I’d bet that’s just another media stunt.
that shit is funny… eminem is such a bully! i LOVE when he’s ripping people… no one ever comes back clever enough!
Luis quit trying to put CD’s in the same spot Eminem was trying…
Two Cds in the same spot SON !
Good job Charlestonians ! Team tourny was fun. To a point where I had too much fun and started fucking around too much lol. Fierce Dragon setups are the best !
We gotta start playing on better TVs though…
GGs to everyone I played today.
To whoever stole my 360 stick: Go fuck yourself.
To anyone who sees a white Hori EX2 with green semitsu buttons: PLEASE CONTACT ME IMMEDIATELY.

Props to Charleston for holding the fort down hardcore. I’d like to give up my spot to Chris T or Mike O. Now that I lack 2 working sticks for each system, I won’t be practicing much at the house. Not to mention, I don’t feel like traveling around to get my shit ganked.
I’m mostly upset because of how much of a pain in the ass it was to mod that stick. De-soldering the buttons, grinding out the button holes, re-soldering the wires to the new buttons, etc. I’m not willing to pay $200+ for a custom, SE’s are pure garbage, and (AFAIK) TE’s still have occasional PCB malfunctions on the 360. So…fuck it.
Whoa what the fuck… that shit is NOT cool. i remember seeing it sit around with duff’s Namco… did someone grab it for KOF or BB?
got-em
Whoa, not cool.
Sorry I wasn’t there. I would’ve shanked the fucker good if I caught him trying to snatch it up.
I would ask how the 5v5 went but do I really need to? I think we all knew how that was gonna end up.
Wow! I can’t believe someone stole your shit Justin. I will definitely keep an eye out for it. Have you asked Columbia crew if they have seen that shit as well? We haven’t had anything disappear since Josh started running tourneys at PnT and you have been to most of them.
GGs and good show to everybody in Charleton. The 5 on 5 was pretty epic. When was the last time a 5 on 5 was done in this state like this anyway? Just curious.
Justin. I hate that someone stole your stick man. I’m so sorry to hear about that.
It could be related or it could not. I didn’t think anything of it at the tourney, but I remember hearing someone behind me talking (I thought jokingly at the time) and saying something to the effect of “finder’s keepers. I’m serious”. Anybody remember hearing who said that? Could be related or it could not. Didn’t see who it was, just heard it behind me when watching a match.
Josh/Icege here on Rob’s SN.
I hope nobody said “finders keepers” in a big ass room full of dudes playing video games. That’s more like, “Nobody’s looking, snatch!”
I don’t know who took Justin’s stick, and I’m extremely disappointed that it went down. I’m very, very sorry Justin. Give me a couple of weeks to order those parts and let John H fix it up and we’ll send you an identical replacement a.s.a.p. Don’t let this persuade you to stop playing and traveling.

