Ah ok. When cam and ruf start that shit the blockstun is horrible. Sometimes cl.mk works, but only if they drop something. Never tried cr.lp, how does cl.lk fair?

cl.lk is pretty okay. generally I just mash st.hk, or do jb.whatever. I’m really free to Rufus if they are smart and actually know to do lows and stagger their dive kicks though because I autopilot vs. him.

Yeah, good cams and rufi walk all over me in the corner. May as well sellotape the stick in a downback position and make a cup of tea or something.

easiest way to make blanka better is just look at ST.

increase his throw range to be equal or even better then rose. then just make the recovery on his hop better. Everything else can stay the same for the most part. Perhaps make c.HP better on block.

edit: in doing this he has a chance to mixup anyone and has advantages in the close/mid game. He may still lose because someone has better normals then him (balrog) but at least he has options vs cammy/fei on wakeup that he doesn’t have now.

better throw range would be great especially considering his kara is dumb, and the cl.jab version has less range than the far jab version which leads to whiffs.

bad players already lose to hop shenanigans for free so you probably won’t see them make it better even if they keep updating this game sadly

If you don’t make hop better then two things that i would take to make that better. cs.MK make that +4 on hit and make it have a 4 frame startup. Another one that i would take is bigger chip damage on electricity. Also i would prefer the startup on all 3 electricity to be the same (5 frames) so i can use HP in ambig roll situations. As long as the recovery on HP is bigger then it’s not a huge deal.

New character matchup threads made, I still need to link them, make I think 2 more threads, and ask a mod to get everything I wanted stickied, but after that the overall layout of things should be finished and I’m hoping you guys can contribute to making this character more complete offensively.

I am currently working on filling out info in the matchup threads and deciding on a layout I like.

This is the example post of what the writeups will look like, I started with Blanka because I think the mirror is probably my best matchup.

If you guys have any ideas please let me know. If you have a writeup yourself for a character or just some general advice, please contribute to the threads. I want Blanka players to be technical beasts not electricity/hop/ball mashing scrubs.

If you have any ideas post them. If you have a full writeup you can either post it in the thread and I’ll add it to the start of the thread, or I might just leave it if I don’t feel it is complete. You can also PM it to me if you aren’t sure about some things and I’ll try to see what I would fix. Any great tidbits will be added to the start of the thread even if they aren’t a full writeup. I need to go look into the old matchup threads and find some things to quote. Mullah/Viscant dropped so much knowledge on us last year, and it’s important stuff to read.

Basically if you contribute a full writeup I’m expecting you to know the matchup in and out though.

I’m not a top player, I’m not great at all the matchups, but I think between the whole forum we probably have enough decent players who can actually get something cohesive together. Matchup knowledge is a community thing, and it needs to be pooled in a more efficient way.

Cool, I don’t know every matchup, but I think there are some I have down really well.

I’m sitting at 4387 PP right now, which is up 140ish over the last 2 days. Sadly though I’ve only lost 3 games. 1 lost me 120 PP another 80, and another was against a 5k PP Chun where I lost 35 points because I hit st.jab too early and dropped a combo. I win those 3 games and I’m sitting pretty at over 4700. sigh

Blanka’s j.mp is so godlike. I like being able to jump at characters for free because my move has a dumb hitbox. Anything that beats gief lariat clean is amazing imo.

okay i tested j.MP and j.HP vs lariat and i think j.HP is as good as MP

j.hp loses to late crouching lariat/trades. J.mp always wins if you space it correctly.

j.mp can stuff some SRKs, and pretty much any reversal that doesn’t have a lot of horizontal momentum. Blanka’s 4 best normal moves based purely on hitboxes are j.mp, nj.hp, st.lp, cr.lp. They are all capable of beating SRKs.

In terms of how much red there is not covered by green? Yes. cr.mp is a much better tool because it serves a better purpose however.

You sure as hell can’t meaty ryu/akuma with it and magically be safe though like you can with cr.lp.
