I do drive past Northlake to get to GGA, give me a call my number is in the post that had tonight’s gathering info on it.
CHICAGO 2016-2017 Thread: Welcome New Players, check out the Facebook Group page as its more active!
Nice idea, but let’s stick to something that won’t get the civil union on our asses.
Leave it to big marcus to pull that one off.
Also Throwdown is really 2 words, Throw Down, so it would have to be CTD!
I like the concept… how about
Chicago’s
Harmful
Interactions
or
Chicago
Hyper
Impact
or
Calcar
Habito
Impetus
which I gather to mean something like “Spur Constant Passion”. I pieced it together from a latin dictionary so it’s probably all wrong.
Yeah these are all crap. I still vote for Chi-Town Throwdown, CTT.
Chicago
Hype
Initiative
Initiative was the first “I” I wanted to use, but it technically isn’t correct…well it wasn’t with competitive honing lol, but maybe makes a bit more sense with chicago hype.
I was mostly joking around anyway.
I also was thinking of using chicago for C and Illinois for I but didn’t quite like it.
but Calcar Habito Impetus is perfect, lol.
Well, you got peeps like Tactics tryin’ to bring more players into the community. More players means more hype. To get shit going, you often need initiative. This shit takes place in Chicago, hence, “The Chicago Hype Initiative”.
No alliteration is the problem like Max was saying earlier… Btw wont be able to make it today, see you guys at the tourney on Wednesday
It does rhyme though. I do like the ideas people are tossing out (trying to make it into CHI is clever), but at the same time I imagine the goal is to make something catchy and easy to identify, not necessairly deep/really witty/using our best ACT word.
Chi-Town Throwdown is the best besides marcus’s idea.
Man…I should have went to GGA. My friends are getting lame. They wanted to drink, but they’re all done before midnight.
Ha…well, I like Chicago Hype Initiative
And Chi-Town Throwdown
I like Chi-Town Throwdown for the assonance and consonance.
But I REALLY like Chicago Hype Initiative for the acronym.
I dunno, I’m torn.
Since I don’t feel like retyping a special message for you homos, here you go!!
Hey guys, just wanted to let you all know that a big event, headed up by Keits and Focus Fire is coming to Chicago!! September 2-4th is Fighter x Shooter!! Not only will there be Character Auction tournaments for MK9, SSF4, and MvC3 (once again being auctioneered by yours truly), there is a new TEAM WAR battle that you will not want to miss!! Think CvS2 style SSF4!! It’s going to be amazing. Not to mention Keits will be making other BIG ANNOUNCEMENTS about Fighter x Shooter ON MONDAY!! You’re not going to want to miss this!!
Find more information here: [Sep 2, 2011] Focus Fire and Keits Present - Fighter X Shooter - $2k in Bonus... (Northbrook, IL)
Chicago Hype Initiative doesnt really go with fighting games though.
Chi-town Throwdown fits more honestly.
Big Marcus what time are you leaving for WI? I kind of want to go, send me a text.
Also good showing at GGA, was real fun as usual! Good games to everybody I got to play!
GGA was good. 1st time I’ve been to a gathering in 2 years and the 1st time I’ve played ssf4ae against real people. I was the fuerte player and so far I really hate dee jay and ibuki is manageable…gotta practice more…good shit though to everyone I played.
Chicago Heavy Impact
I like the double meanings of “heavy” and “impact”.
Heavy: 1. Having physical weight 2. serious or intense
Impact: 1. the forcible contact with something 2. a measure of something’s lasting effect
So, heavy impact can refer to a strong/weighty attack, but it can also mean that CHI will have a serious or intense lasting effect on the fighting game scene.
Hey man, I’m pretty sure I played you. I’m the scrubby Guile who needs a new main.
Good games man, thanks a bunch.
GGA was again, as always, kick ass.
Yes it does. I explained the meaning a few posts back. 'sides, no genre of video game summons more hype, than fighting games.
