Chi in July '09: Shaft Cover Do's and Don'ts.. Inquire within

D I should have your template finished by or on the weekend. I’ll be out of town next week though, so if we can’t arrange a time for you to pick it up, I’ll send or post you a digital file somehow if you want to print it out on your own as a temporary file for now, then I can print you out a hi-res file when I get back or whatever.

Also, after about 6(?) years of almost getting shot after following jin when he got pulled over after mwc, I present to you Cracka vs Police (?) round two: highway bugaloo

Was coming home from work yesterday, I’m in bellwood and live in palatine so I take 290 W to 53 N to get back home. I’m in the fast lane on 290, and around the 83 exit/entrance ramps I notice a black chevy truck fly up behind me. Now I’m giving the motorcycle a lot of breaking distance (about 3 car lengths) in case I have to break quick or whatever. I do not like tailing motorcycles for whatever reason.

So this guy stays on my ass until the 53 merge (maybe 5 miles?) and I promptly try to get on 53 and move a lane over so he can stop tailing me and just go away. Next thing I know I see the guy swerve into my lane and get right on my ass again. At this point I’m pretty much done with this dude and his shit so I light up my brakes. He sees me respond and has time to break, but I see him start raging in my rear view, so I give him a solid finger so he knows he should very well go fuck himself.

Next thing I know he’s waving around some kind of baseball cap with an embroidered 5 point police star logo. He accelerates and moves to the right beside my car when he gets a chance. He’s raging out his window so I lower mine to see what the deal is. “FUCKING STUPID ASSHOLE WTF ARE YOU THINKING!!” I respond “what? you gonna hit me?”. He continues to swear his mouth off and I tell him to quit raging. This is all while we’re driving on 53 N lol. He then tells me to pull over. Yes, he tells me to pull over.

His vehicle is unmarked. He is not in uniform. He has no flashing lights/sirens. He’s not flashing a badge. I’ve heard a lot of stories (recently also) about people in arlington heights posing as officers, pulling people over and robbing them. There’s a warning in arlington heights right now that even if an officer pulls you over, you are to request them to show proper badge identification before you open your window or door.

So yeah, I rolled my window back up, waved goodbye and continued driving. He exited on beisterfield or thorndale or some shit and I waved again to him as I went by. Still have no idea if he was really a cop/state police or just a rageaholic who had a embroidered hat in his car and wanted to shoot me on the side of the highway. So I called local police when I got home just to have some record of the situation…she said not to worry and my plates had not been ran all day, and if the police needed to get a hold of me they would.

seriously wtf though, I’ve never had a rage/police situation like that before. really wonder if he was a cop at all now.

I get into Vegas around 10 tomorrow night, am leaving from work about 5. Anyone wanna get some drinks in or hit the tables to de-compress? Otherwise, if anyone brought console setups and want to work on stuff, that works too.

Let me know.

I always get jitters, which sucks for playing a super-patient character like Sim. After the match with Apples at the last Screenz tourney though, my nervousness cherry has been popped and I don’t know if I’ll get it back any time soon.
Anyone see the new HP? Just saw it last night. I haven’t read them since I stopped reading them in the middle of the 4th, but I have to say I liked it a lot. It had a lot move love interest crap than it needed to, but overall it was a really enjoyable movie.
Plus, it had a 2012 trailer, which gets more and more redic every time I see it.

Where was Rufus Scrimgeour? The other minister? DADA and detention with Snape? Luna’s commentary? Bill and Fleur? Fred & George’s serious section of the store? Chemistry between Harry and Ginny? Hermione and Ron drinking Felix? The HUGE battle at the end of the book involving about a dozen different characters? The funeral? A better explanation of horcruxes? Hmm, David Yates?

All those are missing from the newest Harry Potter movie. If you haven’t read the book, you won’t have missed anything. But, if you read the book two days ago for the 4th time (like me), you will have missed quite a bit.

Now, I’m not one of those people that always says “the book is better than the movie.” I’ve actually written papers on books being adapted into films (it’s kinda my forte). As far as Harry Potter goes, I’d say the 1st and 5th movies are better than the source material. The 2nd and 4th are about the same, but I didn’t really like them anyway. The 3rd book is the best one, and I think the movie was fantastic. Both were suberb.

The 6th book has a LOT of stuff going on, and it’s a little overwhelming (not quite so much as the 7th though), but that’s the point. Harry has reached a point in his life where there’s just too much. He can’t handle everything by himself, which is what Hermione and Ron finally convince him of at the end. The 6th movie, unfortunately, takes out about 80% of the stuff and leaves you with a barebones plot and a little too much romance.

