Character Select Fan Art Challenge

Damn, you did all that on break? Speaking of work, what are you working on now or can you not say?

Nice work SFMC, you guys are awesome! I know my way around flash so I find it easy to color vector art. I’ll try again on the Ken pic so don’t post that one. Here is my info:

Name: Lamar Arrington
SN: Star250
Email: MarStar250@gmail.com

Here’s the Ken. I got exams, I don’t know if I can make another before the deadline. I wanted to do the shoryuken pose.

Here’s an early Sagat. I then realized that we’re doing the SFA3 incarnations, but eh.

SFMC: Sweet sketch man. Too bad you didn’t have time to add the flames. Where are you working at now? I too, sometimes draw my characters during a break at work.

4neqs: Pretty cool dude. Watch your proportions. Your people are a little stumpy lookin. Smaller head and longer legs should do the trick. And I’ll have you know, although not as close to godliness, Sagat crouching fierce is pretty damn good in SFA3 as well

If Photoshop was a person I would be trying to punch it in the eye right now. Anyway, here is my Ken done in flash.

^Sweet. Although, this version reminds me of Kairi from EX2 though.

Thanks CW

Thx guys. At least you guys have more of a finished look than mine. Where do you guys get the time to do finished inked pics like that? great job guys. Nice touch on the Ken star. Dude flash looks so advance now since version 4 which I previously used like 4 to 5 years ago haha. I suck at it now.

Deon and Chain I work in New York now at Curious Pictures. We are working on a tv show called Little Einsteins for Disney. I am one of the background designers. Trailer should be somewhere on the net. Curious works with many of clients and I am fortunate to have been working on this project.

Nice, NY. Rollin in tehm big bucks, lol. That sound cool as hell though, have you caught up with your bro? I remember you said he worked on Pixar’s Robots

Haha he wished he worked for Pixar. Bluesky Studios is actually the ones who did Iceage and Robots. Yeah I caught up with him. What are you up to now these days deo?

OIC, Right now im working on this comic book thing with some friends. Our first issue should be out by November along with other projects by the end of the year.

Star: That Ken is pretty sweet. Hehe, photoshop ain’t that hard to use, but it looks like you’re quite handy with Flash anyways. If you’re still interested in PS, check out this photoshop tutorial. It’s one of the oldest coloring tutorials on the net, but you wouldn’t believe how many people started by looking at this tutorial. A good start point: Click

SFMC: Where do I get the time? Simple answer: I don’t work as hard as you do. Haha. Just kidding… well, half kidding. I guess the real answer is that it’s a matter of priorities. Since this challenge is my baby, I’m quite obligated to submit every week, so somewhere in the 168 hours in a week, I can find 3 hours in there somewhere to take a pic from start to finish. That, and like I said, I don’t work as hard. I’m interning at a 3D animation studio that has a steady amount of work for a 2D guy like me, but not an abundance of it. It sounds like you got a pretty sweet gig at Curious. Are you permanent staff, or hired freelance?

Deon: Sounds cool man. Any more details you can leak? Do you guys have a publisher lined up to release it, or are you guys doing it independently?

Pete and D, you guys gotta throw some more stuff down, it’s not the same w/o you guys. :frowning:

Chain: Well is Raven Comics and we are pretty small time. Diamond is our distrubuter, the same folks that do DC and Marvel. Right now we have several comics lined up and I pencil two of them. The site is down right now, but when it gets back up, I’ll post a link.

Kan: Im trying man, I got like 10 pages left on the first issue. I’ll try to squeeze some time in for some quickies. Might do an Akuma.

Awesome, awesome, awesome, awesome!!1! Yo thanks for the link dude1

SFMC: Yo dude, do you use photoshop for your pics? Just so I know what I can work towards… baby steps.

Thought I’d try something different again:

I want to color him still, but for now here’s the line work. I drew it on the back of piece of paper with print. Stupid me.

My ken picture, colored, and basically made into something totally different and way better by the great PsychoSquall.

Hey guys. Just finished the weekly update.

greyhoundbus: I like that. Very clean and graphic. Watch how the pec connects to the armpit. The shoulder muscle(deltoid) and the pecs actually blend into each other fairly seamlessly. The lower part of the pec kinda tucks under into the armpit, and then the deltoid overlaps/blends with the upper pec.

ak-UMAR: Looks good man. Try adding more yellows and whites to the flame to make it look like it’s glowing. And since the flame is so close to him, don’t be afraid to lay on the highlights from the flames heavier.

Bandit: Pretty neat. Hehe, gotta watch the scraggly hair. It seems to be a bad habit of yours. Instead of making ends for the hair all over, try to make it smooth where the hair is long, and only have ends at the, well, end. I think you may have gone just a little overboard with the speed lines too, lol.

VSlash: Tell PsychoSquall he did a damn fine job.

Here’s my Ken. I did a different drawing of him, more like the ones that I have been doing, but then I left my flash drive with the scan of it at work over the weekend and I don’t have a scanner here. So, for now, here’s a Photoshop sketch:

http://ronssketchpad.combovideos.com/csfac/ken/images/ron_chan.jpg

damn looking good everyone.

Vslash the color on there look good. I didn’t know psychosquall can color like that.

Good sketch chain. Too bad we only get the sketch version the final was probably killer. Only thing that stands out is that biceps and triceps. When you bend your arm like that the tris actually go lower and biceps shorten making a ball.

Overall keep them coming guys.
