Cerberus: Unleash the hellhound in your arcade stick

The reason is because the 360 requires a security chip, and it’s not exactly the easiest thing for people to get their hands on. Whereas after market ps3 pcbs are (relatively, of course) much easier to make, because they have no security like that.

any word on if this will work in the new tekken T.E. S+ sticks coming out?

Yep, I’ll have one on me this Thursday. Actually I had one on me last Thursday also just in case anyone was interested, hah.

And yeah that’s my tub o’ pad parts. You know I set it down to swap hands for holding several TE’s at once and forgot to grab it again, thanks for snagging those for me!

No idea, but I don’t really have a doubt on it. I’ll try and get one of the S+ sticks to test out on as soon as I can for sure.

So does the Cerberus have support for analog sticks or is Gummo using some sort of trick? Just curious, I don’t remember reading about analog support.

The PC/PS3 code is currently SOCD compliant in regard to hitboxes.

No, unfortunately I will not be putting the source code out there publicly for the user to modify. I can create custom builds of course, but currently the only person with access to the code is gummo.

And yep, you should have a KGND spot, so your stick isn’t the S version it would seem.

Gummo’s build currently handles analog sticks :). Some other fun stuffs are planned also, just haven’t been put in place.

So it seems that the “FIRST” for modding a beta v.1 Razer goes to Gummo and the Cerebus.

Got a problem with all my Cerberus boards:

They are not recognised on my PC’s when dual modded (comes up with USB not recognised). They auto-detect fine on console.

When connected to my PC’s on their own, the Cerberus boards work. My computers are using Win7 64bit. Any other information and I can provide it.

Any chance of a fix for this? It’s important for my customers to be able to update the firmware if / when it is updated.

Hmm, only when dual modded? Checked on different ports? Maybe the dual mod is asking too much of the port and it’s giving you an issue.

Two things to check

  1. Hold START when plugging in, see if the LEDs cycle and see if it goes through the driver install process, to update this board you use FLIP so if you can get flip to open comms to the board it’s OK and will always flash.
  2. Can you check a secondary PC that doesn’t have Win7?
  3. I’ll add in a force PC/PS3 mode option that may fix that for you, but if the bootloader comes up and it auto-detects on the systems it sounds fine and will be a simple fix on my end for this forced mode.

You know, looking at the recent pictures, you should probably make the PCB black, use black wires, and rename it to Symbiote, as that’s what it’s looking like. It’s a parasitic pcb adding abilities to a regular board!

Yep, only when dual modded. I was freaking out because I though my wiring was bad somewhere or something else going wrong but they work fine on the consoles.

  1. The only stick I have access to at the moment doesn’t have the LED’s hooked up so can’t check the cycle. Holding ‘start’ still comes up with the USB error message.

  2. Sadly I only have access to Win7 machines at the moment.

  3. Do you have a link to your firmware files yet? I can’t seem to find any on your site or in the OP here. FLIP cannot open the USB comms, just comes up with an error message :frowning:

Just installed my second cerberus… holy cow, easiest dual mod ever. Thanks Phreak

No firmware files are up yet… wait I lie there is one in here right now:

It’s a beta, fixes the cold boot PS3 problem. S+S=H works on PS3, is busted on 360 right now so don’t use it.

Sounds like it’s just complaining about Win7, perhaps it’s trying to swap over to 360 side by auto-detection (PaperTigre I think had this issue). For giggles, can you confirm that if you force 360 mode with LP it comes up with an error?

Odd that it gives you an error when forcing bootloader mode considering it works on it’s own without the dual mod but perhaps the DFU hates Win7. I’ll have to look into that, but if you can try on a different machine at some point that would be fantastic.

Oh, one thing you can try is have the board by itself and short START to GROUND and plug the cerberus into the PC, see if that also works if the board is by itself.

No problem sir, glad you like it

I’ve just tried it on a Win XP machine and it seems to be working fine. Can force both console modes and enter update mode. The spinning player LED lights look pretty…

Still the same problem with all the Win7 machines I’ve tried so far. Just does not like it when dual modded, the boards on their own work fine. When trying to force 360 mode it comes up with the same error message.

If a fix for this could be released I’m sure it would be appreciated by more than just me. And a working S+S=G in 360 mode as well!

That’s a really strange issue that it’s only affected by the dual mod considering forcing update mode (or hell, even the autodetection) should pretty much keep it identical to what it would be without the dual mod as far as PC/PS3 mode goes, it only ever touches the USB lines when it sees a 360 (or a PC that presents itself that way). Can you try it with a hub to see if it changes this at all?

I don’t have a Win7 machine to test against, so unless people can do some digging for me on this I don’t have a lot to go on. I’m pretty positive other customers have used this on Win7 without problems (I believe TriXWoN being one of them). Would love it if they could chime in here to confirm/deny that though.

I have TTT2 TE S+ already.
Cerberus is compatible.
The PCB not changed.

I can confirm that my board works on windows 7 just fine. I forced all the consoles as well just to make sure.

I remember it being a pain in the butt to find a friend with a PC to fix my TEasy at one point. Is it relatively easy to make the Cerberus update cross-platform for mac as well?

I believe the bootloader is compatible with Mac, it’s just command line based instead of using FLIP. I’m basing that off of the PS360+ since it also uses FLIP, which means it’s got the same type of bootloader, their update how-to covers Mac so I’d assume you can follow that same procedure for Cerberus.

I’ll try that when getting home tonight.

Any luck with the 360 S+S=G firmware update yet? I remember you saying a while back that you were trying something fancy with it but I’d be happy with a basic one!

Yeah sorry about that, haven’t put much time into it and I apologize. I’m putting more boards together tonight and will try to get a basic firmware for you tomorrow at the latest. Will add PS3/PC forced too, that’s like 2 lines of code I just keep forgetting to do it. I’ll likely have that forced be LK.
