Haven’t played seth

Akuma is mostly overhead because you are going to get way more dizzies on him.

Ves - do you have any videos of your matches against good DJ’s (for example, JCool in the DJ forums)? I’m curious to see how you play it. Thanks.

next time I play a set vs. him I’ll ask him to record.

I like hearing seth is more easy, any reasons meth90? U sure its not just you getting better at the MU?

ex upball is better vs. seth

Blanka was already one of the characters that uppercut mixups didn’t work on properly(blanka can backdash/fa backdash all uppercut setups midscreen, and ex rainbow beats both spd and dp), and now you don’t get punished for doing something like ex upballing a tanden.

seth close fierce punch can do a number on ex rainbow roll though. Just something to be prepared for.

Serious ves, if you wanna have your big breakdown discussion idea, lets do a how to beat honda thread.

My solution: Pick a different character!!!

fuck

This is actually a pretty good idea.

Another good one is trying to time him out.

Yeah for sure, seth can’t do his cookie cutter offense vs. metered blanka though.

The exupball changes so much the match up, now the Seth’s player need to guess on your wake up, he can’t do an OS dp on you for free because of the EX backstep roll, yes just these things… and also HP Ball kd is good in this match up for close quick punishs so yes with a good defense, spacing and a good knowledge of Seth’s tricks, it’s not hard for Blanka now.

Before 2012, Blanka knockdown = end of the round (stun etc…), now it’s over.

still looking for a realy good honda player in europe that troubles me…
I mean this matchup is not easy but what does honda have in his favour that blanka hasnt?
I always feel that he has the same problems getting in on blanka than the other way around!
and once he is in, blanka at least has a usefull reversal to get out! honda cant do anything but block if you crossjump oder hop over him…
I never had the feeling that honda has an advantage over jimmy and everytime I loose it was because I sucked!

this is just a patience matchup IMO!

All honda has to do is walk forward and hit jab and Blanka has very few options, then sit back when he has a life lead.

If the Honda player can match your patience you will be in trouble.

Impatient Honda is not a hard match for Blanka because you are able to capitalize on mistakes, but with a patient Honda it’s very hard for Blanka to crack Honda’s defense because of the combo of nj.fierce, cr.jab, and headbutt.

Hagen - doesn’t lorddvd still play online all the time? His Honda will body 99% of blankas he’s damn good man he used to beat me loads. Tamanapants was excellent right at the end of his sf4 career, I don’t know if he’s a lurker on xbl like I occasionally am.

I never tried this ves, but since good Hondas can air to air your jumps with j.hp or j.back/ forward.mp , if you see Honda step forward you jump and early normal, dunno which one, to beat his air to air, if he blocks your j.attack would have whiffed, and you land to do cr.lk x elec or something? Would it work or would you just get grabbed on landing? scrub tactics!

Try and find Stevoknevo on XBL, based in Ireland. He’s our Evo Honda player.

The honda I play just st.hp’s me for this, or does low short, low jab xx hands when I land.

Need help about shotos.

What is different between fight Ryu, Ken or Akuma ?

About the ideal range, the best normals to use etc… and the total plan to be applied, i have so much troubles against Ken since Ball’s nerf… don’t know how to fight him.

Hey ves, I would find it useful if there was a contents thread where it links to each ‘topic of the week’ as well as the matchup threads. If you can be arsed of course

lp ball him a lot in range, and mix it up with nj to punish that step kick. Keep him out, dont forget st. fierce in that range to keep him guessing. Be aware of air tatsu shenanigans.

The guide thread links to each matchup thread and I planned on including the weekly topics in it too. I need to update every matchup, gonna try to do 3-4 a week now.

Weekly topic will probably be up tomorrow, been busy and I was kind of bleh after I lost the other one I had.

In general you should be using a setup after f.throw to make dp whiff.

Ideal ranges vs. Ryu are slide fireball range, and st.hp range. If you can stay in those zones mostly he’s much easier to fight. You walk much faster than ryu which is a huge benefit. This match is literally whoever plays better footsies wins though, you just have to stay in your good zones.

Akuma I find that you need to be flexible depending on what he is doing. He doesn’t have any super bad ranges due to his sweep and walk speed, but you just need to be on your toes and make him play honest. Make him start offense with sweep only and it goes a long ways.

Good Ken is hard. I’m really going to say that there isn’t a range where Blanka is favored other than from far, but you can’t contain Ken there, which is the fundamental problem with the matchup. However, Ken’s offense is linear and he relies on stepkick. If you can use buffers and get good at setting up the spacing to whiff punish stepkick you can put him into a bad spot. One thing I really miss in this match is airborne hop. You used to be able to hop through throw/dp mixups

Thanks, i search things against his stepkick, not easy to counter poke and to focus… and also his jump fierce is tricky to AA, like Ryu, i have a lot of trade with crouching strong…
