Has anyone ever had an issue with the Cerebrus being recognized on PC? I’ve got it installed and it works on 360 and PS3 but when I plug it into my PC the guide button turns solid for a second then turns off.
I never had a issue with the Cerberus on Windows XP, Windows 7, Windows 10, Mac OSX and Linux.
If you having a issue, its most likely your PC maybe a driver issue and not the board.
The board it self is a HID class Plug and Play USB device working with any generic driver.
@Freesway have you actually tested it? IIRC, it doesn’t stay lit up. You just need to check in your devices list to see if there’s a Cerberus among them. I think I recall suggesting that a visual indicator be left on, but of course, that would be up to Phreak if it’s even possible. I usually just connect my Cerberus-powered TTT2 stick to my PC in 360 mode anyway.
It’s not a driver issue if you get not recognized
It’s a chipset issue
As I’ve said a hundred times, you will need:
A usb repeater
A shorter usb cable
Or a new usb expansion card
Hey Vicko I am missing something, how is it a chipset issue with the Cerberus?
Some chipsets don’t like 4066 chips apparently, or long usb cables. The point is you don’t get “device not recognized” for a driver issue, you’d get a different popup.
That’s why I asked if he actually tested it. To my recollection, the Cerberus does not keep the Guide LED’s lit on PC, so until he confirms that he doesn’t see it in the devices list, he may not have a problem at all. All he said is that the LEDs light up for a second and go out.
So if he confirms that his PC doesn’t recognize it, I would certainly agree with Vicko’s suggestions.
Generally speaking if it lights up for a second and then goes out it doesn’t mean much unless you’re forcing 360 mode. In PS3 mode you get a blink because of power… but that’s it.
On PC, this is why I also suggest plugging in with start held down, it forces bootloader mode and gives you some more information (LEDs cycling, etc.).
For example. If you plug in with Start held down and the lights cycle slowly or somewhat erratic, it’s a line noise problem.
If it’s telling you device unrecognized with all forced modes, it could be a huge variety of things but one thing you should absolutely try is to use a powered USB hub, which eliminates your system outright as an issue if it still doesn’t work. Because then it could be as as simple as an IDC crimp issue.
Also, since it works on the systems, I’m 100% guaranteeing that it’s something funky with your ports/system.
Just grab a powered USB hub. I dunno wtf is the deal with it, it could be something as simple as an inrush power draw the new USB handling circuitry that PC motherboards are using… no idea, but a powered USB hub takes that away and makes things much friendlier for systems… not to mention it’s a very cheap fix.
Wish I had read this before I messed around with it. Now when I plug it in to anything it’s just dead. Tried redoing USB wires and wires from 360 PCB to Cerebrus but still not getting anything. Originally i thought it was because the one of the pins was bent but I fixed that and still nothing. Tried plugging the Cerebrus directly to my PC with the USB out and it recognizes it maybe once or twice, then stops until I mess with the cable a bit.
Your usb crimps are bad. Strip back and redo, make sure you don’t leave some sheathing in the cliips
finally got it working on ps3/pc but doesn’t want to recognize on 360. I read earlier in the thread a tried a suggestion. I stripped the usb cable down to the bare wire a bit to make sure it would get a solid connection in the terminals. I think the 360 side isn’t getting punched down far enough to get a connection. Wouldn’t be a big deal to do the same thing with the 360 cables as I did with the USB cord would it?
no
Does anyone know how the RSX, LS/RSY, RS, LSX, and LSY labels on the partial connector version are supposed to be wired?
LS and RS are to be wired to the stick mode switch on the 360 te. It’s to switch to left stick and right stick on ps3. The rsx, rsy, lsx, lsy is to wire up to analog sticks, but requires a different firmware.
Not sure if this is old news, but I just wanted to share that I just finished installing a Cerberus on one of the recent MadCatz TE-S+ sticks.
This one:

Not one of the Tekken ones from a year or so ago.
And it works like a charm. Fat Mk1 PS3, Star Wars Mk2 XBox 360, and 32-Bit Win 7 PC all happy campers!!!
Thanks @Phreakazoid !!!
im having a little trouble updating the cerberus board . downloaded the flip 3.4.7 on windows 10. plugged in the stick. stick is recognized but when i go into control panel , device manager and try to update the cerberus i get a message saying " windows was unable to install your cerberus bootloader" not sure what im doing wrong . im following everything on the link provided on your website and i get stuck here any suggestions
Any luck on this? I don’t have win10 but I don’t think that should be a problem. Does it complain if you point the driver installation to the Atmel FLIP directory as intended?
The atmel flip. Program. Loads but can not find the directory
ok finally go it to up date the firmware but when i plug the stick into my ps4(im holind 2p while plugging in) the xbox guide light up and start blinking try when i push a button nothing happens . not sure what to do from this point
