Cerberus: Unleash the hellhound in your arcade stick

Does it work on other systems just fine after the update? What comes up on PC? Just making sure you updated with the correct firmware.

Hey Phreak, this is probably a dumb question but when does the Cerberus check if start is being held? I have it installed in a fighting edge and I noticed I couldnā€™t access the bootloader mode while using the touch pad. I assume this is normal. Im just wondering if a workaround is possible.

Pics of your setup? I have been able to configure Remora using start on plug in so it might be in how itā€™s wired.

The bootloader checks start pretty much immediately (weā€™re talking maybe 100ms since the code is light). Depending on when the touchpanel allows for change in state from t=0, thereā€™s a good chance it will always miss.

Thanks for the input guys.

Iā€™ve tested my Atrox 360 modded with cerberus, and it worked with Brook PS3-PS4.
However Brook X360-PS4 didnā€™t work.

Did you force 360 mode when trying to use the converter?

yes

First time modder here.

I managed to install the cerebus into the PS3 TE-S fight stick.

I may have soldered some button wires wrong due to using xbox instructions (couldnā€™t find ps3 ones, not sure if one even exists), but with Xpadder I was able to remap the buttons. With luck, I was able to get it to work on PC. Played SFV for hours with no issues.

The problem is I brought the fightsticks to my buddies house and tried to use it PS4. I donā€™t know button is MP, so I held down each button individually, while plugging in. None worked.

******Turns out my cerebus came with 1.01. I followed all PS360+ instructions to upgrade it to the latest firmware 1.10 and it seemed successful (upgraded using flip, hex v1.10 ā€“ Atmega16U4). However plugging into PC again, it is still recognized as ā€œCerebus v1.01ā€.

Any thoughts?

So I picked up the Advanced version of this board to drop into my PS3 (not 360) Madcatz SE stick so I can use it on my PC. That should work just fine, right? Anything I should be aware of before I dig into this project?

Quick question. I just finished doing a mod on two joystick for a friend. Installed the cerebrus pcb only on both joysticks. Now my friend went home to try it out on the ps4 and using one joystick he says it works good. But when he tries to use both joystick with cerebrus on the ps4 it only recognizes the last one he connects. Any suggestions?? He live far away so it is unlikely I can go personally to try it out right now. Or I should try to search for another friend with a ps4 near by to do my own investigation. Thanks in advance

question, what size are the jst ph ribbon cables? are the 2.54?

@Gummo

Is it possible to get this firmware version?

Yeah, but itā€™s pretty old so it wonā€™t have anything new like the 8min timeout ps4.

No worries; PS4 support isnā€™t a priority for me at the moment.

Is your customer base a bunch of legacy weirdos? All we do nowadays is ps4 lol

Haha, no arguments there. All of my customers have been requesting PS4-mods as well.
Nah, this Cerberus mod is something that Iā€™ve been wanting to do for myself. Two projects, actually. I realized I spend more time on mod projects for myself than for clients.
While having analogs isnā€™t absolutely critical (at least for one of the projects), I figured I might as well try for full functionality.

Legacy is where it at, I been behind on some of my stuff I need to make a PC Engine cable for my stick with a Cthulhu inside
Its my SNES/Legacy stick.

Gummoā€™s the only one with that firmware. I never implemented it myself. If you donā€™t care about PS4 beyond in game legacy support, then you can give his build a whirl.

pm me your email and ill send you the fw.
