CFJ is good: Quit overreacting to Jedah, idiots

yeah guy has popped up in a big way. he seems pretty damned good too.

im lovin rose. muk is amazing runaway, ppl have started to use his teleport thingy to jump fb’s and slap you with the j.HP. it can hit you if you throw a fb from full fucking screen!!

ryu suffers against turtles, the speed of his game and his lack of good defence breaking tools hurts him.

Something important to mention is how big an effect meter has on matchups. If you notice, ST characters rarely lose a round 2 because they have meter. Zangief should really never lose a round 2 except to maybe Nool, shouldn’t even to Jedah. He moves once, ARS and fighting the rest of the round is mostly optional.
I think a lot of Zangief matches are really meter dependent. If he can be counted on to consistently have meter he doesn’t really lose to very much I think. Creating teams with structure seems very important. Early on in this game, my main team was Zangief/Karin with Zangief building meter for Karin in round 1 and Zangief struggling a little bit. I find that a team like Alex/Zangief, with Alex building for Zangief, is much much better for Zangief, beating the same characters in round 2 that he would lose to in round 1.

Maybe it’s just Zangief, but I think that meter management is going to be one of the turning points in CFJ. Round 1 vs. round 2 may look like Alpha 3 matchups in reverse. Something to think about.

Co-sign. I’ve said this before, with the exception of Bison(it’s funny how often 4-hit Shin Psycho Crushers come out), the entire game slows to a halt once a SF2 char gets meter, particularly Gief and Ryu. Meter with those two = DON’T FUCKING MOVE. I’ve jumped on all the SF3 chars once they get one bar, and have never thought twice about it(CHun’s Kikosho is pretty beefy, though). But once Ryu gets meter, I back pedal a little, try to get him to get frustrated and whiff something. Usually doesn’t work.

Karin builds meter better for Gief rather than the other way around. However, whiff Hands->KKK Lariat is good for meter if they’re across the screen(where they should be, if they’re smart).

I’ll post my thoughts here too.

Got to try the game today, here are my thoughts, please call out on whatever you’d like. Actually got to play Sanford and Wong in this today, they walked in like five minutes after I did. Wong seems to like Mukoro (sp?), Rose, and Karin ;p. Sanford hates the game. Haha.

Rose: I see her as being pretty good. She’s got a little bit of everything. Her pokes are good, many reach far (s.mk for example), she can reflect projectiles back, and her alpha counter sets up stuff just like always. I’m just wondering what her CC is. Wong was playing her too, and it was all along the lines of cancelling her slide into something else.

Karin: Not with as many ‘tools’ as Rose, but good enough. Great pokes, counters are still there (actually I didn’t test it), her bnb does good damage (around six hits I believe) and her CC is stupid easy and quite damaging.

Felicia: She feels a bit ‘loose’. She was more refined or ‘pin’ point in DS, even more so in MvC2. Here she felt like she was sliding all over the place every time she left the ground. Her ‘supers’ do great damage though, but her pokes could use more priority.

Urien: Fast, almost as fast as Felicia. Feels sloppy though, which is true for all the 3S characters in my opinion. Has a bit more priority to his pokes overall, but the timing for his charge moves was off, at least to me.

Sakura: Spanked. Can still do s.lpx2, s.lk, s.mk, 623+FP for eight or nine hits, but ‘shoshosho’ does like only 15% now, and most of her pokes have somewhat low priority. s.FH isn’t as good as it is in CvS2 either.

Chun Li: Just like her 3S incarnation, but like Alex, she felt sloppy. Can’t explain it well. Good priority on her pokes, her fireball super does WAY more damage then her kick super, which was nerfed pretty badly.

Ingrid: I love her! Plenty cute, little bit of lock down and zoning, little bit of mind games, little bit of rushdown. Roll and dash too. Definintely a part of my future teams.

Anyways, those are my thoughts thus far. Hauser is a fricking joke. Lariat beats everything. If alls fails, keep the fuck away.

Hoping to try it again before I purchase it next week.

