Cerebella Thread: Other Grapplers Wish They Could Be This Good

Just noticed that Cerebella had an amazing brown alternate color prelaunch. Wish that made it in instead of her atrocious yellow/red alternate.

Have you thought about setting your Bella assist to run? You can’t get a followup as assist, but her raw run absorbs two hits and pushes the opponent backwards.

–Use as meatshield against projectiles to advance your point character
–Use as get off me against characters all up in yo grill
–Use to set up corner situations in pressure anywhere on screen
–Use as alpha counter into grab super

Seems pretty rad from where I’m standing.

i thought the run is only 1 hit of armor?

It’s 1 hit of armor, but because she’s just the assist, you don’t care that the 2nd hit is an actual hit. So she can absorb 2 hits, it’s just that the 2nd one will end the run.

I see, it might be worth looking into. I’ll try to test some stuff out tomorrow.

Do I just suck or am I doing something wrong? I can’t get excellebella to input correctly as a custom assist. I always get throw at best even though I’m entering it the same way I do in match.

The input is weird, you have to enter it as f,d,df and end in df or it wont register. if you end in forward you’ll get diamond drop everytime.

Yeah, the input needs to be perfect. I kind of wish the custom assist input menu had shortcuts :rofl:

Its stupid coz you can mash that shit out mid-match but nooo it has to be super exact in the assist input screen >___>;


So has anyone figured out a decent combo that works on Double?

random tidbit, if you jump/super jump over somebody, you can double jump and immediately do down+MP to have the elbow come out on the correct side for better cross-ups.

the elbow has a good hitbox int he back, you dont even need to do that.

I stated that in the bug thread. But I eventually figured out you have to stop DIRECTLY on Down-Forward position.

no because it requires more then one button input

Something sick I learned in a mirror, that using cr.Lk for tick throw is pretty effective. Two blocked cr.Lk at point blank range puts your opponent just in range for Merry-go-Rilla and using one you can still do Diamond Drop. I think that’s pretty tight

I have a couple of ideas for burst baits that I can’t test alone. The first one is doing a bnb combo that involves j.MP somewhere, then baiting a burst with either c.HP jc j.MP or c.MK jc j.MP, and I imagine that people who burst asap would get stuck right in excellabella range, and those that wait a tiny bit too long would land right into a 360. The second idea is to trigger IPS with c.MK then jump cancel and block in the air, I think that would work, but again I haven’t tested it.

Yeah, I’ve been working on that. My combo looks like

c.lp, c.mp, chp, j.lp(Mash(Although I can’t get this part consistently, so I don’t do it in matches)), c.lp, c.mp, c.hp, j.mp, j.hk, c.lk, c.mp, c. hp, j.mp. At that last j.mp, the infinite sparks should go off. If they are mashing buttons, like grab to tech, then they’ll catch you in the burst. If not, free combo when as they land. When I try it, sometimes people instantly burst, but I think that’s just because they always mash grab to tech if I go for a grab. Also, if they miss the burst “opportunity”, then when they land you can go for a command grab. Since I don’t usually employ the j.lp’s, if you do you almost always be in the corner and have to do Diamond Drop, the last j.mp can swat them just far enough away to do Merry-Go-Rilla.

Also, on a different note, I think that Cerebella’s DP Grab needs a little bit of invincibility. Not a lot, just a bit at the tip of the hand for an instant. Unless I enjoy HUGE risks trying to predict when rush down is going to jump, then I can’t throw it out without it getting stuffed. It seems like every air normal beats it, at any angle.

I never use it on the defensive, I did try during week 1, but it’s too unreliable and guess based. I find it’s good for the 50/50 after blockstrings, or for quite long range anti-air, and as an assist.

Yeah, but for that 50/50, the risk is way too high. You can only combo off it in the corner, and if you miss, it’s a free ANYTHING for your opponent. I use solo bella, so I don’t get it as an assist, but even for at the very longest range it feels like if they are doing anything that involves an attack button, they beat it. I don’t want it to be fully invincible, just, like, her hand so that I can punish people for jump air dash spamming attacks for no reason.

Oh, and does anyone know how to use Pummel Horse? The hit box is funny, and it’s hard to land it.
