I plan on going to GGA weekly and I come out of Evanston. Though most of the time I come from my parents house in Rogers Park.

If commentary is given to me I can commentate. I already do it when Mario has no fucking internet and wants to know how Mike Ross beat Mago.
If we end up running ranbats I can probably help with those too. I already help Joe with Marvel/MK at his place on Fridays.
Only thing is that AreaXIII property is being sold by the owner, so we don’t know how long we will have our AreaXIII for :(.
So instead of fucking moping about it everyone should show the fuck up and appreciate it while we have it.

Warning: This post will immediately show how much of a noob I am.
Since weekly GGA meetups are actually a reasonable drive from me, I’m considering going one day now. How do these gatherings work, though? People just show up and get in line to play on a console? Winner stays, loser goes? That type of deal?
Also, I love SSF4 but I’m definitely no pro. I’m just a casual pad PS3 player. Is the place mostly Xbox hardcore competitive players? It might not be for me, if that’s the case. The biggest reason I ask about the Xbox thing is because I can’t find a decent pad for the Xbox for a fighter at all and I’m not enough of a serious player to get a stick.
Syxx, how was the KoF setup situation doing over there? Did you end up paying anyway to get the arcade version or was the PC version running smooth?
@Johnoct: People were playing on both PS3’s and 360’s, but there are ways around that if you can only use a sony pad:

Just bring what your comfortable with; people were pretty generous letting others use there stuff if you needed a stick.

Nice to know that GGA worked out for you guys. I’ve been out there twice to play around with MK on the weekends.
I’ll try and make it to the next wed. gathering to play some KOF XII and the like. Does anyone here go over there on the weekends or do you guys have other places to hit up?
This is the first time I went to a gathering like this, so what I got from it:
Yeah you just show up. Not like there’s a line or a number you gotta take. I brought my 360 stick, but I forgot the USB end of it. But some guys on the PS3 station were playing “loser gets off”, so people played a set of best out of 3, and the loser gave up the stick to the next person.
People are cool, if you have questions, they’re willing to help you out. If you want to get better, people are here for that. Not like people will make fun of you if you’re doing bad, they’ll be willing to help you out to.
In regards to the crowd, it’s a mix of both. There’s people there that aren’t super pro (like myself) that just wants to play other people, and level up his game.
There’s a good mix of both. Definitely come out once, and see if its what youll like. Trust me, you’ll find something you’ll like about it.
Tactics brought his laptop which runs the game perfectly but I got there early and paid so I could get a high score on golden axe. I ended up playing with aaron for a bit, he got pretty good already… and showed a couple other players who had tried kof 12 and hated it a few things about the game… they said they would probably come next wednesday too.
anyone one from or near skokie that could hook me up with a ride to these gatherings? i’d def throw in for some gas
I might be there next wednesday, depends on how things go but I need to take a break from shit an actually play games for once.
