i use to get smash instead of dash upper from 1p side about 25% of the time when i first started using ex DU combos. Its usually just being so concerned to get the stick back to down back after doing the motion for DU that you dont go all the way to forward but d/f instead. just gotta sit down and forcibly think about going from downback to forward rather than downback to down forward

John, I can do it about 90% of the time by doing what ryan said… Also I try to do tiger knee motion from ST by trying to hit D,U instead of forward… It works out pretty good when you try that…

On the Smash/Upper issue, I try to roll the stick to u/f as soon as I hit f to avoid getting Smash.

Funny thing is I played Balrog in two matches in the team tournament with a half-broken stick and I basically won with no problems.
I missed two crouching jabs on that stick. And charging wasn’t really working too well either for some reason. Kevin had the same problem with that stick.
