CGL Super Street Fighter IV Week 2 Qualifier(s) 5/15/10 (Bi-Weekly) Chicago, IL

We figured as much, but again we dont assume. After we have a chance to playtest and evaluate this issue we can comment further. After viewing videos of this infinite combo, we stand on our decision. Only after we have hands on will we comment on or retract our ruling.

what’s hard about it? Also it only works on juri and i’m not sure who else

but whatever, i don’t really care that much

Oh, it only works on Juri?

That must be why it was so hard to do. I wasn’t using Juri as my training dummy.

Even 1 damage per hit is not what I call ‘diminishing returns’.

If I keep the combo going and going and going, I’ll eventually win. So the return isn’t diminishing if I win is it?

“game-breaking glitch”

Chun Li still has her infinite on Dhalsim.

Unblockable Ultras are still in the game.

Can’t wait till I’m not even allowed to oil up for a tournament…

And the KoTH thing is a very bad idea. Very bad. You’ll get like, 8 fights in.

I’m sorry that you feel so negatively about our decision to ban Fei Long’s infinite combo. SSFIV is released tomorrow so we’ll all have a chance to get a few days worth of practice in. We will run through this game extensively and determine if our ban on this infinite will remain or not.

If it’s determined that the combo in question is only valid vs Juri, is insanely technical to pull off, or is anything more than a simple Punch > command move > punch ect then the ban will be lifted. If it’s revealed that this is a relatively simple combo to do vs any character, then the ban will stay. It’s that simple.

As for our King of the Hill event, It’s still on. If one doesn’t wish to participate, there will undoubtedly be casual stations available at that time for everyone to enjoy.

It’s a tough decision to make but you probably made the best choice.

Update

The Fei-Long infinite combo ban is lifted.

After extensive testing, ad nauseum It’s been revealed that:

A) The combo has been hotfixed.
B) It takes a Fei-Long master with the reflexes of a house cat to pull the combo off.
C) We suck.

In any regard, If you can pull this combo off, kudos to you. It’s legal in our tournaments.

Initial post edited to remove the ban.

I don’t think you suck.

See y’all Saturday.

Lol, what I meant to say was: C) We suck with Fei Long.

XD

Looking forward to meeting ya on Saturday.

Friday bump to page topness!

Exhausted…
Hungry…
Dazed…

And ready for May 1st!

Great turnout today!

Thanks to those that came out and had some fun.

Our SSFIV/Tekken 6 continues in 2 weeks! Post to be made when I find the energy…

Reminder that SSFIV & Tekken 6 tournaments are being held on the 15th.

who won and how many ppl came

Nathan D. won the SSFIV tournament, as well as our weekly raffle. The raffle prize was SSFIV for the PS3. Nathan opted to take the cash equivalent ($40).

Our total turnout was 5 competitors, more than we planned for.

Our only disappointment was having to get rid of so much food. :frowning:

Our next SSFIV & Tekken 6 tourney is on the 15th, 2pm reg 3pm start. RSVP if you plan on participating.

You’ll probably get more people if you lowered the venue fee. everyone i talked to mentioned how high it was. Is there any reason why it’s so much to enter? It’s nice that you have food and all that but to be honest people don’t go to a tournament to eat, they go to play games… Anyway you are going up against ACEN on the 15 but still good luck in getting a good turn out next weekend.

To be perfectly honest, our General Admission fee is to cover our costs. Everything that we have at our disposal came from out-of-pocket expenses. We offer food & drinks as a thank you for just showing up. If theres a majority dislike for having complimentary food & drinks, we can remove them and lower the general admission price.

Also, again if the players demand it, we can lower the tournament fee to $5 per person. We advertised $10 to have a more appealing prize pool, but if the players wish for a lower overall amount, then that’s what we’ll do.

Keep in mind that this is a business for us, for the gamers. We aren’t trying to ‘get over’ on anyone by any stretch of the imagination, but we do have to make some sort of profit by the time everything is said & done. Those that came were truly impressed by our setup and location and had no problem with being charged $30 for the day.

We’re also aware of other events happening during the month. We’re here to give people choice, consistency, quality, and we openly and realistically realize that we have to start from the bottom and work our way up to the top.

Pictures of the event will be going up today to give an idea of what to expect from us @ the CGL.
