What time should we be there, Thomas?

Anyone know if Thomas is in Goose Creek? Thats what I get in google maps, sorry I’ve been here a year but I am still pretty lost :stuck_out_tongue:

Hey guys my wife just got her new schedule and found out she works 12 nights in a row so she asked me to go out with her tonight and get drinks. Obviously thats what I am going to do, which sucks I already had my sticks in my car and shit. I will definitely be able to make all casuals for the next week even 1v1 if somebody’s bored, just shoot me a pm.

Is this still going on? Tried txt’ing Thomas, got done a lot earlier then expected.

ya i learned this lesson in tournament.
but is anything on for tonight? or tommorow whichever the 5th is its late at night

Good games tonight in mahvel. I learned some new shit:

  1. Mash forward or back + H while being combod…they might mess up and you get a throw! Also, try doing the same thing when the opponent’s new character comes in. You might get a free air throw (this has not been tested enough to verify).
  2. I enjoyed playing my experimental team of Ammy/Dorm/Sentinel. Think I might play it more often. Ammy is definitely good. On Xbox Live, she was giving my main team (Sent/Dorm/Doom) the most problems because of her small size, so I decided to also utilize that trait. I even tried mashing Haggar’s double lariat assist against Ammy but she’s too small to get hit by that. Fight fire, with fire. Experimental team #2, the Deadpool/Dorm/Sent team is pretty sick at zoning!
  3. Ammy has exceptional air/ground throw priority, and you can do a super right after it. VERY easy. Utilize Ammy’s counter move against players who like to rushdown. Her zoning capabilities are also really good. Blocking all that ice builds a ton of meter for Dormammu to burn. She is definitely a really good battery. Only bad thing about her I see, is that she has low health.
  4. Being in the corner is bad against Zaine’s Magneto. He will take about 70%+ life even without a super. Killing him is top priority. He’s hard to block and freaking fast.
  5. Thor’s dashing special moves go right through Dormammu’s purification. Fortunately, Thor is quite slow.
  6. Even though Sentinel was weakened, he’s still a great anchor.
  7. Akuma doing hurricane kick over and over again is good against my Dormammu w/o a Haggar assist, can’t pushblock the dude!
  8. If I throw a cheese ball with Dormammu, and then immediately switch to another character, even if you hit the new point character that cheese ball ain’t going nowhere, in other words, you will have to block it or annihilate it with certain supers.

Hey guys, good shit tonight, I need to hit the lab and now I have a reason to. Can’t wait to be back with some hopefully more challenging game play.

Get owned by rotating shift work.

Seriously, though. I miss it.

The f+H is good because you can mix-up throw with extra hits. That’s why push blocking it is so difficult.

Amaterasu, Felicia, and She-Hulk have the best air throw range in the game.

In the corner, air throw gives you free combos (land, M-H-S, sj.M-H-H-H-S, land, dd+M (Sword), iDive Slash xx qcf+S XX super, Dive Slash xx qcf+S XX super

Fool if you want to learn how to play Ammy just call and ask :stuck_out_tongue:

Just to aid in your learning, i figured id throw some additional information towards these 3 specific points you listed.

  • The only way to net a throw on a new incoming character is if they were hitting buttons or if you perform a “guard break” ala MvC2 (you cant actually prevent them from blocking attacks however by hitting j.a when someone comes in, you open up the ability to land a throw when the block stun from j.a goes away). if the opponent does nothing, u cant throw them (unless you do the guard break)

  • Against Akuma’s tatsu (and i guess Ryu’s even though its not nearly as big a problem), you pushblock the 2nd or 3rd hit and you get a punish (with Dorm, u can do cr.B, E, or Chaotic Flame super). When you dont have meter to punish with CF, you can drop a flame carpet in advance and use it to aid in the punishment

  • A poor man’s setup for the cheese ball -> tag new partner in that you were discussing involves dropping the flame carpet then tagging out immediately right after you kill a character off. Your opponent’s character lands on the flame carpet (it hits low) and your new point character can hit with an overhead…free unblockables

As I manage to be hungover on cinco de mayo instead of after. Fail.

Thanks all for the tips…when we were playing yesterday, we found an unblockable with Dormammu. If opponent lands on Flame carpet, call any high hitting assist and teleport behind. I can’t remember the exact details but it was unblockable.

Figured out a great way to hit confirm with Chun today, wish I had paid more attention to the guide. Guess chun can rapid attack with standing light, if you time it just right you can combo 5 light attacks without legs coming out. Now to figure out how to use it for something more then a guaranteed launch or hyper. Also doing some work on unblockables, do they even really exist in the game? It seems you can get out of most by blocking up back. My approach is call assist, air dash crossup, delay it for a second so that pogo stick hits low then either pogo again or lightning legs seems like it would be very hard to block.

GGs last night to everyone last night. Its been a couple of weeks since I had ppl over for some marvel but it was fun. Nice to meet u Gavin at least it looks like u will stick around and give us comp in the future. Anybody gaming Saturday???

good games last night to everyone. it was nice to me you and your wife gavin.

Yes, true unblockables do exist. Certain moves require low blocking, and some require stand blocking. Call an assist that hits low, like She-Hulk’s slide and hit with a jump-in at the same time. Can’t block high and low at the same time = free combo. Working on Viper’s Burning Kick assist timing, as it requires a stand block in MvC3 to set up guaranteed combos with Mag. It’s good times.

Is this the appropriate thread for Myrtle Beach area? I’ll be visiting throughout the weekend, and would love to play some new people.

Edit:

I’m driving down now, if anything’s happening Saturday or Sunday, please feel free to text me or call me (404.624.6386) - I have a stick and a dreamcast with me, I mainly play MvC2, but will play anything Capcom.
