Hey I have some questions about charge partioning.
When charge partioning does it not work if you:
a) charge for more than the full 1s before the partion.
b) charge for more than the full 1s after the partion.
c) charge for more than the full 1s with the two partions combined?
ie. c.hp, mk tackle xx hp aegis, hk tackle, (charge x %), dash, (charge y %), attempt headbutt.
so can x be over the full required charge or can y or does x+y have to pretty much equal 1 sec?
Second question/request is:
can someone give me an exact break down of when you start changing the first half of the headbutt for the above mid screen unblockble?
Thanks in advance.
PS. I know this forum has a search feature but all the charge partioning threads are too messy now.
Okay, x+y has to pretty much equal 1 sec. There is a bit of leeway in the system, but not much.
And as for the midscreen, unblockable, I always start immediately after I input rk tackle to hit him into the reflector. Try to have as little gaps in your partitioning as possible.
Hope this helped.
Chris
a) won’t work because the total charge has to be equal to about 1 sec.
b) will work but is not considered a partitioned charge since you would really be doing the entire charge in the action following the dash. The game would read it as some random action, a dash, then a headbutt.
c) the total has to be about 1 full second, but if you’re off by a little the game will still give it to you.
I start charging somewhere in between the moment that the hk tackle is input on the joystick and the moment that the hk tackle actually hits the opponent. It’s closer to when the tackle hits the opponent. So, try starting the charge a bit before Urien impacts the Aegis.
You can begin by practicing something basic like: standing fierce, dash, crouching lk, lp headbutt
As soon as youve pressed the fierce button start holding down. When the fierce animation ends dash forward and press down + lk, then up + lp.
If thats too easy you can try this setup:
*mp headbutt, mp Aegis, dash, partitioned mp headbutt, then break their guard *
Your opponent can roll out of this setup, but the reason its good to practice with is that there are audio clues that make getting the timing down very easy after a little practice. You start to charge down after Urien says the “A” in “A-gis”. Then you dash after Urien says “Reclect” in “Reflect-or”. This charges almost all of the headbutt, so after the dash just press down, up + mp.
If you can do those learning the midscreen UB shouldnt be too bad. Just follow Ctye85s advice. Imo the hard part is storing close to the full amount of charge before the dash, without overcharging. If Urien is jumping instead of doing a headbutt, you should try replacing the dash with up + mp. If a headbutt comes out you know that youve been overcharging, so start charging down a little later.
Charge time max is about 1.5 seconds, keep that in mind when doing any charge partition. It’s very easy to go over and the RH Tackle into the Aegis for Midscreen Unblockable will make you overcharge if you hold down right away. The best advice for that is to get the habit of pausing for a moment before pressing down after doing your tackle. It’ll be about half a second, It’s like the time it takes to hit up and then start charging down for your partition. Works relatively well, but remember also that you can have your days where you can partition and then others when you just can’t do them at all when you’re first starting out. Don’t get discouraged or frustrated, consistency comes with time and practise.
High Jump = 75% of charge
st. HK= 75% of charge
down HK = 75% of charge
Kneedrop = 75% of charge
Jump = 50% of charge
down MK = 50% of charge
st. Fierce = 50% of charge
lp headbutt = 50% of charge
Dash = 25% of charge
down LP/LK = 25% of charge
(please help with the list :wonder:)

example: Big jump, dash ,headbutt
jump, dash*2, tackle
down MK, back dash, dash, headbutt
jump, dash, backdash (throw baits opponent sometimes) then Ex headbutt.
dash is more like 33% of charge, since dash dash dash headbutt is quite possible.
same for sMP (whiffed. Any blocked or connected hit deals more charge time)
I’d say that st fierce is around 60%~65%. You can whiff sHP, dash, headbutt with little effort.
And you can actually get a full charge on a high jump, I’ve done that plenty of times. You just have to be very fast on pulling the stick on d/b right after activating the superjump (ideally, you are already back to the d/b direction during the pre-jump frames.
Executing the same way, a normal jump is around 70% of charge. You can whiff stMP, normal (directional) jump, reversal headbutt on landing.
Personally, I find that the tip of “starting the charge pretty much just after the second hk tackle” is a bad tip. That makes for too much charge. Unless you stop charging before he’s done tackling. Which just makes things weird. I usually start charging a little before he physically hits with the tackle, and do not stop holding down until urien’s capable of moving (dashing).
Also on the whiffing mp then normal jumping into a ‘reversal’ headbutt on landing… There’s enough charge without the mp, you can just jump and headbutt on landing… o_O Or I can. Or maybe I’m always storing some charge and I don’t think about it, but I’m pretty sure a jump has enough charge…
jump doesn’t have enough charge, but it comes close to it.
standing fierce seems to be 60% of a charge (assuming dash is 33%), i generally need to hold down either a tiny bit before or after it to get a dash up lp headbutt afterwards. i do partioning by feel not math
1/You can do 3*f+MP and then CRUSH or Headbutt (useful when you’re cornered and do cr.HP, crush , and don’t have meter to Aegis, the crush/headbutt hits on wakeup and people usually don’t expect that).
2/You can also do 2*f+MP and then Crush/Headbutt (different timing, as you’ll charge a tiniy second longer after the second f+MP) Useful to surprise with the EX Headbutt
3/ LP Headbutt, UOH, LP Headbutt, UOH, LP Headbutt UOH all day is nice
EDIT for #3/, you can randomly dash before or after the UOH, and still do a headbutt
example: lp headbutt, uoh, lp headutt, dash backwards, uoh, EX headbutt (surpriiiiiiiise) --> death of opponent