Aside from the stick being stolen and a few people not being able to show up on the Charleston side, I had such a good time it’s time for shout outs!
Xavier: Congratulations on such a strong performance in everything you did yesterday. There was a lot of hype about you from the Columbia side and you definitely came through. Solid Balrog and very consistent with landing your combos when you got the opportunity. We gotta do something about that Kanye West-looking Ragna though. =P
Tak: Miiiiike. So good to see you. You already know what’s good. We’ll get up again soon!
AwardTour: I’ve got a feeling you and I are going to hate one another in the near future  Just for the simple reason that I think we’ll end up always having to run up on each other in the brackets of any game we play. What’s worse is that we both play Rufus and Taokaka! That’s what’s holding them down! D: Good stuff man, and congratz on pulling strong in SF4! I’ll have to definitely get a hold of you somehow so that we can bounce strats off one another
DrHat: You came and proved why you are one of the definite strongest players in the state up there with Xavier and Ryan. Great to see you again. I was actually scared the most of you and AwardTour because I don’t have a lot of experience against Rufus nor Vega with Abel. On top of that, you two didn’t even need to fight for your spots on the team so I knew I couldn’t sleep. Ended up not having to face you, so I guess it worked out
Hi-Tekk: Way to fill in and hold strong for your team. That Raging Demon vs. Luis at the end of that one round was friggin’ epic!
Keyon/Kloud/Jam’s Legs/that other guy: You guys are a trip and made dinner even more fun. Y’all definitely have me wanting to play BB more and pick up maybe Accent Core if it weren’t going to faaaaade away. I’ll have to try out some of the other characters you guys suggested. Stay in touch and keep playing!
Avatar2: Thanks for all the organizational efforts on your end Rodney. It made things go a lot smoother than expected, and I seriously appreciate everything you did for this and what you have been doing for helping the Columbia scene. I’ve got a feeling that in the next year, Columbia is going to be the premiere spot for gaming in SC. Charleston took it off of Greenville’s hands when they started to move on, now it’s Columbia’s turn. Unfortunately, I can’t let you guys have Tekken until I’m through with it
SimpleKiss: JON FITCH! Rod got your chairs that you left. Sorry you had to dip out early. I understand though. Gotta train for that GSP rematch!
Rob & Duffey: You guys are homos. <3
Mike O: That man Mike O making top 8! Ryan has your bad ass chair by the way. I think it’s awesome how you’re on the “media” side with getting the videos and interviews going. It adds another dimension of hype and gives us opportunities to go back and pin point our mistakes in matches.
Jerome & Paul: Thanks you two for showing up. Hope you guys had fun. Jerome with that 9th place in SF4 and a front row seat to a 10yr old stomping me out in Madden 2010 thanks to cheating :(. Paul, good job during the 5v5. Lack of knowledge comes from lack of training and over confidence. You know what needs to be done though, so I’m confident that you’ll be able to grow from the experience
Ryan: Good job still walking out of there with store credit and trying to keep that 1st place in Charleston’s name. Hopefully this will give you some fire to start playing more often again and give up on KoF12
Luis: Most Improved. Hands down.
ChrisT: Thanks for coming out even while being under the weather. I’ll be honest, I wish you were on the 5v5. I thought you weren’t playing anymore until we spoke on the phone earlier in the week. Then you showed up and handled business in 2 games! I’m going to be back on a schedule since the semester starts tomorrow, so keep me in the loop on when you want to get up and game!
Justin: I am so, so, so sorry Please don’t let this be something that keeps you out. I’ll make sure you get your stick back somehow, someway. Just don’t let the dogs eat the box when it gets delivered. Thanks for being our inside guy for the 5v5 and giving us all the great info. You held it down in everything and I think deserve recognition as one of the better players in the state!
Aside from how long it took and minor things, I hope everyone had a great time. If there’s any suggestions, complaints, and even better, compliments, please let me know! Unfortunately, the Charleston scene looks like it’s not really a scene anymore. Nobody has interest in SF4, BB, nor KoF12. At least not enough to actively make an attempt at playing in a tournament for it or practicing to actually be good at the game as opposed to being able to beat people locally. So my question here is… should the tournaments stop until Tekken comes out?
Ok guys… the complete 5-on-5 video (with embedded audio podcast/interviews) is up! Please feel free to pass the link around and get everyone watching! The complete battle is broken down into 6 video parts, played out in the exact order that they happened. The side-bar notes contain match info for the clip plus a final tally.

