ugh! Yeh! Yeh! Cmon Cmon! I want hakan in X_X @_@ everyone needs to tell Ono this: Hakan is a feasible character just because it fits with the entire liquid theme thingy! May get him to think otherwise.
I never got a chance to play SF4 for iphone did he manage to get into the roster in there?
SF developers have said over and again that Hakan is one of their favorite designs that they have came up in a long time, which makes sense considering the absolute grief the design team went though to get the little things on him to work, such as the look of the oil.
Also, out of your list, I would only really consider Zangief popular, and seeing as he is an original, I don’t really think that counts.
Look at the AE patch changes to Hakan. The developers clearly like the design and want people to use him. Otherwise, he would not have received the absolute monstrous amount of changes (change, I would argue, weren’t completely needed, as Hakan has never been bad, he’s just had to work harder than other characters).
ok pals no need to get heated up, I’ll break it down for ya…
Ya well… they’ll all say it’s interesting and had a lot of fun designing EVERY character in the game, no doubt. Just imagine what would people say if you tell, especially to the mass media, that you hate your job or what you are doing that’s going to bring you a bad image both for yourself and your company. It’s just an image building thing y’know. The most important thing is you have certain amount of emotional investment to characters you like playing, so play em, master em, love em! Surely you have your own goal and the designers and the developers have theirs: making money. No need to get fuzzy about it.
Abt tier:
So imagine if hakan is buffed and go up the tier. There will be someone below him. So he needs to be buffed again to be ensured of his viability which will later replace hakan’s tier and push him down below again? So then hakan needs to be buffed again? It’s an never ending process, and the term “rebalancing” and “buffs” “nerfs” is still quite subjective, developers are humans too what they think balanced may not be so balanced in the eyes of others. Well then… let’s just give every character invulnerability and everyone play Yun so they can all feel in the same tier, interesting no? hehehe.
Some people choose to play certain character because it fits them, and I believe you play rose and el fuerte because you have accepted their limitations and enjoy their strengths. Pros play because their priority is to win so they pick a character that both fits them and can handle all situations well. if you want to take hakan to a competitive level, well good for you despite of his limitations! But notice that the anticipation of the crowd when an able hakan is on match up that is because they know in the back of their mind “will he be able to deny the tier with all his big limitations?” (and by saying that of course I acknowledge he has his limitations) but sure it is also interesting to watch 2 pro yuns going teeth and nails at each other because they’re “high tier” explosive battle. I’ve been sticking with hakan for a year now and I feel if i switch to other characters my win (although easier) isn’t as rewarding, I’m sure other members here would agree that we are addicted to the attitude of facing challenge and braving our fears / limitations in the face and refuse to be dictated by simply what is compiled by “tier” in search of easy solution out.
hmmm I’m bored of playing zangief (not that I’m good playing him) but ive spent time with him since sf2, alpha. don’t feel like playing him anymore even though hes there. I’ll still stick with Hugo and marduk / king.
Lupinko just said (however much his word means…) That SFxT has more characters than UMVC3. Theres still a chance! Plus, theres only 2 SF4 reps so far. The game needs atleast 2 more.
Blehhh fuck seth. I dunno I don’t see him in, just because he’s just everyone elses moves. Ono said Juri won’t be in it too, because Koreans hate her, apparently. That leaves C.Viper, Hakan, Fuerte, and Gouken, I believe.
oh yeah totally forgot about that one sexy momma there. Viper is most likely in… well look at MvC she’s quite popular but from the other point of view capcom usually want to rotate the roster so not to keep the repetition going maybe you’re right there is a chance still. if you look at SFvtek’s website [http://www.capcom.co.jp/sfxtk/] there are still about 6 more slots empty above the 2nd line. Now… considering they won’t expand the character entry slots to left and right maybe we have 6 more chars left to unveil :S oh dear…
I’d really like to see him in it, more than any of the other remaining new characters from the SFIV series, but I honestly think that the reaction to him after the 2012 update rolls out will greatly influence whether or not he’s chosen for the roster now or in the future.
The thing is as well, apparently they went through great lengths to make him work in the SF4 engine, and it took a lot out of them. Would they want to go through that again? I’m not sure if they’ve been re-using models or starting them from scratch, but fingers crossed we might get a big surprise.
I believe the leaked list and Hakan is not on it. And for DLC I think they’ll be adding a Cap Boxer and a couple sumo and capoeira guys. I think this is it for now with Hakan. But what if TXSF puts him in? How incredible would that be?