Jedahs in the air are not a problem. It’s Jedahs on the ground that make it hard. He outranges Gief by a mile, and if you choose to just sit there, so will he. He’s not losing anything by staying ON THE GROUND a full screen away. He can put out a wheel, and if you were attempting to try and do damage (i.e. move forward), you just lost. It’s an uphill battle after you lose a tick.

played an absolutely fiendish nool tonight who had a streak of 16+ when i left.

i think hes being neglected despite obvious (to me) potential, he was being played just as i said in my loke test report. total turtle with fb, his near full screen tentacle from the ground normal (i think) his insane c.LK/LP priority (easily beats out rose who’s decent), his plethora of aa’s (normals alone he has at least e, the trident upswing, the close tentacle nornal (c.MK??MP??) and his stomach nodule thingy normal) and his godly s.LP which is more than likely the best ranged and priority standing light poke in the game.

yeah his jump sucks but the point is you dont have to jump, you only need to use his bar for levelling up and grabbing the heal.

to play him well youll also need to figure out his jump straight up long range normals (for hit fb’bers) and his long range standing pokes… do that and youll get lots of wins with him it would seem…

maybe he’s too freaky for most?

I was wondering if Milpitas Golfland is having CFJ anytime soon before December hits? =)

Dude, it’s the tentacle rape porn implications.

This is honestly the only game where I can predict my problem matchups by using the stage 5 CPU as a gauge. Nool regularly rapes my Gief here, and is good at keeping Karin off his nuts…=/

I also see Urien and Alex getting bigger once people understand how fast their jump attacks come out, and figure out how to parry at will, instead of this option select shit.

So your saying that the CPU is actually soe good in this game??? Wonderful…

I think the way you will choose and order your team in this game will be very, very stragetic. Probably even more so then in any other previous game where you could choose your teams order, mainly because of the different guage systems. IF not anything else, this game is shaping to be a different and very interesting tittle. I can’t wait to put this on my F.G. roster!:encore:

Hmm this should do the trick. Gunter, I think this proves you wrong.

oh my god !! zangief >> 3s hugo …

zangief got fine normals …

and what !?! KARA-SPD ??? karin got grabbed ?? explain pls

May I take this time out to say, Fuck you bitches, Gief is FINE.

That’s not a Kara-SPD, that’s how much range he has on a Jab SPD. If you played any Gief worth anything back in the day of SF2, you’d notice how good it is to have this back. I’ve snatched Guy up from somewhere around sweep range with it once. This is just more fuel to the fire.

Jedah would have to be an utter bitch the ENTIRE ROUND in order to outclass Gief.

i think zangief should rarely jump , he owns
that SPD shit looks like kara-throw … omg

yeah i’ll try to play jedah someday …
with alex …eer

i love the smoke coming out of gief’s nose. hilarious

i’m gonna say that at 1:43 … zangief does the air-power-bomb super right …

is so fuckin’ dramatic , the BGM … try listen it

I actually saw mukuro/kenji in action today allbeit in a vid he looks like my cup of tea, what are some other good run away characters? i’m guessing anakris jedah i’m not really sure about the rest i’ve not played it yet. also jedahs only real anti air his ducking middle kick not his ducking hard kick, it’s gotta be from pretty far though again i cant really say how it works in this game

cfj isn’t too bad.

They should make a Konami Fighting Jam with Solid Snake, Alucard, Belmont, Dracula, Contra Hans and Lars, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, Suikoden chars, Silent Hill girl, and Special mini-DDR bonus stages.

It’d be better than Capcom Fighting Jedah. I’d play Raph and Snake.

of course that will never happen. :open_mouth:

played cfj at svgl was fun

what systems is cfj coming out for? and whens the release dates?

edit again : ) - where can i buy a cfj arcade board?

Why did that Urien guy keep doing c.HP, headbutt, fireball super? You get full hits (and more damage) out of c.HP, tackle xx super fireball.

Edit: Also if he had done the shoulder rush super instead of trying c.HP after blocking Leo’s super he would have won. Goes to show you that people are getting away with a lot of things in these videos that they won’t be getting away with soon.