also submitted to EventHubs.com again… hopefully we get picked up for front page again…
“Local Spotlight: South Carolina”
Greetings! I am Mike Ocampo (shinobiXTC), and I have contributed to EventHubs.com in the past with the Square Gate Shortcut video. (Thank you very much for contribution and video credits, by the way!)
I understand that there is no shortage of SF-related news, because of the resurgence of the fighting game genre. But if you ever find a lull in current news, I have a suggestion that might encourage smaller locals scenes to be passionate about their fighting community.
Most everyone (who reads the event updates this site posts) knows the stories/style of the major players in Japan, on the East and West Coast… even in Texas. Well, local communities have rivalries of their own! Players participating in large-scale events like EVO and Final Round break down who gets to represent their respective communities with local play.
This is EventHubs after all, and I hope you shed light on all events large and small alike! If you ever intend to do a “Local Spotlight” feature and ask smaller communities about what local events are important to them… then South Carolina and I would like to be the first to step up!
Linked below is a South Carolina (Charleston vs Columbia) 5-on-5. Columbia had a large community of players who usually met on the occasion to play. Charleston on the other hand has a smaller collective of players, but who have been gaming with each other for a many years. A challenge was issued, and an exhibition was arranged during a local Ranked Battle tournament. The audio track to the videos is a podcast, with interviews with the players at the beginning of each video. (I figured that viewers would not care about who they are watching if they didn’t know them… so let’s get to know them!)

Thank you for your time and everything you do for the fighting game community! I apologize for the length of my message, but I wanted to clearly express my idea. Hopefully, local gaming is worth your time! Hahaha
Very Respectfully,
Mike Ocampo

P.S. There is also a blog trying to bring the SC gaming scene together. http://sctourney.wordpress.com/
we’re all on youtube now! lets try not to scrub it up!
I made a post on the SC Tourney website about the event:
Big props to Shinobixtc! Those commentaries/interviews were just awesome. It was really pro stuff man! It came out so well!!
I just listened to all the interviews and loved it. We need to do something like this again and we should also be thinking about SC’s team for Final Round. We need to show the rest of the SE that South Carolina is for real!
It doesn’t matter because Keyon and I shared the store credit anyway, but I took 1st in Blazblue as well. :wgrin: (Hope you’re enjoying the DS man!)
Justin: Sorry to hear your stick was stolen. I’m not sure why someone would do something like that. Hopefully the culprit will come forward soon.
Charleston: Good games to everyone I played yesterday! Unfortunately, Columbia couldn’t pull through in the 5v5, but hopefully we’ll be able to set things straight the next time we play. Doing the podcast/interview was also pretty koo. =)
My 3S picks for SBO09:
1st: Ochibi (YU) / Tokido (CH) / KO (YA)
2nd: RX (UR) / Vanao (RY) / Koushun (CH)
Street Fighter III Third Strike 3 vs. 3 results

? 3rd: Kuroda (Q), MOV (Chun Li), ???
? 3rd: RX (Urien), Koushun (Chun Li), Vanao (Ryu)

The moon one was worst.
How Rufus felt about the 5on5 and Charleston Tournament:
So I ride my bike to this Play and Trade around 1pm. The rest of Columbia guys went to eat sub but i was like naw because i ate an pretty big breakfast with grits and sausage and other stuff. Just when i get my jumpsuit on they say, your up. I haven’t even got my biker boot on before I face this Ryu guy. I was like Where’s Ken? he look like the description gi, hair, and a fireball. that guy was better than Ken. he really don’t like Jesus kicks, he must Muslim or something. then I face this green look thing that roll around and shock thing. I was like why are you dress like a human and then he randomly punch me in the knees. Not cool. Then, I was like why are you running away so much. Then there was this French emo guy who just kick me in my stomach, then grab me. i was wait aren’t Frenchman suppose to run away from fights. Then this boxer guy, was just like fight money. I was like " who’s money" then I got punch so hard. Why is he so angry? He needs to take a chill pill or something. i did kinda bad but I think it was because I was hungry.
Justin Sorry about the stick man, I have an extra Xbox stick you could use for the tournament in Greenville. Just let me know if you need it and I will let you borrow it for the event.
I know that shit sucks I had my GGAC stolen once at a tournament, and you know the bad part it is not like I am all pious condemning all thief’s but anyone steals from the FG community needs to be castrated while being drawn and quartered.
Hope to see you guys next sunday at the 5v5 in Greenville SC as Charleston v Upstate v Cola v NC v GA to see who the best in the southeast at SF4
