Whoa, legit ST cabinets…might have to attend
Samurai Showdown 2!! That’s whats up.
Thank you DjDelly.
OMFG we are throwing down in the F*ing ghetto bro! >.< Ill make sure to bring my kevlar vest. I am going to make it a point to come down to this. I am pumped for SSF4 and HDR.
Just a couple Updates for everyone:
The Stream is shaping up rather nicely. Still deciding on Whether to use Ustream or Justin Tv and such but I DEFINITELY PLAN
On setting a schedule so that everyone that goes on the stream can see times for things like Super Finals, Team Exhibition and Team Finals on Sunday and doing my best to stick to it.
I also have decided to add a BEAT THE PRO Exhibition on Sunday at about 7:00 pm. I’m doing this not to stroke my own ego, but to attract more people that don’t come out as much to tournaments.
So The rules will be. If you can beat me 2/3 You will get 100 bucks cash from me. Of course each person only gets one chance to do so and If you’ve ever placed top 10 in any Florida Tournament or Outside MAJOR then you can’t enter(Valle did this same thing and rules at a CALI tournament.)This will also be streamed. So I hope this idea doesn’t offend anyone. Saturday is really the tough day for everyone then Sunday will be all about Teams and having fun with a TON of casuals.
As for Saturday night, I want your opinion.
Shall we do cut to top 8 Then put the top 8 on stream starting at 10 pm and Start the Team Exhibition at 8 pm. Since I’m starting singles at 2 pm SHARP I think with the about 15 setups it looks like I’m getting we can easily get a 100 man tournament down to 8 within 6 hours then give people a Food break that aren’t in the Team Exhibition(I’m keeping it at 6 Teams NO MORE). These 6 Teams will be filled with 5 on each.
Orlando, Tampa, Miami, Ft Lauderdale, Jacksonville and a Wildcard team of 5 players from out of state.
Or Should I do the Top 8 Finals first at 8 before the Team Exhibition?
Maverick as of now the machines are just for free play and such. If DJ Delly can get Cvs2 in time we’ll do something on there as well as Sunday we can do mini tournaments if there is any interest.
Also I’ve decided to change up the Spectator Fee.
All Women and children that aren’t entering tournaments are FREE. Spectator for guys is 10 Bucks for the weekend which gets you free play with casuals and the cabinets but you can’t enter any tournaments unless you pay the 20 dollar fee.
I’ll run side tourneys, MM and or casualy play on the cabs and neo geo… I just need people to sign up. :).
I think this is a great idea. This might even determine whether or not some players can make it, if they can bring their girlfriend, lady friend, kid(s), etc. w/o them having to pay.
lol @ beat the pro! not hating at all either.
how many people will you let enter against you?
it’s hard to say if singles finals should go before teams or not. tbh, won’t it be hard to tell until the complete schedule has been written and times accounted for?
for example…say you are having Super singles, Super teams, T6, MvC2, and regional teams on Saturday. It would be best to calculate how long you estimate the games to run and then make the stream schedule. Certainly is you plan on having finals from all the games making it to the stream.
After just talking to Gootecks getting a great idea from him from one of his Beat the Pro Events I’m gonna change it up a little bit.
A Good friend of mine is Donating a PSP-3000 to me for the event.
What I can do is Sell Raffle Tickets One for 2 bucks or 3 for 5 bucks. Then on Sunday Choose 10 people one by one through the raffle and then they get a chance to play me. The first person to beat me 2/3 WINS the PSP 3000 Which is worth about 180.00. If noone after the 10 beats me, I will put back all the raffle tickets into a hat And choose ONE Winner to receive that PSP 3000.
I know I’m gonna get a lot of crap for this Beat the pro thing(I offered a certain Top Pro to do it, but he wants to just see me lose and embarass myself) but I want to appeal to a mainstream crowd on such short notice in Orlando.
What do you guys think of the Raffle Idea. If I do the raffle, I won’t disallow anyone even if they’re a top finisher buy tickets to enter. If I do the 100 bucks cash then it’ll only be 10 people that sign up that have never finished top 8.
Cool, $10 to play casuals and cabinets? There’s literally no reason not to go to this, then.
Just do a simple raffle this beat the pro stuff screams douchebagery.
Checked the Pre-reg page and only 6 people for TvC so far?
The game needs a bit more love. Hopefully the game will still go through.
Dude please!! After seeing what south florida has to offer (Titans of Tampa 2 had 6 people lol) which is nothing, I am now sure that TvC:UAS is dead in Fl. I will continue to travel and support the game but know that those you see playing the game are really all we have in the game. If 20 people do not enter I will not play inthe Tourney.
I will still bring all the setups and support the game but damn man if it does not suck to see 6 people when SSF4 has 52 the day before. What happened to the days of people playing, like I do not know 3 fighters?? There will be mad casuals on saturady to hopefully get the numbers up on sunday. I see it going like the datyona tourney did, probly like 14-18 entrants and only like 3(myself not included) of them actually knowing 40% or better about the system and mechanics of TvC.
