Hacking MVC2 and changing motions for how moves are done?
It would be pretty neat to change moves in the game I admit, like giving Shuma Gorath fireball motions for mystic stare and bash, and same for guile’s moves. However once you get to the arcade and play, it is the same as before.
Just handicapping oneself in the end by not adapting to the system. I would rather take the time to learn how to change the music instead, just because the arcade originals soundtrack is lousy, does not mean the console should be too.

iirc, it has something to do with changing the code so that different sprites are loaded for each character. That’s why when Sakura is on screen, her lifebar says “Cammy” and she’s performing Cammy’s special moves.
There was a similar video of someone doing this in training mode a long time ago. There was also a CvS2 video released, where someone discovered a Mai sprite that was programmed into the game, but never actually used.
It’s been a while though, I might have my information mixed up.

from what I heard, they just swapped the files around on the disc… but thats just what I heard.
Same happens with gameshark.

They just made Mai more boobalicious, IIRC.
That is what they did.
I got a bunch of vids from character swapping. If you want them, I can just upload them so it kills your curiosity entirely.

wow, what the heck! megaman has a new special. and he also shoots his power ball downward instead of horizontal… sakura doing cammy moves. this could mean endless possibilities… new assist combos right?
thats if sakura STILL has some of her own moves + gained cammy ones? or is it sakura’s picture ONLY with all cammy moves? cause if so, then no new assist combos or anything

The S_PL00 - S_PL39 files, (A-F versions for each character. Not sure why) are, Im pretty sure, the ones you want to mess with. I know I did with cable, and it would get glitchy; like calling in a cable projectile assist would lock him on screen, totally looking like he was doing a S-Groove ‘chi charge’.
Here’s the numbers for each of the characters. Go through and start swapping files around between characters and see what kind of neat shit you can create.

So I can swap the files for kobun and tron and then kobun can drill? Beats the fuck outta me. You’re talking some random shit, up to and including locking the damn game. It may not even work at all. Your mileage may vary.
So how I do (improve Jin’s frame advantage/Give MOrrigan a AHVB/Nerf Storm/give a move invincibility/whatever)? Dunno. What you see here is all I know.
Can you write a guide? Nope.
So what good is all this? It tell’s you which character’s data you’re messing with.
