the coolest stage IMO is the mvc1 bathhouse. break the wall and youre in the sf2 bathhouse
At least I mentioned the name of the game.
If you said underwater tube and said CotA, I’d know what you’re talking about.
If I said Fatal Fury and said Mt. Rushmore… or Street Fighter Alpha - Snowy train field…
You’d know what I was talking about whether I said that or if I hummed the theme music for Terry or Bison/Sodom.
Fuck that noise, the beauty of GG is that their OST has different type of songs, if anything going by the work on GG2ndO, we can be sure that there would be songs with a lot of Symphonic elements but also songs with more hard rock/ classic heavy metal sound.
Look at Keep Yourself Alive 3, Holy Orders 3 and Worthless as the Sun Above Clouds.
Is the whole array that makes every song stand from what they offer, plus imagine a more symphonic oriented Awe of She or Blood Stained Linage, Keep the Flag Flying with real violins would be fucking epic imo.
Now, i hope that they add classics like A Fixed Idea, Suspicious Cook, Conclusion, Love Letter From… (specially if they are done as the GG Sound Complete Box) and for the love of god, that they take away Nothing Out of the Ordinary and bring back Fatal Duel.
well I think the focus has shifted away from that type of atmosphere and more so on the quality of a games combat which should always be a prioity. I do miss character specific stages though because it added to the identity of a character.
I dunno, maybe I just got worn out by how much synth was in the more recent Arc OSTs.
I hate playing on training stages. they are the worst! I understand why they are picked but they are generally the most boring thing possible that you could have going on in the background.
CvS2 training stage was one of my favorites from that game.
No use having multiple stages when there’s stage lag. I was excited for the new mvc3 stages but only two of them are ever used.
Shao Kahn’s arena in MKII is nice

Other reasons for only picking a few stages.
- Brightness, colors. Main reason why nobody picked Volcanic Rim in vanilla SFIV. Also, the UMvC3 players I know tend to prefer the brighter stages.
- Using the stage objects as reference. Most obvious when people pick the training stage. Best example would probably be Infiltration and Laugh who have mentioned practicing using the lines of the stage to gain an advantage.
I don’t like anything but the training stage in SFxT because of all the shit that’s going on in the background. I find it really distracting. I can tolerate the Pandora’s Box stage or the space shuttle too, but something like the Jurassic Research stage or the one with the fucking Wooly Mammoth chasing you? No fucking thanks.
CvS2 had simple stages that were fine. I didn’t mind any of them, as far as I can recall. Most games from that generation are fine, I think… These days though… the backgrounds are too loud with shit. The older games also had simple color schemes that make things blend in. I mean, look at Dudley’s stage in 3S, it’s a very dull color and nothing stands out. I hate all that background noise. It’s just obnoxious. The restaurant stage in KoF pisses me off too at times.
SFII Honda’s Ending Theme also goes well with bath house. One of the bootlegs replaces his BGM with his ending theme.

Personally, I like the one at the top of the dojo roof. It’s a great callback to SF2, 3S and CvS2.
Yeha, but it only stays that way for the first round, then they jump down and there’s dudes dancing around the background… Mishima Estate, right?
Round 1 is fine on that one, but then it changes… smh
Stages with rain and lighting+thunder are awesome.
CvS2 rooftop being one of my favorites.
That park stage in KOF99 was rad too.
But I’d have to go with that roofstop stage from Tekken 6, that music that went with it was too good.
Alpha 2 Australia stage needs to comeback. It has so many great elements. Thuder, lightning, grass, darkness, emptiness. Even when you win, there’s no crowd to gloat to, there’s no one in your corner to help you. Just you and your opponent.
You forgot one element extreme lag.

Training stage of SFxT is one the stages I hate the most. I hate the busy look of the design. Shit reminds me of Michael Bay’s Transformers.
Well since this turned into a worst-stages discussion: MvC3’s S.H.I.E.L.D. helicarrier at night. Tons of background elements that look like they’re part of the game.
KoFXII stage with all the fat ladies was the best thing about that game.