It will not be hype but I will try. What can TvC do now that SSf4 has run wild on everything???
The reason why Nobody Plays TvC is cause Capcom put it on the Wii. And no Fighting game Lovers would buy a wii just for TvC. That is what doomed the game on a competitive level. If you don’t plan on coming and helping CEO with TvC on Sunday please let me know ASAP so I can figure out a backup plan to run the tournament for the people that still want to come out and play.
Street Fighter has always run wild on everything because quite simply, it is THE game to play. Things that hinder TvC and it’s play is the fact that it’s on the Wii, and not many people have it and aren’t willing to buy a wii just for the game. The scene of TvC in Florida maybe rather lackluster, I agree, but granted that’s due to the fact that the scene hasn’t necessarily been established yet. No one is gonna want to ride out to a certain tournament when they don’t know how many players for said game will be there.
3+ people knowing the system and mechanics is enough for at least making an attempt at teaching other players how to level up in the game. SirHonor (Erick Aleman), Hyo (Joshua Aleman), and I continue to play with eachother to learn more and we’d be glad to help others with the game since we’re good competitively, and that can help with people slowly but surely entering the TvC community. All I know is that Florida has to stay in shape to fend off other states in our territory, and if those who wanted to come to Gamme for a certain game and it happened to be TvC, then we gotta show up to make sure Florida isn’t free by any means.
Glad you’re stepping up with the setups though, Erick will also be bringing one.
Like my buddy Diend stated, I will be bringing a Wii and a copy of TvC. I will not be able to bring a TV though, sorry. I can also bring my TvC MadCatz stick if needed. I will try and gather some people who actually know the game like I do so we can get a minimum of 16 people.
Dude you drove to tampa right??? Well add 2 hours to that drive and take away 44 of the players. You would not be wet?? I mean shit no one from tampa came out. I mean it was all people from at the least 1 and 1/2 hours away. I want to get like… Better on a real level. I want to have to play the game all day before the tourney to be able to get top 3. I pawn off my wii like 3 weeks before every tourny I go to right now, and am never even kinda scared that I will lose. I would like that to change.
Like I said I will be there and try my ass off to hype the game on saturday, but if the numbers are not there I will let the “scene” play it out. I will be there and run brackets but, the extra money I was going to put up I am over that now. I am just venting is all. The system does not matter at all, look at the DC and Marvel, 4 ports and still people play it on DC, so do not give me that system talk. <------- Again I am just wet over this weekend no hate.
Florida is free by all means. Do not get it twisted man, if those 3 people do not have many fighting games under their belt then your 3 people will not make a real force to be recking with. It is no hate but you will be missing many things that others are going to have already seen because they just have more people to show it to them. Yahll are behind by alot, only because there is no reason to get better because people are not comming in with new shit. The game is young but hell it is at EVO a 6 man tourney is not the way to show we are going to beat NC or VA or PHILLY or the Mid West or Cali.
Again just venting, I never wanna travel 3+ hours to play the same 5 people doing the same shit they did 3 months ago. Just me.
you think that’s bad? preregs for mb and gg have less than 6 ppl combined
I feel your pain man I really do. For some people it’s just tough to swallow that games they personally love aren’t well accepted by the mass majority of people.
I mean if you’re really looking for great competition then why aren’t you at least taking a stab at playing Super SF4. If you’re not willing to play that game because you don’t like it, then you can understand why nobody plays TvC if they don’t like it.
We can understand why EVO added it cause well It just came out, but we’ll see how the turnout really is at EVO. As for Melty Blood, I never even heard of it until EVO had announced it was at their tournament and I was like you got to be kidding me.
Like I said, it was released on Wii which right away made it dead on arrival cause noone wants to invest in the Wii just for a few measly games.
As for CEO, I will say this, I’m keeping those tournaments like GG, MB listed and supporting them so low or high numbers they will be there.
I’m always the asshole that doesn’t want to include Marvel and smaller games cause I just know the turnouts will be low. But for CEO it’s my gift to all the stragglers that have always been asking me to support their beloved games. I’d rather let them learn the hard way about the lack of interest in a game cause they won’t listen to me when I just tell it like it is.
Hey see you in June :).
even then if the pre-regs are gonna be high for any non-SSFIV games, some eventually bail out of competing in that tourney at the last minute, thus lowering attendance for those respective games
i’m gonna say at most there’s gonna be 40+ for brawl/melee (separately). 40-50+ for SSFIV. as for the other games, i’m estimating 20 at max.
those are my guesses mind u.
3 Weeks to go Smash and Super Numbers are going to increase. And with the 1200 flyers my friends And I will have in circulation will attract some none Srkers or Smash people. You’d be surprised how many people randomly show up at tournaments that you’ve never seen or met before.
