That’s exactly why I never watch vids of games I won’t be able to play. I know it will just make me sad.
My interest only sparks when a home port is announced.
And I prefer a web site that will just give me a code to my e-mail, instead of actually shipping the card.
Yeah, sometimes I just can’t help myself, especially being in California, where arcades are still wavering on the edge of a vegetative state and we actually get arcade ports of games. We have everything BUT Chaos Breaker. We even had Jewpuncher on arcade, ffs.
But yeah, play-asia gives you the option for codes sent via e-mail instead of physically shipping the card unless they changed it within the last couple of weeks.
Bernhard’s corner combos are one of the main reasons I am so hyped for this game; that character is awesome.
But yeah if you have enough bars and the right item, you can do disgusting damage in the corner with virtually anyone.
Goblin is the only one who comes to mind that can’t really do game-changing shit, but I think he is the worst in the game so it makes sense.
Maybe, maybe not.
No new info about the console ports, but I’m thinking not.
after watching some videos the game looks cool as hell. I don’t have a ps3 though :(.
On another note, it doesn’t seem very combo heavy. I saw like 2-3 hitters at max outside of corner combos or moves into super. So is this generally gonna be an instant block counter poke kinda game rather than heavy combo damage?
Also didn’t see much anti air action going on, looked like a lot of people just jumping in for free.
Over half of the cast has 6+ hit BNBs midscreen, you were probably watching a LOT of Ramdas. He is just a big damage single-poke/2-in-1 sort of character, with the ability to extend combos with certain items. Same with Bernhard, except his corner combos are…nasty. And a few of the bulkier characters like Troll and Cursehead. But Nagar, Vritra, Orc, etc, all have fairly large combos considering they take minimal inputs. Orc’s meterless BNB for instance is an 8-hitter without a jump-in. But no, this game isn’t going to be like Blazblue where you have to do a 30+ hit combo to do 20% with some characters(not literally, but you get what I’m saying). It’s more like KOF2002UM in that respect, where it’s not necessarily a combo-heavy game, but it is an offensive game nonetheless.
The reason there isn’t too much anti-air action going on (outside of occasional anti-air supers/Item IBs) is because you risk your anti-air getting clashed with an opponent’s jump attack and having them be able to hit you with another move anyways. Or the defender can choose to fish for a guard cancel to push back the offender, or like I said, burn the bar for super and hit you for ~30-40% out of the air. It seems a bit awkward to get used to compared to the rudimentary defense/offense game of SF2/4, but it actually makes for a good balance of offense and defense.
That didn’t work with Shadowrun. Really fun MP shooter but all you ever heard from fans of the original Shadowrun was that it wasn’t a real Shadowrun game. It had other problems as well, just very few problems with the actual gameplay lol.
If you slapped WoW or DnD on that I bet it’d be the same shit, just bitch tears about how the skeleton horse guy’s powers aren’t following canon or something.
lol you could say that about a lot of fighting games. I’d be shocked if most people listened or believed it though, SF4 is totally deep mannnnnnn!
Of course, but a lot of players here have a basis in the more basic fighters like ST and SF4 and might be in for a little surprise when they decide to give this a shot. Chaos Breaker’s offensive/defensive shift is different from even Blazblue/GG/Melty, and even different than King of Fighters which it is most like. Well, that and a bit of 3s. It’s just different in general, it’s hard to categorize completely as far as relating it to a certain style.
And yeah, SF4 is the zenith of complexity, I can barely wrap my mind around it; that’s how you know it’s gonna be a gem that is gonna last for generations to come.
Man all the recent vids 4r5 have are with 2v2 with 2 items. Seems like they are either trying to figure out how to get those secret items or 2v2 with 2 stacked items is that shit like it looks to me.
Either way I am in love with this game. Any news on an actual date to look for it?
We’re gonna need an “official” thread for this game when it comes out. You know, one that breaks down game mechanics and stuff in the first post for easy access.
That said, I’m hype as fuck for this terrible game.
Ah thanks for the clear up. Yeah now that I think about it I was watching Ramda. That’s good though because I’m a guile player so that seems like someone I’d be interested in. Other than that, the item system looks really crazy and unique. Kinda reminds me of the custom matches you could do in soul calibur 4 by changing a characters weapons and giving them special attributes when doing things in a fight like guard impacting.
