please atleast experiment with other chars when you come to the gatherings so we can get a good idea of the matches.

I just picked up Balrog to have a better understanding of him, like I knew that if I didn’t know anything about balrog there would be no chance of me ever having competition against the other balrog’s out there (i.e…Ray, Gavin, Sean). But I was actually learning to pick up to other characters to sub, and most likely switching my main since Chris, Gavin, and Especially Pat have him down. I am actually (once I get my stick) going to have a one-on-one talk with chun-li and try to learn her. Since you are using Gen and Pat is learning to pick him up too, I don’t want a same occurrence of the whole Rog issue.
So the top 3 people I am going to figure out and pick my main from are
- Chun-Li
- El Fuerte (Since a lot of us don’t want to use him xP)
- Fei Long
Yeah I know these people are low (besides chun) and especially El Fuerte, but if a person like your brother can kick our ass with a low tier, that just refutes why even low tier characters can beat up on top tier’s just by skill alone.
But anyways, once I get my stick I will be practicing a lot. This 360 pad works but things like rog’s j.Hk, lp, lp, lk xx headbutt, the headbutt is what I have a problem with on the 360 controller but never on a stick.

oh i used ken in the mini tourney we had tonight/morning…so yea…i think i am gonna put ken in my line up…the blood brothers Ken and Ryu…i can’t get away from usin them cause they play so differently…but anyways i have to agree with Ian…we need to start moving around on the characters list…i think i’m gonna pick up on rose and see how that goes…i will move around the chara list and see who i can pull out…GL everyone and see everyone next week on my next days of…
i was brain storming at work and thought a fair way to do this is pull from a hat. put all the chars in a hat and make ya’ll draw from said hat. that was there is no crying of unfair treatment.
but why would we do this?
my idea right now is this.
with your drawn character you will accomplish a set of goals.
- finish the trials for that char.
- show us some combo you’ve created minding the bar limitations (4 ex bars and one ultra…unless you can fix it to have two without cheating)
- do your research because someone will ask you a tough ass question.
- have a recorded match of you using a combo from the hard trials (any of your chars hard trials)
- tell us some weaknesses that your char has that we may not know about. as well as what your char can do to punish a blocked c.hk.
just some ideas…
perhaps each one could be like points towards ranbats or something.

Isan that wouldn’t be such a bad idea but people like me and Chris don’t have that kinda time. Hell you know our line of work. Time doesn’t allow us to get much sf in. Which is why I won’t pick up another character. I still feel my balrog is mediocure. I want him to be a threat. And getting good with multi characters may not be such a good idea. When you learn someone new there’s a whole new level of game play you have to adjust too. For example today I was using ryu at Chris house. Now ryu was my main for a while untill i met balrog. Balrog is a sit and wait kinda character. I got so use to playing like that I wad sitting ther with ryu. Hell I wasn’t even spamming fireballs. Cause that’s nor what I’m use to. That’s awhile new learning curve you gotta pick up and I can’t speak fir anyone else but I would just like to learn something about a guy I know so that way I’m having fun while I learn and it doesn’t feel like home work. Besides I think everyone has a second person to go too by now. You just don’t see it.
Congrats goes out to ray again for tonight’s mini tourney. I thought my honda was getting a lil better, but not really lol. I agree with Ian on diversity, however, I’m not changing chars, like I said, I’m tried and true on Honda. Once I get the Fat Princess (FP) moving, he’s going to be a power house. Once I get honda good enough to be CenTex’s best honda player, then I’ll search for a second. Anyone who has played with me long enough knows that I will pick Honda even if I’m going into a waaaay bad match up.
Texas Showdown 05, I picked Honda against Justin Wong using O. Sagat knowing I was going to get my ass beat, but guess what? I actually held it down pretty good. So in short I’m sticking to FP until I can become the Honda Army’s leading General for the CenTex area.

