It’s funny you mentioned this, because I’ve been listening to a ton of Gauze lately. I found my bootleg discography from the '90s and whatever album they did on XXX Records and have been playing the shit out of them.
There were/are a million awesome Japanese hardcore bands. I agree that Gauze are the kings, but I like Total Fury more. I’d put them in the top 3 bands of the late '90s thrash revival (the other two being DS-13 and Down in Flames). It’s crazy to me that none of these bands ever break up.
Don’t even get me started about Japanese metal. We could be here all day.
