there’s nothing innovative about these western genres like WRPGs, FPS, and RTS. they have appeared on PCs for a long time and now on consoles powerful enough to run them. if anything the whole industry is 5 years behind relying on milking sequels.

Damn. Whenever I mention Shin Megami Tensei, people jump straight to Persona. I realize it’s gotten very popular recently, but SMT has got much more to offer. I you liked Persona 3/4 at least try the remake of Persona 1 for PSP or Persona 2:EP(PSX). Those games don’t have the Highschool dating element or calendar…and are much better. lol

i didn’t say JRPGS didn’t have there imperfections lol. but i rather take that horrible cheesy laugh over a paled face emotionless doll.
final fantasy sucks period. modern jrpgs suck period. the only series that’s even fun gameplay wise anymore is Towhatever, and that’s just because of the battle system, the storyline more often than not starts cool enough but always goes to shit halfway through it.
Tree this, bad guy that, imprison who, etc.
FF nowadays if a comedy of errors.
Example: FF13, 12, 10, X-2’s existances are all an error. 11 and 14 too. But for different reasons.
The only two RPGs that exist imo are Chrono Trigger & Earthbound…
This thread is proof positive that many if not most SRK’ers like most other people who post on online forums have the habit if oversimplifying things due to not being able to and/or not wanting to make the effort of explaining something that isn’t so black and white.
Comments like “all games this gen are rehashes of last gen” or “jrpgs are innovative” just show how lazy and/or inept SRK is, apparently no one here besides one or two like specs value logic or any sort of sound reasoning in which to anchor one’s position, but hey it’s the internet that’s to be expected.
Dragon Quest 4,5,8,9 are great, Terranigma is great, Legand of Legaia is great, Legend of Dragoon Was great, Ogre Battle, Mario Rpg for Snes, Chrono Trigger, Vandal Hearts, Thousand Arms, Lunar, Jade Cocoon, The World Ends With you, Threads Of Fate, Parasite Eve, Star Ocean 1 and 2, I bet people who hate rpgs never even played these. Then again people keep saying Rpgs suck, then talk about Final Fantasy have no idea what their talking about, there are more rpgs then Final Fantasy, just shows how ignorant you are.

WRPGs are successful nowadays only because they changed (in a bad way) to cater to people who won’t even like the good old WRPGs.
JRPGs are the same as they used to be, only worse.
