. Such is adulthood, I suppose.

God, I miss the Fireside.

Just hope that the Sagat sections aren’t as bad as the guile and dan sections. i want to play guile but it’s all “oh i hate myself for playing guile” and “how much do ppl hate you for playing guile” over there. and the Dan forum is a barren wasteland.

GGs at Gameworks. I’m amused I could take a round from Marc’s Viper.

Lol at watching Frankie and Kurt play GGXAC. Shit is so not BB, my head started hurting from watching and remembering. “Big spiky dildo!!”

Fuuuuuuuuuuu-
I knew that shit too.

Whaaaaaa? I didnt’ even know you were there last night. Damn. I was the semi-drunk kid missing Rufus ultras against ari and marcus lmfao

It was fun as hell last night though. GGs and I talked to this hot blond for a little while at the bar.

Shit, I didn’t even see Frankie. We needed to RL fight :frowning:

Edit: Oh +$20 in Jerry’s wallet, bitches-who-didn’t-go…

.

…TIGER UPPERCUT!!!

Reason you didnt see me was I had left with Frankie, Kurt, and Amber at 9.

For anyone I don’t know, I was the guy in the SRK hoodie hanging by the girl at KoF XII with the shitty Ryu.

wtf? dilla doesnt make Trip hop. he made hip hop tracks and instrumentals

Yea, trip hop is a sound that brewed out of Bristol. Leading examples are artists like James Lavelle (U.N.K.L.E), Massive Attack, DJ Shadow, Lamb and Hooverphonic. The genre pretty much died at the turn of the century, though, and most of those involved in the scene moved on to other forms of music.

Also, I was totally serious when I said Japan has the best hip hop producers. They pretty much developed their own production style that’s more musically rich and deep compared to what you generally hear here over the past several years. Netherlands (Nicolay anybody?) and France has some sick producers too. There are still some artists and acts that I really like based in the States, but Japan is where it’s at right now. All these top American MC’s wouldn’t be collaborating with them if that wasn’t the case.

Anywayyyy, good to hear that GW was fun last night. Also, good luck and have fun to whoever going to Syxx’s tourney tomorrow.

god I liked hooverphonic back in the day.
saw them open for bt at the house of blues long time ago.

rare that the opener is as good as the show you paid for…

lol yea, Hooverphonic just makes garbage pop music now. They kept getting worse after the first album. Then again, only couple of founding members are left.

BT was the shit back when trance was still cool. He redeemed himself with “This Binary Universe,” though, which was pretty cool.
