Do all the other directions and buttons work correctly on the other systems and PS3? In other words, is the only thing not working DOWN and only on PC/360? Lights, RS/DP/LS, lockswitch all work correctly?
Itās all just practice, and a lot of it. hah.
The regular install is easy peasy, even for those whoāve never opened up their arcade stick.
need some more boards so bad! have so many ideas that I want to mess with now that I know the awesomeness of the āadvancedā installā¦ so smallā¦ so easy to work withā¦
Restock shipment to FA will be going out today, Iāll have more built next week and up in my own webstore, or if youāre going to UFGT you can pick some up from me there.
Yeah, but I LOVE the Stealth look, hehe!!! Iād still give props for the source of the dual mod though. Iāll be amongst those hoping to pick up one of those boards from FA!!!
Iāve scanned through most of this thread, but am still not 100% sure if this will be as easy to install for me as I think.
I want it for my SFxT VS stick.
Currently I have the remora LED board with arcye3s installed. To get the power to the remora, I soldered the power to the back of the stock PCB (5v). Since the cerberus is going to have to have to go on top, that connection wonāt be made (obviously). I canāt tell, but is there enough room in the usb section for me to sneak both red cables in? If not, I fear I might not be skilled enough to solder that small red wire
Outside of that one power wire, is there anything else that can cause issues? Meaning, will my LEDās still work?
Looking at dual mod options for my 360 hori scv and came across this beauty and had questions.
Iām assuming since its not a madcatz pcb Iām gonna need to solder to the pcb correct?
Is there any benefit to me getting the full version as opposed to the partial-connector version?
The hori SCV has additional options (switching start button to be back or vice versa, lbs/rbs buttons, etc.). Will I retain these functions? would they carry over to the PS3?
I saw that it has a āforced passthroughā. Does it also auto detect when I plug into ps3 vs 360?
Iām also going to install a remora+arceye3s when doing the dual mod. Any issue(s) with this?
Thank you

- Yes
- No because you need to solder to it so the actual connectors on the board arenāt going to do you anything.
- a- you will retain all functionality on the 360 side of things. b- Iām sure itās possible, I canāt remember what the scv stick does to make it happen so I canāt tell you specifics
- Yes, it does auto detect. But if for whatever reason you want to force it into 360 mode (say you want to play a game that auto configures 360 controllers on Windows like SFIV), you can.
- No, if you know how to install all of this you should be fine.
I recently installed a Cerberus into my TE-S and it wonāt work on either my PC or 360. I updated the firmware successfully and the controller config shows all buttons and all 4 directions on the stick working. For some reason if I hold down MP (Y), it says āUSB device has malfunctionedā, but any other button will load it as Cerberus v1.01. I have not gotten it to load as a Madcatz TE yet.
Not really sure what I can do now.
Edit: Apparently I had swapped the LP and MP colored wires around (I was going by a text document to match the colors and I guess I didnāt update it), cut back more wire on the 360 side of the USB cable and now itās working fine.
Glad you got it working, I just responded to your email hah.
So I heard the fix to the issue of the Xbox joystick is aligning the boards Iāve done it a few times and it seems like every time I realign it the direction that no longer works is different. Any suggestions?
If I were to buy a TEK case and a Cerberus, would it be possible to gut my existing MLG TE, take all the internals, put them in the TEK case and install a Cerberus in that? Not very practical, I know, but would it be possible?
It would be possible. But I donāt see why you gut a TE like that.
The boards are not pushed all the way together, you can remove both board and put them together outside of the stick to verify this, take them apart and put them back into the stick again.
Iām guessing that itās just angled one way or another and not completely together, you may have to bend one of the 360 PCB JLF header pins.
The Phreakmods Cerberus ps3/pc joystick pcb arrived today. Turns out it does not match the pcb in my stick. My stick is an Eightarc iso 360 onyx.
I want the stick to work on the ps3. I donāt care if it doesnāt work on the 360.
How can I use the stick on the ps3? Can I:
- Buy a ps3 pcb from a store like madcatz?
- Buy a 360 pcb similar to the cerberus pcb and dual mod the stick?
- Use the cerberus pcb by itself to make the stick work on the ps3?
Pics of both pcbs below. Eightarc is the first one. Cerberus is the second one. Thanks.
This is how the pcbs are supposed to look like if they match.
1.)Fightpad from Madcatz will work, the SFxT S.D. version comes in wired for PS3. Requires Soldering.
2.)Not āsimilarā, but you could buy a 360 Fightpad too and solder it up.
3.)Yes, this will work. In your case you will need to solder the board though.
Reading between the lines a bit, I think youāre looking for a solution to just plug a few cables into your stick and make it work. The Cerberus is made to pair with the newer Madcatz 360 TEs that way. Not any other sticks, not any hori sticks, not any Qanba/Eightarc sticks. This does not mean the pcb will not work in any other stick. It does, perfectly fine as long as the stick is common ground. In your case the pcbs need to be connected via soldering. Thereās no way around it.
Hey Phreakazoid, are you going to attend EVO this year and sell some cerberus personally there? I live in Brazil so itās kinda hard to deal with the shipping here, so if I can buy from you directly it would be great
So iāll be receiving a MCZ SCV stick any day now, and Iāve been toying with the idea of using the 3rd face to do a āstealthā dual mod to it, given that the case is translucent and Iād rather not remove that one screw from the JLF (what can I say? I can be a little heavy handed on the stick, lol).
Looking at the soldering pad areaās schematic, am I understanding correctly that only the D+ and D- lines from the USB in on the stickās PCB are needed?
you still need the ground and voltage. How else are the pcbs going to get ground and vcc?
And thatās where my confusion lies. I saw the 4 pads for USB in, but only the afore-mentioned 2 lines for the USB to 360 connection. OK, thanks. Iāll review the diagram again. Perhaps I missed those two lines, or maybe I have to jump them directly from the USB in?
