It does a shit tonne of damage too if you hit with the initial rip-out-of-the-ground animation. Mike used it to great effect on the NorCal stream when under Double pressure: (skip to 1:40:35)
DHCing takes half of Double’s health despite the character ratio being 3:2.

precisely. I was trying to avoid comparing it to Bionic arm since:
- it’s very slow startup
- it’s a slight mixup up close since it hits low with the first hit
- and it’s a projectile
personally I feel the FGC has gotten into a bad habit of comparing any and all hypers with enough armor/ invincibilty to make for excellent punishes Bionic Arm. I myself am trying to ween myself off the habit, because Bionic Arm is really it’s own breed of hyper.
conversely I feel Double’s Bandwagon super is legitimately similar enough to be called a Bionic Arm, it works almost identically, save for its OTG capabilities. so it earns the moniker of Bionic Car.
sorry, mini rant.
but yes, Lvl 3 will NOT stop unless hit by a grab or cinematic hyper I think. otherwise, you are UNSTOPPABLE.
Diamond itself (2800) deals less damage than showstopper (4800) btw =[
to get full damage (5500) you need to punch diamond in opp’s face first.
But absolute armor should help in that regard.
actually wait what? O_o according to Pizza Diamond Dinamo and Showstopper have same overall damage. not sure if true…
I call bullshit on that. Even taking damage scaling into account, its blatantly obvious Showstopper does more damage.
Yeah. I recalling Mike was saying that Diamonds are forever is doing same dmg as Showstopper.
Hmm… Diamonds are forever… 'Tis kinda long. How about Diamond Cannon instead? =]
I always thought Girls Best Friend would have been a better name, but I’m not going to question the lord Mike Z himself. I get the overall feeling that it would be more useful to save the 3 meters for Peacock’s level 3, but it looks like a pretty good super nonetheless.
sounds like “do-or-die” to me. or really opportunistic. If you’re planing to deal damage with 3 meters better go PC’s I guess.
I know Girls Best Friend does a LITTLE more damage than showstopper (I want that name to stick for her Lvl3!) and Diamond dynamo does the least, but is hella easy to combo into.
I like how Cerebella has a genuinely good set of supers. Reminds me of SNK grapplers or Potemkin, since they tend to have supers OTHER than command throws. Unlike SFIV zangief with TWO 720 supers (rolls eyes).
Off topic, but I recently got my hands on my own copy of Guilty Gear, and now that I can really sit down and practice it and get good (and use my stick, not a pad), DAMN IS POTEMKIN GOOD. Like, i always knew he was better than most other grapplers, but now that I can properly sink my teeth in him, I really see why he’s got such a good reputation.
I haven’t gotten the chance to play SG or Cerebella yet, but after working with Pote some, I can appreciate her move set even more than before. She’s got something good goin on.
I get the feeling that a lot of people will complain about Cerebella since generally you either love grapplers or hate them and I hope that they don’t nerf her just through scrubs whining. I doubt it will happen, Reverge seem to do everything Capcom should. It will be a very different experience having a grappler that actually has tools to win and I hope the non-Cerebella community can handle it. (Although I do love me some salty messages sometimes.) I’m glad you liked Girls Best Friend, hopefully it will get somewhat adopted like my Maximum Surgery for Valentine’s level 1.
While I’m certainly agree at Lady’s Best Friends > Diamonds Are Forever - there are still too many letters in it T_T
Lol I only just realised Cerebella acutally says Girls Best Friend during her level 3 (at least in the alpha version). Here I thought i was being creative. Anyways, I’ll try think of something shorter, you could always abbreviate it but that sounds kinda lame.
I doubt they will nerf Cerebella. Mike Z plays grapplers, and the overall design philosophy is “if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it”… In a good way XD. They’ve made SO MANY good decisions so far, I can’t see them tripping up before the finish line in that regard.
As for people bitching: SUCKS FOR THEM. If Cerebella ends up tippy top tier, GOOD. About time a grappler is top tier. It is OBSCENELY rare for grapplers to end up VIABLE, let alone high tier. Usually that spot belongs to “low health but a million fantastic options” characters. And that gets BORING for people like me (and I assume you all since you’re in the Cerebella thread) who like big, heavy, hard hitting grappler types. I’m always stuck with a bottom tier character because of my taste in playstyles, and for once I would like to play to my playstyle AND use a viable, well equipped character at the same time.
Fuck.
Simple. We give it the Air Hyper Viper Beam treatment and call it either DAF or LBF. IMO, my favorite acronym is DR4E (diamonds R 4Ever)
I keep thinking of names like ‘24 Carats of Pain’ or from I’ve seen from pretty much every Cerebella so far ‘Diamonds are for Chip.’ but they’re all too long, it seems easier just to go with your option of abbreviating the original.
Well “Diamond Cannon” is play on Proton Cannon. Because Mike said they are similar and “Proton Diamond” sounds stupid lol =]
Now that you mention it, I can see the resembalance to Proton Cannon, maybe add a “Target Acquired!” beforehand so people get the joke, because I didn’t at first. I find it hard to deliberate what a move shall be nicknamed before the game even comes out, so I guess the community can decide.
Wait, aren’t WE belong to community? O_o
I suppose it has to start somewhere, we have been derived of Skullgirls for so long that we have come to nicknaming moves before release. I’ve been practically launch partying erryday and I’m running out of stuff to do. It’s only a matter of weeks now I suppose though.
I still put my vote into calling it** DR4E**
I’m ok with that.
Yeah I’m fine with that too.