I was half-tempted to call you out on spoiler tags and whatnot…and then I realized, I don’t care enough. Plus, if you’re like me, you’ve read each book once, but can’t remember wtf happened, so watching the movie probably won’t ruin much of anything. I own the 7th, but I still haven’t actually read it yet…oops.

Good luck/execution to everyone in Vegas! Bring back pictures, stories, and if possible, bitches.

spoiler: gandalf dies.

NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!

Curses Jim, how could you?!?!

:d: Yosh, was it really good? I’ve been hearing mixed reviews about it. Some friends are saying it’s really not that funny, others say Borat was better, still others say it’s hilarious. Not sure if I want to spend $6-10 to find out.

I hate Harry Potter.

Saw Bruno on Sunday, though… and that movie was gdlk.

Hmm… I thought I was being careful with that. I only revealed what’s NOT in the movie.

Bruno was the movie of the summer so far for me.

That works. Besides, it gives avid readers an idea of what NOT to look for. Sorry about that…

for this summer … i would say … Up and Transformers 2.

for all the people hating on Transformers 2 … if you are looking for an academy award competition storyline and acting … that’s like looking for a compelling plot in a fighting game. you’re missing the whole point.

looking to watch the G.I. Joe movie, although i dont remember anything about G.I. Joe (had toys, saw some of the cartoons, but a long long time ago). then in September, there is “9”.

I’ll hate the shit out of TF2 because it was 2 1/2 hours long and ended with just a furious, end-of-the-world masturbation to the military.

thank you.

do you not remember the first movie? it was a 2 hour long military masturbation fest. yet everyone loved it.
please explain.

i ll say the same for terminator 4 pretty much.

middle east guy can back me up on this. it was entertaining. i sure as hell thought it was. was the storyline weak? yes it was. the acting? christian bale i think did fine, i mean, what else do u expect from john connor? otherwise, nothing that really stuck out.

did they get a lil mushy about the value of heart which is the saving grace of humanity? yes they did, and that was kinda dumb.

giant robots, terminators, explosions, moon bloodgood …

i was entertained, however, it did fall short of my expectations.

Transformers 2 met my expectations.

Up met and surpassed my expectations.

i have very low expectations for harry potter.

It’s quite possible he didn’t like the first one, either.

My favorite films and upcoming releases of 2009:

Inkheart - Good, family friendly fantasy adaptation
Coraline - Nightmare Before Christmas-like
Tokyo! - Three international directors’ takes on life in modern Tokyo (including Michel Gondry)
Star Trek - never really watched the old show, but quite entertaining
Bruno - Sacha Baren Cohen + ignorant people + Larry Charles directing = subversive comic gold
Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince - I’m a Harry Potter fanboy
Whatever Works - Larry David and Woody Allen? Are you kidding? I MUST see this movie
Funny People - A comedy about comedy
Ponyo - Miyazaki’s latest work
9 - cool CGI film that’s not Pixar/Dreamworks
District 9 - Aliens “invade” but humans are aggressors
Nine - Actually, I probably won’t see this musical, just wanted to show that there are three movies this year with 9 in the name
The Invention of Lying - Louis CK and Ricky Gervais with an interesting concept
Taking Woodstock - Directed by Ang Lee and starring Napoleon Dynamite
Capitalism: A Love Story - Moore’s documentaries have been getting more and more mature over the years
2012 - disaster porn is always fun
The Princess and the Frog - Disney going back to traditional animation!
Sherlock Holmes - the trailer kinda disappointed me, but I still have hope
The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus - Terry Gilliam (in my top 3 directors) has a new film and it might actually get released
Fantastic Mr. Fox - Ok, this one is absurd. Directed by Wes Anderson and starring George Clooney, Meryl Streep, Anjelica Huston, Bill Murray, Jason Schwartzmann, Owen Wilson, and Willem Defoe

Fantastic Mr. Fox. I remember reading that in the 3rd grade, awesome.

can’t remember too many memorable '09 movies. star trek was good, even for not being a trek fan. wolverine blew, never saw terminator.

stay away from “knowing” that just came out on dvd last week too.

that movie is all setup and then drops a giant turd on you at the end. Indiana Jones 4 bad.
rented it from redbox too, it’ll make you want your $1 back.

:d: response to below

never said you had to like any summer blockbuster, but people are using a lot of reasoning to say they didn’t like the 2nd movie, when the first one was full of what they’re complaining about and people loved that movie. if you don’t like either movie due to the military aspect, fine. if you liked the first one and disliked rotf cause of the 25 minutes of military at the end…that deserves a wtf, lol. first one was filled to the brim with military poop.

God forbid that I not like every summer blockbuster. I’m not trying to indoctrinate anyone, I’m just saying what I think.

gonna head to GW tonight for one more practice session before I leave for vegas tomorrow. who was to kick my ass lol

Coraline was good. going to get that into my DVD collection.
