Thought: In all of the DS Castlevania games you can trade items online with other players. Funny how in a download only online co-op only game you can’t do that at all. -_-
Damn Konami did you ever drop the ball.

If they did that, EVERYONE would have ALL the best gear, instead of what it is now.
FurryCurry: Not a problem.
Has anyone else noticed that Draculas A.I is harder on single player than it is on any of the Co-Op levels? I’ve had him spam the megido and triangle bs constantly on single player. However with 2-6 people he just chills and lets you hit him… or am I just imagining things.
Anyone know if dual master rings stack? I’m trying to max out Shanoa, and that’d help a lot.
Soul eater, mastery, chaos, sage-- all dual rings stack.
This is true. In multiplayer, he glows with a blue or red aura before every single attack, which gives you ample time to unload on his bitch ass. In single player, I had that son of a bitch do double Demonic Megiddo at the very start. Needless to say, my non-Final Guard having ass didn’t stand a chance.

All you need to do to max stuff with shanoa and jonathan is go into survival mode hard chapter 1 with 1x astral ring and 1x master ring.
Set whatever you want to level to down + b and backdash cancel away.
That’s just a symptom of the real problem: clearly best-in-slot items as opposed to real variety and meaningful gear choice. Ideally I should be able to choose between Death’s Scythe, Longinus, Valmanway, Yatsusuna, Holy Rod, etc. without any choice being hugely superior to the others.
The only thing that changes his behavior is difficulty selection and whether you have women on the team. He’s as likely to open the third phase of the fight with Demonic Megiddo online or off.
I have no hard evidence confirming this, but my own observation of Drac’s behavior suggests random selection of what ability to use when, in all three forms.
They do. From what I’ve read, the effect isn’t cumulative. It’s something like a 20% increase over having a single Master Ring.
I have two for Jonathan, and I’m going to keep them until I’ve levelled every sub-weapon EXCEPT the four I want to stick with in the end. For Shanoa, I took them off. She’s only got four spells, and in the course of playing as her (along with her superior MP regen compared to poor, pathetic Jonathan) you’re going to max them eventually.
It’s random. That’s observer bias talking.
Demonic Megiddo is easy to avoid, though the timing is slightly tight. Back to the flames, and the MOMENT they start to fade, backdash, followed by a second well-timed backdash immediately following.
Dr. B’s Dark Megiddo formed the supermassive black hole in the center of the Milky Way.
Welcome to pretty much every fuckin Iga made Metroidvania? Dudes games are dog shit. SOTN suffers from this very problem and that was made in 98 and he’s STILL doing this shit. At this point it’s not longer infuriating. It’s just sad.
Thanks for the tips on dodging the Megiddo. I’m still very certain that there is a longer delay between Drac’s attacks in a large group versus a small one, though. I’ll have to record a couple of runs to Youtube to compare and contrast.
**This is such a great game I love it.
I killed Dracula by myself earlier and got some gamerpic, now to take on hard mode! (after I do it in a group first)**
Oh I can relate. While there’s a part of me that likes the grind (probably a side effect of leveling spells back in Secret of Mana religiously whenever I got a new Mana Seed), ALL of me recognizes the grind as a rather detrimental game mechanic.
Dr. B’s clock after clearing Drac on hard? 31:00:00.
Exactly. There is no “Best Weapon” in the last three DS games. Though I don’t think OoE had weapon trading for obvious reasons. And where’s my Boss Rush mode?
Howcome sometimes when I go to multiplayer I can play survival mode on hard against the boss and other times I can only play on normal against others. Also why does that guy keep mentioning Dr. B in every single post.
I enjoy the false sense of accomplishment it gives me.
Secret of Mana was such a good game.
The other main problem that basing your game around grinding causes is that once you have the best stuff there is very little incentive to keep playing. They will release at least one DLC but people will max it out fast with all the good stuff they already have. If I have everything there needs to be something exciting to do besides grind a different character.
It’s probably because everyone in the room didn’t unlock Hard mode yet.
If the val/yasu weren’t the absolute top tier, I think it would be more balanced. For what it is, they did a good enough job. A sequel or a bigger release would be awesome though. It makes me miss PSO a lot.
Max leveled jonathan is actually really strong so is charlotte i think the only character that is really left behind once you get into best in slot and max leveled stuff is Shanoa.
Yeah. Shanoa is really good when you start the game though, since she doesn’t have very many things to level up. The main problem with her is that she has no real place to grow in terms of stats.
