Guile was hidden? I thought he was a console-only character. Along with “Evil” Ryu, Balrog, T. Hawk, Deejay, and Fei Long. I vote we do them at the end just for giggles.
Chain - Dood, these brushes RULE. Where can I get more, I wanna test them out on my tab when I get it back! I did kinda wing that hand though. I’ll try to be a little slower and more precise on my sketches.
Vicious - Sweet expression man, keep at it.
4 neqs - Nice sparkles, man.
Seba - Dood, your gief’s gotta huge pouch. I like your expressions alot, man.
Rook - No way am I the king of anything, except the king of suck, LOL.
I see alot of ken’s comin around, I’ll save the comp and crits for next week on them.
edit: Nice solid colors, JzChu!
^ Lol!..
I thought to myself, “I shouldn’t rob Zangief of his earthly previleges”…
I like your expressions a lot more!..

Bored, so I did another Akuma. This time in a more common angry SHOOOSH pose.
ViciousSLASH - His fist’s pretty big, though that’s not unusual in Capcom-style art. What a charming smile.

I have a feeling I might not be able to contribute as much after this. Getting busier n experiencing a slight artist block :s. Urf…

Awesome!!!
Looking good Mr. Twelve.
I made this ken after watching the Street Fighter Alpha movie.
Sup doods. The website has been updated. There are some artists that don’t post here, but email entries to me instead, so be sure to check it out!
greyhoundbus: Pretty nice. I think there is some distortion going on in his facial structure, and I think he could be a bit more muscular. You had some excellent musculature going on with that Gief. I’d like to see some of that applied to Ken as well. Be careful with the collarbone though. It should stick out at the top, but on the bottom it should blend fairly seamlessly with the pec.
seba: Sweet as pic, man. It’s great to see scenes of people interacting, and the expressions are great. Be careful with your spacial relationships though. If Eliza is at a profile view with us, and her arm is in that position, should she really be able to reach her arm all the way to hold on to Ken’s other side? Same with Ken’s arm. If his elbow is up near her right shoulder, shoud his hand be able to reach all the way down to her left hip?
VSlash: Cool Ken pic! The style you drew the face in definately reminds me of something I’ve seen, but I can’t pinpoint what. I think his ponytail might be a bit on the long side, but that’s not really a problem. Rook covered the other critique I would have. Cool Akuma pen pic too. It’s fun to go straight at the paper with pens. Be careful about adding lots of markmaking. It can look good, but try not to add too much of it if there isn’t really a reason for it. It doesn’t seem like the pic needs the vertical hatching you’ve added to his skin. And the pencil Akuma pic is great. Nice job with the pose and having that arm coming at the viewer. The point where his shoulder muscle meets his bicep is just a little odd. Check out the muscle chart I posted or the referece that Landel posted to see where the muscle should insert into.
jz_chu: Nice snarl you got going there on Gief. I think the no eyebrows looks just a little odd on him though. Also, when drawing beards, make sure to draw the face underneath first, so you have the chin structure to build on. If you take away his beard in that pic, he wouldn’t have much of a chin under it.
Deon: Yes, after the standard arcade characers are finished, I’ll append the console/hidden characters onto the site.
Kando: Yeah, those brushes are pretty neat. Some of them are extra cool if you use them with a tablet. Lots of effects. I’ve recently found a standard photoshop brush that I like using. In the Dry Media set, the last brush is the “Pastel Medium Tip” brush. Take that, and set the flow to pen pressure, and you’ve got a good sketching brush that acts a bit like smeary charcoal. Here’s a quick drawing I did with it: Click Give it a try when you’re tablet is back in action. Kind of fun.
DanSC: Lol, I like what you have him saying. The pose turned out pretty nice too. I think the muscle definition is a little uneven. Since the abs are so clearly defined it seems like his other muscles should be as clearly defined to match.
Twelve: Hot shit, mang. Very beautiful sketch. The only thing that I see that seems a little off is her left elbow seems a bit odd the way that it flattens out. I hope that you can keep em coming, dude, even if it has to be late.
HB: Very cool man. Something about this pic kind of reminds me of the way Joe Mad drew Ryu for the SF #1 backup story. Great job with the lighting. I think there’s something just a little funny going on with his eyes, so that I can’t quite tell where he’s looking.
OK, enough blabbing from me. Here’s my Giefs. One in my usual style:

…and one more goofy one:

Keep up the good work fellas!
I held back on the muscle since this was alpha Ken I was doing (I did the same with Ryu). These are their younger, chubbier selves =p. I do draw older Ken with all the muscles popping out, like here:

My Akuma will have a lot more of the scary muscle thing going for him =). Copy on the collarbone… I tend to randomly exaggerate stuff… sigh.
It looks like a beetle shell eh ? Or someone else said it looked like some shoulder missiles. The crowd in SRKGD on mIRC is a ruthless bunch of critiquers I’ll tell you that much. They help a lot.
Don’t know why I put that line there, I just do sometimes, oh well.
Fantastic Rose, Mr. 12.
Ken & Akuma
I did Akuma in flash which is a program I use alot, but as for the Ken picture (I forgot to do Alpha Ken) this was the first time I tried to color a pencil in photoshop.
Damn I wish i had more time to catch up, but apparently I can’t.
You guys have been drilling out some hot stuff. Chain man your gen is my favorite from all your drawings.
Damn 12 that rose is off the wall. Good taste in the fast confident strokes man. You should do more.
Hb that os a hot ass pose.
star you must be the new guy. Good akuma. Did you use illustratpr for that cell shaded style? or the pen tool in ps?
Vslash. Keep it up bro.
Overall great work by everyone.
Wow…these are like…AMAZING!..I wish I knew how to do all those effects. I can’t wait on Chun-Li or Charlie’s week, the two coolest people. lol
yo ppl’s ive been watching this thread for about a week now. it really is a pleasure looking thru it. had to quote this one, cuz well…i luve greyscale like this. its really awesome. keep up the good work guys.
I used the brush tool in Macromedia Flash for Akuma. I’m new to all the Adobe programs, but I’m learning.
Star250: Hey there, and welcome to the challenge! Pretty cool Akuma you got there. He’s got quite the psychotic grin. I think it would be cool to see the black lines be a little more prominent or not there at all. Right now they are a little in between, almost there. I think it would be cool to see what this style might look like with more hatch shading like you have hinted at near the back of his jawline. Is it difficult to do colored drawings in flash? I’ve never tried that before, I’ve only done line art and a little animating. It looks like you have the right idea going on the Photoshop one, but came across some techinical problems in photoshop. There are lots of guides that can teach you different methods of coloring scanned artwork in photoshop without losing your drawing underneath. The simplest (but not necissarily the best or most versitile) way to do it is to make a duplicate layer of your lineart, set that layer to “multiply” mode, and add your colors onto layers underneath that. Hope that helps! Post me your info so that I can add you to the participating artists list on the next update. Thanks!
SFMC: Hey man, don’t worry about having to catch up with every single character. If you have time to do any of the characters, it would be cool to see them. Don’t gotta be a digital painting either. Could be as simple as a sketchbook scan.
Well here is my Ken. I gotta do these at breaktime during work now. Yeah Chain if I got time I’d do the other 2 I missed. These digi sketches take the same time as regular sketching without the scanning so it’s faster for me just to do it on the comp.

wanted to do a flaming punch, but no time to get fancy. Gotta get back to work!
