Central Indiana Gaming

Damn, I wish I knew you guys when I was at purdue. I am in Indy now, if anyone wants to play pm me. I hope to be on xbox live soon. I am not that great, but the only way to improve is by playing I guess.

Moeller: What side of town are you own? I’ll be moving to the broadripple area next week.

Everyone…and I mean EVERYONE (glares slowly at Tim) just needs to get their asses to Fort Wayne to our next gaming party (which our gracious host WKDCLWN will announce soon I’m sure) and you’ll have time to play lots of Indiana players in all the console and many of the arcade games you want. Dude has it all.

Until then check out the tournament at IU in Bloomington on Saturday, October 22nd. There will be out of state players too so it should be a good one.

Tim- Hey man we’ll even perform another Book(burning) Of Mormon for you if that floats your boat!

Wassup Indiana.

Yeah Vega is right, we always have a good time at our parties. Trust me you won’t believe it till you see it, no one does. Ask Ohio.

We are having another party on the Nov. 5th and so long as you guys dig SF then you will have a good time. We play everything(and most everything is on arcade cabinets also) and there will be someone good at the game you want to play.

Just so you all know though, it is $1 to get in the door. Only reason I even charge $1 is to keep my girlfriend content. But that dollar gets you unlimited gaming(usually till 4 or 5am), all the drinks you want while it lasts, and entry into our ??? tourney, complete with prizes for 1-3.

I realize that it is a long drive, so no way will I be offended if you guys decline. We do have some regulars that drive a long way to come(Indy, Michigan) though.

Party starts round 7-8pm, so feel free to show up. Just make sure we play before 2am or so, cause by that time I go from good competition to the tackling dummy:wasted:

Hopefully I will see some of you in Bloomington.

Peace:karate:

How many people usually show up for your parties?

Also, my friend and I will probably show up for the tourney at IU since he showed great interest in it, even if it’d be to watch. Plus he’s driving, so it’s his gas. If anyone else here in w.lafayette wants to go, maybe i’ll see if he’d be willing to carpool over more people, just send me a pm about it.

Abe: I must know if certain “substances” are going to be at your tourney. Please PM me with the info because that will determine if I’m going to come or not. It’s nothing personal but I don’t want to lose my job that I have worked so hard for.

Awesome, I’m sure you’ll have a great time, trust me. If you guys need help getting here, or a place to crash PM me and I’m sure we can work something out.

Fighting maddness at Purdue

I’m wanting to get more into the fighting game scene. The more I play and see, the more I want to try to play against human players.

As a result, I am thinking about setting up a get together for fighting games and maybe other competition-type games as well outside of PUGG (Purdue University Gamer’s Group). There will be no tournaments or anything unless it’s between a small group of people or whatever (but hey, plans can change), but just some event that we can meet and exchange tips, have fun and whatever have you.

As for a particular time and place, that has yet to be determined. If it’s just a small group of 3 or 4 people, then I can just host it in my room. But if this happens to be something bigger, then I will have to move it someplace else. Here are some other ideas for places:

-Classrooms: I am not sure how possible it is to get classrooms, but we will have to see about that. We have the use of projectors and several separate rooms to take advantage of.

-Dorms: There are two dorms that this could take place in, McCutcheon or Meredith. McCutcheon has a nice lounge with a big TV and we can possibly bring in more TVs if necessary. It’s closed off so if we get too loud or whatever, then we can just close the doors but leave them open for those that want to join in on the fun. The problem with that is that I need someone who lives there to get the key from the main office. There is also Meredith, but the room is smaller and we would have to be quiet since they can apparently hear us on other floors (those of you who attend DDR nights would understand).

-Other places: If anyone else is willing to let us use their place, then that would be wonderful.

So far, there shouldn’t be a charge or anything, but that should be discussed later. There might be a small fee for beverages or whatnot though (if there is alcohol, then we well have to play off campus). For those of you who don’t live in the West Lafayette area and still want to come, then feel free to do so. As they always say, the more the merrier.

Note: I have never set up anything like this before, so you’d have to bear with me if this thing gets off the ground. I will start planning this thing once there is an expressed interest, nonetheless. As always, any suggestions would be appreciated.

I would totally support this. I was actually thinking about this myself for the past couple weeks. It seems UIUC has a somewhat of the same setup with a group called the “Society for Competitive Fighting Games” which is seperate from “their” PUGG-like group. PUGG to me seems way too computer game oriented so it would be cool to get a seperate group… without the fees of course. This group will obviously start small, but it will get bigger over time… hopefully. But even with a small group of people, it’ll still be good. If you need any help getting this off the ground, I’ll be willing to help and you already know my SN, so just msg me or something. And of course, I will attend.

Yes yes yes - there is a decent amount of players here at Purdue but we just need to get the word out and get organized. The TV lounge here at Tarkington is decently sized, has a big TV, and nobody gives a shit about noise or rowdiness. I certainly wouldn’t mind reserving it in advance for meetings.

I’m definitely gonna try and spread the word to the guys I see at the arcade.

I’m thinking about doing this around the weekend before Thanksgiving. It should give people enough time to plan things out or whatever. I want to have it on Sunday evening or something since I got DDR on Saturday, but I am willing to change just in case there is an overwhelming decision against that.

Let your friends know about this and let me know roughly how big the interest will be. I don’t want to crowd Tarkington with one TV for 50 people.

Don’t forget about WKDCLWN’s party coming up on Saturday, Nov. 5th in Fort Wayne. That would be a great chance for you to get out and play people with a variety of different skill levels in a non-tournament atmosphere.

If you’re interested, just ask for information or something, like an address.

Chris - 50 guys? This ain’t the West Coast! I’d consider it a modest success if we can get 5+ guys meeting regularly. You need not worry about overcrowding, we need to find guys who will actually show up first. I don’t see a lot of regulars at the Union - there was a number of guys showing up at the beginning of the school year but they’ve all but disappeared. We can definitely start out small, later we can start taping flyers all over campus.

Fort Wayne crew - If someone here is willing to provide the wheels, I’m game. But we aren’t very organized right now and hardly know one another, on top of the usual stuff like people being busy, etc. But I will definitely see if anybody is interested in making the trip.

Yes, and perhaps someday (just a thought) we can come invade one of these gaming gatherings with y’all at Purdue. That’ll take a lot of organizing on our end as well.

fine, fine. Just warn me before you crush my dreams:sad: .

I know that it would be hard to get that many although there is still that small possibility of it happening. I do understand the gap between intrest and those that actually do go as I am part of the Kendo club here and the same thing is going on with the DDR club.

We’ll see how things go. I should be able to do a little planning during the weekend, but for now, I’m swamped with work.

Yeah I figured that was the case, that’s why I said we can do it after we’ve set up, and decide to go “official.” We’ll have to rely on word of mouth, since hardly anyone has an SRK account it seems.

If you guys make this on a Saturday then I am good to go. YOu’re only 50 minutes away from me. What type of games would we be playing?

Just random input… you can’t tape flyers all over campus unless the group you’re advertising is an established Purdue organization (ie /w president, etc.) otherwise you’ll get fined and other bad stuff that happens (or just warned). Yea…

Sounds like someone found out the hard way…

Yeah, I’m just going to rely on word of mouth for this.

Not to interrupt the talks of your club, but someone started a thread for Evansville, IN. Incredible. Where are all these Indy gamers coming from? Let’s make this guy and any possible crew of his feel welcome. Hopefully we can unite all of Indiana in the year 2006. :karate:
