Capcom's Jojo's Bizarre Adventure fighting game is coming to PSN & XBLA. August 21/22, $19.99/1600

…guess I’ll wait till it’s on sale then. The cost is no longer justified imo. I still think it’s a good game. It’s just not a good value for the price. I’m sure others will disagree, but hey…I’ll spend my money as I @#^! well please and you can do the same with yours. I’ll be sure to watch streams and grab it when the price drops a little though.

Man I had no idea this game was coming out tomorrow. What an awesome surprise! $20 seems a bit high but I’ll be picking it up regardless.

Is there anywhere to find a complete list of changes for the PSX version? I think it’d be entertaining to read over all of them.

There is so many differences and changes you should consider it a different game. It literally is easier to compare Vampire Chronicle characters to their original arcade versions.

edit: If you think 20 dollars is too much. This game had price spike exactly like mvc2 did.

I know it’s essentially a different game. I couldn’t get supers out during tandems, s.Dios C>S doesn’t work, I couldn’t get Midlers C to combo to c harpoon.
I still just think it’d be an entertaining read. Is it so different from terrible porting, or were the changes somehow intentional?..if you know.

Yeah, alot of changes were intentional for it to be able to run on the psx. Like, the lower graphic quality, the cut animations, the stages not allowed to zoom out, the changed graphics on the tandems and supers.

So if the ps1 had a ram cart like the sega saturn in japan it could have been near arcade perfect then?

No, even if take the ram out consideration you’ll be switching SH-2 assembly to run on the R3000 assembly. Plus, you have to into account the bad programming which Capcom is known for.
Saturn Ports aren’t even arcade perfect even ones that used the same hardware(like the ST-V games).

Well guys, I’ve just tried out the Jojo demo from the JP PSN Store, and well, some results may vary. (Note: Main Menu and all its stuff was in English, lol.)

  1. The array of options are very basic and easy to use, including Max Gauges and such, lol.
  2. YES, there is a blood option (Under Screen Settings > Visual Expression [Original/Mild])
  3. You can only play as Jotaro, Avdol, Hol Horse and Dio in the demo, 3 stages for each of them. (You can skip “cut-scenes” in the options [On/Off]).
  4. The music in the game kinda sounds arrange-ish, and not from the arcade version as I remember . (IE-Same music, sounds a bit different though.)
  5. All 3 intro’s are there, and the load times are slightly minimal, but not as quick as the Arcade, but not too bad.

No Super Story Mode or anything, so yeah, its just a re-release with Arcade/Challenge/Training/Etc. (Couldn’t go into Multiplayer mode, because its a demo, lol.)

So yeah, that $20 is going somewhere…(And yes, the US PSN Store will have a demo too.) And then the same thing once it hits XBLA the next day.

I think I’ll stick to jojo on GGPO. I ~might~ get it for the training mode, but thats it.

some smart person at capcom remembered that the japanese usually say “guard” when we say block, and they thought it was necessary to change “guard cancel” into block cancel, in game. wow. what a waste of time and resources to change that.

some more stuff:

  • tandem times resemble the arcade version (shorter than dreamcast)
  • character select background is yellow/green (dreamcast) instead of purple/pink (like in the arcade)
  • the voices sound somewhat muffled, might be my sound setup here though, it’s pretty bad

that is super fucking gay

Everything sounds fine to me (plays like the arcade version for the most part, we knew we weren’t getting Super Story mode from the screenshots, training mode, can turn off filters and turn ON blood), I think the price for this game is clearly because of licensing issues, with perhaps a bit of Capcom simply banking on hardcore fans cashing in on this niche title. I just want to hear about the netcode at this point to be fully sold. How is the in game movelist? It was horrible before, this is a game I felt needs a good in game move list with its various Raging Demon styled supers.

Block Cancel…that name change is unfortunate, like Guard Cancel is hard to figure out…It’s pretty stupid, but not really a problem per say, just odd.

spotted some mistakes already, for example, the “how to play” says that advancing guard is used to “close the gap” to your opponent instead of pushing him back (although it can be argued that it does close gaps when you pushblock projectiles…)
from what i’ve heard, the movelist isn’t very good (didn’t take a look yet)

Im sure anythings better then the Dreamcast US movelist, but thats annoying if it doesn’t include any of the command normals and such. That’d be nice anyway. I’ll settle for every super and special move for each character being listed properly.

At least it looks like the arcade gameplay is intact, that’s all I wanted for offline sessions.

Still debating on whether to get this or not. Never played a Jojo’s game before. I might just wait for a bit…

I went ahead and downloaded the game(On PSN now, just search for it). Mainly playing this and Persona till TTT2 and DoA5 comes out.

just had my first game online and, drums the game is running noticably slower to mask the lag. -_-

What is Guard Cancel? Obvious Troll is Obvious

Can’t wait to get off work to pick this game up still ;-; time goes slower when you wish for it to go fast
