Awwww shit.
Toonami, you know what you must do… MOVIE NIGHT.
Awwww shit.
Toonami, you know what you must do… MOVIE NIGHT.
Finally. Not that Japanese Bayonetta is bad, she’s quite good in fact (May even have to play Wii-Unetta 1 in Japanese at least once) but Bayonetta has one proper voice. It’s like Dante in the DMC Anime, the Japanese guy does a great job but still…At this point it’s Ruebin Langdon or bust. Yea even over Drew Combs and dudes know how much I love DMC1.
Nowhere in that link does it say it’s going to be dubbed by the same cast, so don’t get your hopes up
D’oh that’s true, I didn’t think of that. I’m gonna have faith for the time being. At least get Bayonetta and Jeanne.
I dont think dubbed Bayonetta is going to save the garbage known as that movie lol
As puncha said atleast get bayo and Jeanne.
Also is the movie actually bad? I have seen mixes opinions. Some say if you like the game the movie is fine, the movie is decent, or you have the obligated people who will bash it for basically mot being all the games cutscenes played put together for a movie
This is almost not a bad idea. I still watch the plane sequence where she and Jeanne meet for the “first” time in the current time and kick those angel’s asses
The movies alright. It’s not amazing, it’s not terrible, it’s decent. If you like the game there is a chance you may like the movie. Bout the best I can say. I like it, but yea I don’t think it’s fantastic or anything.
I liked some of the animation…and wakamoto as the antagonist was cool. otherwise really disappointing
also no fly me to the moon
Got a WII U…diff ready for this game to come out ASAP!
Well it is an adaptation. I think only recent cool game to anime adaptation I have seen is the Viewtiful Joe anime. Which I need to finish, well it ain’t recent but yeah lol But other times they are usually just decent enough
I’m pretty amped to get both games on WiiU at once.
Why did Nintendo have to give Platinum money to make Bayo 2 again?
did Bayo 1 not sell well?
Why would the supposedly best action game of last gen not sell well if it didnt?
What makes Bayonetta so great?
explain it to me in detail.
yeah, I’ve seen videos, I can see its like the DMC series regarding combos…but since I’ve never played it I wouldn’t know whats distinct about the core gameplay that makes it so addictive to you guys.
When I say, what makes the core of the gameplay so great in detail…I mean, like for example, if someone asks me, “What makes Shinobi ps2 so great?” I would explain saying, "First, the character never levels up. The same moves that you start the game with, are the same moves you end up with at the end of the game. What levels up is you, not the character. The game is about speed. Your ninja is weaker than every enemy in the game except for one singular attribute which is his speed. And speed kills. So you have to use that unmatched speed to kill a group or horde of enemies, in the order from weakest to strongest, all within a strict time limit of Tate, and to get through a stage as quickly as possible due to the time limit of his cursed ninja sword Akujiki. All of this makes for a fast, furious, frenetic game that rewards your skill for being as fast and efficient as possible with a grade of your performance at the completion of each stage. With S rank being the grade to shoot for."
That’s my reply to what makes that game so great.
Or if someone asks me, “What makes NG black such a great game?” I would reply “Your ninja character levels up but so do his weapons like in a rpg, which are all distinct and wildly varied and perform completely different martial arts. And each weapon has pluses and minuses depending on an enemy. Some weapons are much more useful than others against certain enemies and certain combos/techniques are more useful than others against those same enemies. Which means theres a lot to explore regarding the massive combo list. But the most important objective in the game is learning two distinct moves. The dodge roll and the well timed charging of your weapon while orbs of energy are out in the field of combat which is how you bring the gameplay down to its most efficient level. In other words, the management of the orbs out in the field of battle…which to take in for your health/magic, and which to deny absorbing into your ninja body but for the use of charging up your weapon for the sole purpose of disposing of your enemies in a quick efficient manner… is the sole essence of the game.” would be my reply.
so, that’s what I’m asking.
if someone can explain in detail what the essence of the gameplay about.
Bayo sold decent for a new IP, about 2 mil. Sega just didn’t trust the game to repeat or surpass salds if a sequel were made, so Nintendo came with the assist.
