They already did in the early 90s.
Yup they also tried snowboarding on was it PS1 or PS2? Can’t remember…
I don’t think the Capcom USA thing means anything. I remember watching Spike’s TV gamin award and that they listed Gran Trumiso(sp?) as Sony USA. Doesn’t it make sense.
. its true that capcom wants to cater to the market in the u.s. basically, mega man, random actoin/adventure titles, dmc, RE, and etc. To tell you the truth i think it was good move. who knows maybe sooner or later they’ll do something fresh with the sf franchise. also truth betold. i am enjoying these pitiful rehashes. i use to hate when i was younger and they would come out with a tight ass fighter. And it would be on another system like dreamcast, and i would only have a n64 or ps1. Like 3s, MvC2, Garou, and few others. then after years since they came out. i own them now. not affording games that were good sucks.
First of all i work at a big game company with several subsidiarys world wide.
Whoever came up with the idea that Capcom Japan would sell the rights of Streetfighter to Capcom USA, has no clue of what hes talking about. Capcom owns the rights of StreetFighter, which means every single division of Capcom owns the rights to this IP too.
However there is a board of leaders (basically the higherups of the company) that decide if and where an IP is being used and which division is allowed to use it for development.
What this means now, is that the board did allow the subsidiary in the US to use the IP for creating the upcoming Anthology. This does NOT mean that Capcom USA can do whatever shit they like with the IP, and it does also NOT mean that they now own the IP.
Thats all there is to it.
Anyway it goes, in about 5 years I’ll be playing KOF XVI and most of SRK will still be talking about MvC2 tiers.
SF was done a while ago - just move on to the new shit folks.
why was this thread reborn at all?
Beats me. I thought everyone knew that Studio 8 was shut down. So Capcom USA having the rights doesn’t mean squat right now.
Maybe this is what they’ve been doing with the Street Fighter liscnece? Found it while browsing Google…
All I can hope at this point is that whatever they do, they don’t street-ify Street Fighter. I don’t think a 3D street fighter would be THAT bad, if handled correctly.
