Thanks to the kid who bodied me for 30 minutes while people finished up MvC and preped for MK.
;( Was one match away from grand finals in MK9. Had two very uphill battles in a row. Managed to somehow beat the Smoke player that bodied me in casuals, got him to switch to Kano, which is a matchup I know very well. Then I had to face an Ermac player (whose name escapes me at 3:30 am). That matchup is a tough one for Sindel. It’s less frustrating than Smoke for sure, but he can really shut her down quite easily. Was so close to winning. Good stuff.
It was weird playing at GGA. I don’t use an arcade stick so I really had to grind the hour before. Seems to work quite well. I still kept doing some really stupid stuff. My fireball game wasn’t as refined as it could have been either. Next time…
Honestly you can learn a lot by getting pwned. I’ve been playing a competitive fighting game veteran like once a week, and even though I get blown up all the time, you see what it takes to play at high level and can start learning those techniques and habits. It’s not going to be easy or anything, but you don’t learn that much from beating up on noobs other than you are better than a noob.
Better to go out and get bodied at least you went out to do so or at least got to go out and do so.

I just need to figure out how to learn the game I want to learn (I like MvC but have no damn idea what-so-ever how to play it, or fighters in general really). I’m still getting basic execution down. I intend to keep coming out as I want to get good, and the general consensus seems to be that playing face to face and getting bodied for a while is part of it.
It’d just be cool to have some other newbs around so I could have a few games that preteneded to be close matchups.
I intend to show up at Ignite tomorrow and I was thinking about GW today (I need some sleeeeeep though).