As far as gameplay, IMO control wise its a bit more simplified DMC, if you just wanna combo it up, but it has some moves and etc that require work to do some cool looking shit. The game revolves around a dodge mechanic which if you dodge at the correct time, you enter Witch Time(slo mo) during this period you move fast and deal more damage, think of it as Devil Trigger but activated off evasion. Since the game does penalize bit tough for taking damage, dying or using items its best you master dodging. Which basically sets the rhythm of each fight or boss fight. But while you can be stylish its not in the same manner as DMC, I personally like Bayonetta more than DMC, but not by a huge margin since the games are like bro and sis. The game also gives sorta an arcade-ish feel because you always have a desire to to back and improve your score. Plus lots of post game unlockables if you didn’t grind it out to get them in your first time in
Im on my phone so im a bit lazy to give more depth on gameplay. But another thing which makes Bayonetta great is the style, of her and the cast and they way things play out. The game is very over the top, and has some of the most fun boss fights, specifically the last Jeanne fight. Its kinda hard to explain, it a game you gotta play for yourself to really see. Watching wont do you much justice IMO, kinda like watching someone play an rpg, you can get the jist of the gameplay, but you gotta actually play to see how its diff from another rpg and to be immersed
Quality=/=Sales.
This game, despite not selling very well IS critically acclaimed by all reviewers.
While the rail shooter segments suck(there are 2 I believe), that is only one small part of an otherwise great game.
The game lacks quick time events except for a finishing move that will be used on bosses after depleting their or almost depleting it.
All of the fast paced action that you see is something that you play a direct part in. The game does not assist you unless you set the game to assist you(easy mode). However, you are unable to unlock all of the game’s content without playing the harder difficulties.
The boss fights are by far the best part of the game, and the boss fights are numerous. The environments are large and there are hidden areas that may house weapon parts that allow you to build a new weapon(each weapon will have 2 or 3 parts to be found).
There are other items to find in game that allow you to change the game experience(non-weapons), such as things that make the enemies smarter and tougher AND even items that get rid of the witch time feature that @DrellyFish mentioned.
The keypoint that Bayonetta hits is variety and replay value. There are so many reasons to beat this game again and again to discover all the in game content. Bayonetta even had a hidden boss fight that is the hardest in the game(where you literally fight Lucifer).
Most games are more movielike in nature, and they are not supposed to be like that. When you rewatch a movie, it will always be the same movie. But when you play a game, you want the experience to be different every time. Bayonetta makes sure that you have plenty of things to do.
When I want to explain to people exactly how over the top Bayonetta is, I always describe the a certain boss.
(Description doesn’t really describe anything accurately out of context but putting spoiler just in case)
“So there’s this boss, with a half mask and a monocle on the same side, and you’re both falling from the skies right…”
What makes Bayonetta so great compared to other combat/combo games, is that it:
Asked “why does firing a gun and doing a melee attack have to be two separate actions?” so it combined them, which really changes battle strategy a lot when you choose to use the firearms. When you attack with any weapon, you can always hold the attack button to, in the case of firearms, fire a shot, or in the case of other weapons, use some alternate attack. But when you stop firing, the combo still goes, plus later on in her strings she will aim her guns in different directions, so it can be used for crowd control. It is quite effective when combined with:
Dodge Offset which blends offense and defense into a single action. Basically you can cancel any combo string into a dodge, and if you hold the attack button you canceled on, you can actually continue your combo after the dodge. This is important because the strongest attacks are always the last hit of your strings. This is important for damage, crowd control, and style(which is certainly how the game wants you to play, stylishly)
Witch time, a time slow down mechanic that activates with a perfect dodge or a perfect parry, allowing you to momentarily counterattack with greatly increased hitstun and no fear of other attacks. This when combined with Dodge Offset can greatly maximize your damage and crowd control ability.
Absolutely massive weapon selection and loadout possibilities for a combat/combo game because of 11 unique weapons plus the possibility to equip some of them on your feet. It allows for a very customized playstyle and they pretty much all are worth using. There are situations where it would be easier to go with certain weapon setups, but in general, if you really just want to play with your favs, you can, you just may have to work a bit harder in a few instances.
Enemy design is fantastic and memorable. (Until MGR)The most fun fights I’ve had in an action game were vs Grace and Glory, a highly agile enemy pair that you fight several times throughout the game. Pretty much every enemy(except maybe the flaming angels) are really fun to fight and are really memorable not only in how they look, but the kind of attacks they have and their “attitudes”. IMO This is something DMC3/4, GoW, and Ninja Gaiden don’t have.
And finally, the way all of these things work together to allow the player stylish self-expression, which is probably the heart of the game.
Depends. Bayo1 had a lot of Capcom and Sega references. I loved every one of them. Who’s to say they won’t put a ton of Nintendo references in 2? Maybe even enough for a port to be improbable. Granted Platinum would weigh their options with other companies and wouldn’t go that far. But come on? Who would want a fungus to grow out of a wall and say “The Luca you’re looking for is in another castle.”
That comparison doesn’t really work though since neither of those companies own a console, whereas Nintendo does. There’s pretty much no point in hoping we’ll see it multi-platform at all. If it happens, it happens, but save yourself the depression and just don’t think about it lol
Thanks for the detailed explanations fellas.