Well… let me put it like this. I am sorry if my words in the car or at the house hurt anybody. I said things like “I can beat everyone in the house without losing” (This is after Gavin was gone), when Sean said “My Balrog can fuck with your Ryu” I said, “No it can’t.” I am not going to sugarcoat anybody, it will only make us worse as a community. Think of me as the guy that will tell you the truth, only ask me if you are prepared to hear/read everything. If you go around telling people they are good to make them feel good about themselves then you are not helping them at all, you are only hurting them. Don’t let somebody walking around thinking that they are doing the right shit during games, but they don’t, and as a result they lose at a tourney. Sometimes you have to crush feelings in order to make someone realize or progress, and that does not only pertain to Street Fighter, but real life itself. Let me hand you guys a familiar situation. Let say you are dating this girl (Or met a new friend) and somewhere down the line you finally realize that she/friend is only with you because you buy them a lot of stuff or have a lot of money. You cut them off from that money and they break up with you/stop being your friend. That shit hurts because you really liked that person/thought they had your back. From that moment forth you will make sure that shit doesn’t happen again. If that didn’t happen then you would have never learned and really thought they liked you/was your friend. Now, to address the rest of your post… Yeah if it works AGAINST THAT PERSON [COLOR=Silver]then keep doing, but make sure you mix it up. For stuff that people keep punishing, then stop doing that, or you will find yourself at a guaranteed loss[/COLOR].
You are correct on this to a certain extent. I can beat DAIGO, but the possibility in me doing so is very, very slim. It is possible for anybody to beat anybody. Let me put this in a way that everybody can understand. The higher your skill, the more of a chance you can beat your opponent, because there is no guaranteed wins. I wasn’t going to get in depth with but let me go ahead. If I beat Daigo, and Daigo beats Justin Wong, that does not in turn mean that I can beat Justin Wong. I think that is self explanatory.
We do need diversity, that is why I can play with Ryu, Bison, Rufus. And I know the basics with at least half of the cast. If I run into a Zangief, I will most likely win because that is my best match up. Just because we don’t get the practice at Chris’s house does not mean we can’t get it elsewhere. I’m sure everybody else has at least started messing with other characters.

Pat I’m really sick of your pigheadedness. Like seriously, you think you are the hottest shit EVAR. However you aren’t, and you like to pout when you don’t win. You are a sore loser, plain and simple, you think you are the best out there. Sure that’s great and everything, but that also explains why Ray ended up higher than you on the tourney results at UFO. You should really think over your comments before you type them into this forum cause everytime I see you when you’re getting beat by someone it’s always something else’s fault. Maybe you should heed some advice and learn how to be a much more calm and tact person, cause no one wants to hear you talk about how good you think your Ryu is, and how everyone else sucks.
Everyone here is trying to keep moral up, and keep everyone playing but you Pat. You’re just here to feed your own damn ego. I’ll admit you are better than I am, and you are better than most of us at the 254, but in the same token no one wants to play with you cause 1) you talk about how GDLK you are, and 2) when you do lose you go sit in the corner to sulk and ruin everyone else’s time. So maybe you should try to learn how to chill out and check this out; to HAVE A GOOD FUCKING TIME PLAYING.

Ian I know how you like to let things go, and that’s a good thing, I love how you don’t let people get to you, but you really need to sit down and think your game over.
Don’t take this as me bashing you, but there were a few things I had to get off my chest. I love everyone that’s in our 254 group, and I’m happy we’ve made it this far, but there are certain things I don’t like in some people, and instead of trying ot leave it alone, I’ll say it here and let everyone here my opinion. I’m sure I have a lot of character flaws too, and feel free to speak them. I know my Honda sucks balls, but I don’t have the time or the drive to really up my game any faster. I’m taking it slow and easy.
There’s a few things that I DO know though.

I KNOW for a fact that everyone is getting better, I see Ray’s reaction has gotten better, and I’ve heard nothing but good things about Scott. We’re all progressing, just at different rates, but that doesn’t make us any worse.

When i made the comment that my Rog could fuck with your ryu it wasn’t nec. Saying I can beat him everytime I was just saying it’s not gonna be a walk in the park. I mean don’t get me wrong your ryu is fierce but unbeatable he is not. I mean hell Billy waxed ur ryu with guile. I mean I understand u had an “off” night but if your ryu was that god like it still would have took that. Not taking anything from billy cause he’s put on work, but I didn’t lose to billys guile at all that night. So if Billy can beat you shouldn’t that mean I should be able to as well? my brother. i dont really notice if im talkin about him to much. perhaps i do. for my whole life i’ve had little brother syndrom and i have something he can respect me at now. so i probably use him as an example. its more of brotherly rep than sa rep. i appologize if i bring him up too much.
thinking my game over… well let see… im probably strongest with balrog… well there goes that idea. lol. see my game isn’t bad, i find mix ups with my chars and see what works and what doesn’t. i examine the details of as much as i can. i can say that i see more oppotunities missed by people around me than me missing opportunities.
