Out of curiosity why didn’t you keep the 4 button layout for blazblue?
I think he did.
So that he can play other games on the stick?
rtdzign, where the hell did you actually manage to find Sanwa OBSC buttons? I’m fucking envious now.
most likely to play other games too. either that or he didn’t order his plexi when art actually made the BB/SNK layout available.
but he changed the colors for the 4 buttons normaly setup for BB.
Art made my 4 button BB layout back in July.
I’m loving that padauk, how was it to work with? Putting together plans to make my first stick, most likely will be pine or mdf just to practice, but I’d love to try out the padauk eventually.
A while ago on the trading forum somebody was selling them. It was a precarious, long delayed transaction to say the least, but i’m glad I got them.
Paduak is quite easy to work with. It planes well and sands easy. Sometimes the wood will tear of you cross the grain, so you have to plane from one direction or sand down. Make sure you don’t wear white clothes that you like when working with it. The dust looks like cinnamon and is hard to get out. It can be really irritating to the lungs. I got a rubber mask respirator.
Strangely Paduak changes color. When you shave it it is this light orange red vermillion, but when you wet it with mineral sprits or apply poly it turns to this nice dark redish brown. I was going for red and brown, just like Dhalsim.
The Jatoba/Brazilian Cherry on the other hand, that was some hard ass wood. It finishes nicer though.
Very nice stick, rtdesign ! But why did you put an MDF plank under the metal ? Afraid of shorting some signals on the PCBs ?
@ rtdizgn : What’s this circuit on the bread board?
Mounting the joystick so that it is at 25mm shaft length was the main reason. Without it I would have to buy an arc welder and machine a mount like the TE to get proper height. That or would have joystick screw holes on my top metal plate. That would have the shaft too long and the pivot too high. Joystick is still 1-2mm too high but that is close enough. Also good to have something to screw the PCBs onto without puting holes in the metal. If you look at the sketch you will notice that the joystick is top-mounted to the bottom layer of MDF. Adds weight too. Yes it is a bad idea to mount pcbs directly on top of metal as well.

Inverter for triggers. 74HCT14 chip I think. I felt it was a lot cleaner that way then to have the inverter chip dangling with wires. Also put it in a IC socket since last time I did it I think I burnt the invertor chip and accidentally broke off some pins when the wires tangled.
My Hori Fighting Stick w/ Cable artwork
Here it is :

I only changed the artwork and swapped to Sanwa buttons.
I made the artwork with GIMP thanks to MIVlives PSD template layout and ordered a plastified print.
Got the holes of the steel panel to the proper shape with a Dremel, spray glued it on the steel panel, soldered wires on the PCB in order to ease maintenance and isolated the PCB with tape.
ah dualmod. Lucky you that rest of pcb was common ground
New stuff.
Currently they can be custom made to be PS1/2, PS3, Xbox360, PC or wii (converter required) compatible.
The joystick has an extra mount to adjust the length of the stick exposed above the panel.
The box is very sturdy made.
Face Plates are stainless steel, not plastic nor wood.
The side slots are used to put metal weight or similar items to increase the weight and thus sturdiness of the stick, if you think you are a little bit rough while doing special moves with the stick, this will help make it more stable during intense matches. And also they improve the structure integrity of the case.
Currently we have only the vewlix layout available.
No plexiglass, face panel made of polyester resin. Scratch resisting when painted.

don’t wonder about the right hand joysticks, seems that greeks prefer them that way xD
Wait…is it some kind of common thing in Greece to play cross handed???
Well look at you! I think the mod for the nuetrik is not only efficient but very stylish. You may have set a new standard for the mounting of those I cant say enough about the great job you did finishing your pieces seperatly and getting them all clamped up without one trace of glue marks around the butts!! :hitit:
You guys should check out the worklog on this, if you’re just getting started or looking for a new stick project it looks like a lotta fun
Those cases are clean. Nice job on the paint.
Years ago there were many arcade cabinets with the stick on th right side so ppl here prefere the right handed arcade sticks than the left handed … when those cabinets startet to get out of the market the left ones remained but ppl still could’nt play so they started playing cross handed lol
When EVO 2K4 took place there was a greek nicked Aenica who played Tekken 4 and ended in the 4rth place… gues what … he was playing cross handed with an ASCII stick … lol
Wow I had no idea about that!
That is interesting…I wonder why it was like that.
