Excellent stuff against Marn there Viscant. Imo they weren’t really random U’s, played like a counter punish. 4frame startup is certainly handy when someone gets overly rushdown and drops blockstrings or leaves openings. Where a sweep would connect lash in an ultra eh? Haha!

Only played a little Dee Jay this weekend. Wasn’t playing well with him, kept dropping combos and blowing easy punishes so I stuck with Blanka the whole last 2/3 of the tournament. Getting favorable matches the whole way through helped, other than Marn everyone I played were Blanka’s few good matches (Chun, Chun, Ken, Chun, Dudley, Viper, Viper).
Also, I like the idea for AE of doing more matchup specific stuff in the forum. Super is about 3/4 of a year old and there are some matchups that I have only the basics of the basics in. There are just too many characters in this game. Even in some of the matchups that I “know” like vs. Ibuki or vs. Makoto most of my knowledge is “this move punishes ball/ex up ball on hit, so don’t do it. I can jump on him because the character either can’t anti-air or players who play that character tend not to, so jump more than usual. And low strong bothers them so keep doing it.” That’s not a gameplan. That’s not even the skeleton of a gameplan, it’s just notes. The actual playing out of the match is in the dark.
And it’s not just obscure characters. Even matchups like vs. Zangief or vs. Dhalsim, I’ll watch people play matches out or I’ll be the one playing and the whole framework of the match is wrong. Like vs. Dhalsim awhile back I decided to learn the match Mizoteru style instead of playing (dumb) like I always do and just rushing him. Not moving at all worked for me. I went from being free to any Dhalsim to being able to play with Filipino Champ and Sann and other good Dhalsims in the area. It would have been nice to know that instead of walking headfirst into stuff for 6 months.
So anything the forum wants to do for AE I’ll be happy to help out as much as I can.

Nice eh? Wouldn’t it be even nicer with gif-hitbox animations? Although I couldn’t even begin to find out where I’d get the raw data to put it together. I’ve seen people put up images of hitbox info before, where does that info come from?

I was going to contribute to the IPW thing, but I couldn’t really do what I wanted with it. Emailing them info and having them decide what is important is stupid when I have a better idea of what is important.

I have to be the only one who likes his other alts more. i always rock color 3 regardless.
Also new idea, find combos where either cr.short or st.strong hit meaty in the flow of the combo, then do stupid stuff off of them.
Also too bad upball is so unsafe, linking into it is almost satisfying.
New outfit can be very confusing for opponents or even myself, it’s hard to tell what Blanka is doing.
Yes, it’s amazing haha. Honestly, when I rainbow ball with his Alt 3, I sometimes don’t even pay attention to when I land. I just marvel at how glorious it is and how his hitbox must be only about half the size of his entire character model.

It seems like you covered all the stickies we will ever need…when that happens i will dedicate myself to contributing to the forums alot more.
I haven’t got Blanka’s new alt yet i will download it tomorrow im not a big fan of any of his alt costumes up untill now but the new one looks quite interesting.

okay trials rolled into master thread(and Q&A), critique for your personal matches, this thread staying unstickied(it gets bumped a lot anyways), and the new video thread only being for high level matches and for tutorials/combo vids with interesting relevant stuff in them. I’ll ask DeLUCIFER about the combo thread.
The only other question is how to divvy up matches for the smaller matchup threads. Should it be done alphabetically? How difficult the matchup is? Similar types(Ryu, Ken, Akuma, etc.) I was just going to do it alphabetically, but I could see how it would be relevant to have shoto matchup information all together in some way because there are some universal things about the matchup.
I like the look of Blanka’s new alt, but I can’t use it, it’s way too distracting for me lol.
