Hey guys, I haven’t touched the game yet, but I’m wondering what each character’s assists are? I’ve been looking through a lot of the threads and theres great information in there, but I don’t see many people explaining the character’s assists and what they do. Is there any way to record or describe what each character’s assist does?
real quick, since most people aren’t talking about assists much here for some reason:
ryu: fireball
morrigan: fireball (slow start up)
batsu: guts upper (short range, knocks opponent up)
soki: dashing shoulder attack (knocks opponent up slightly, should have super armor)
saki: big slow gun swing
chun li: up kicks (knocks opponent really high, hits several times)
alex: elbow rush (good range/speed, hits opponent up slightly)
megaman: drill upper (knocks opponent up)
roll: water bucket, basically a projectile
viewtiful joe: bomb, long duration (does this bomb still hit the point character?)
ken: birdrang projectile (really slow start up, does not have a return path)
cashhern: ground chop (knocks opponent up, slow, huge hitbox, hits OTG)
polymer: triple kicks (knocks opponent up, unlike normal version)
karas: reflector (fast, short ranged, puts opponent in “semi-grounded”, staggering state where subsequent hits knock them airborne, still reflects projectiles)
hakushon: standing fierce
jun: mid-ranged projectile (does not hit up close)
tekkaman: 30 degree upwards grappling hook (tosses opponent up for a combo, unlike the normal version which just slams them down)
yatterman: mid-ranged projectile, like jun
doronjo: kiss taunt, sends a reallllly slow moving heart projectile forward
ippatsuman: honda torpedo (knocks opponent up slightly)
best all around assist? almost definitely ryu. fast start up, does a large chunk of damage, easily extends combos and leaves the opponent on the ground, easily implemented into standard offense
karas has a good assist for defensive purposes, also can be useful in combos
I’ve seen some videos with some lethal Karas assists. He really is a sick character.
Roll and Doronjo stagger enemies when their assist hits.
Roll’s is also very nice because if it misses, it puts a puddle on the ground.
Does Doranjo’s kiss do any damage? And if not, does it effect damage scaling at all?
The kiss is a projectile as far as I know. Not sure about damage scaling though.
Yes it does. Also, like Joe you can kick it towards your opponent.
I tried using the bomb with Saki/Karas to see if their respected Counter supers would activate when the bomb explodes, yeah. They don’t. x.x;
If you call for the assist right before you mega crush, the mc will fire the bomb over to the other side of the screen like a missile.
Why would you want to waste meter like that though? Seems highly impractical.
How good is Chun-Li’s assist?
it is a launcher so it probubly works well with air combos and saki’s blast and stuff. but i dont have the game yet.
Very cool. I don’t have the game either, but I think I’ll be starting with Saki and Chun-Li. Saki seems like she’d play similarly to Cable, which is helpful in my analogous playstyle when it comes to any game that isn’t Mortal Kombat, and Chun-Li is…Chun-Li. She’s as familiar as Capcom fighters have ever gotten for me aside from Marvel vs. Capcom 2 Cyclops.

Saki is nothing like cable. At all.
She is great, and fun, but nothing at all like Cable.
saki’s assist might be able to set up infinites
Why do you say this? No AHVB? She plays like a very good zoning character who needs an assist to cover her laggy moves.
Do any of the assists have invincibility frames or higher priority than others? I really want to play this game like I would play MvC2 (Team Scrub all day).
