Capcom: Replays are exclusive to the PlayStation Vita

I like this move, go Capcom! You are my favoritest company for all games!

That’s just straight up not true considering the fact that in Vanilla Brawl “Tournaments” the leaderboards were crawling with Snake and Metaknight players; however, Brawl+ had extensive playtesting and it was the general consensus that all of the characters had become somewhat, if not completely viable for competitive play. If UMvC3 got the Brawl+ treatment, we would be able to make a version where every character is a viable fighter for competitive play, something I recall being one of Capcom’s goals with this game. That doesn’t just have to be for competitive play either; a game where every character is viable (especially with such a large roster) would be more fun for everyone because the largest deciding factor in a victory would be skill and strategy, so everyone can use their favorite characters and play well. Also, aside from that, it would probably severely cut down on the “OMGZ LVL 4 X-FACTOR WESKER SO GDLK” complaints.

Of course, we are still speaking hypothetically. I fail to see how this would be an inferior game to what we have now.

I have a few problems with this.

  1. Brawl+ is not nearly as widely played as “Vanilla” Brawl is (Feel free to correct me if this is not true). Balance is something that’s deceptively hard to figure out. I’m not saying that Brawl+ isn’t balanced, but who knows? People thought Iceman was on top in Marvel 2 for a while, and see how that changed.
  2. While I think that all FGs should shoot for good balance, a balanced game isn’t necessarily “better” than an unbalanced one.
  3. Near the end, you imply that in an unbalanced game, there is less skill and strategy. That is simply not true. Skill and strategy is still present even in games like MvC2 or 3s. Picking a top tier team or Chun/Yun was not an automatic win button. If you wanted to win, strategy and skill was still required. Of course, this is not true for all unbalanced games, but still, a lack of balance != a lack or strategy.

I really think people should play the game as it is, instead of trying to “improve” it with balance hacks.

You make some good points, but there’s degrees. In my honest opinion (along with many other people) characters can fall to Wesker’s easier combos a little too easily. All I am trying to get across is that theoretically if the game was more balanced and bullshit mechanics like TACs weren’t in place for scrubs to abuse and annoy everyone with, we’d have a better game overall.

Need I remind you that I am speaking purely hypothetically? There’s really no feasible way for the players to hack UMvC3 as it is. When we play the game, we have no choice but to deal with the things that are presented along with it, like it or not. The only point I’m trying to get across is that given the opportunity to improve upon the game, I would definitely do so.

Yup, pretty much. I made that mistake when Fallout 3 came out. Great game, but a shitload of expensive DLC. Bought it all only to find out I spent 150$ on shit I could’ve gotten for only 60$.

Still better than the bullshit Capcom is pulling right now.

Brawl+ was a joke. All it did was try to make Brawl Melee 2.0. You want Melee, go play Melee.

On this subject, Vita-exclusive replays are dumb. It should have been in Vanilla in the first place. It’s a standard feature that’s in just about every fighting game released nowadays, and the Marvel team can’t figure out how to do console replays?

Except there’s the fact that Brawl+ was a lot more fun than Melee and was, in my honest opinion, the best Smash Bros game. And besides that, your claim seems a little misinformed seeing that there actually was a Brawl hack called Project M that was meant specifically to play like Melee…

Quoting from the Smash Bros Wiki:
“As of 2010, Brawl+ has had version 7.0.3 released, and the Brawl+ team has disbanded to finish Project M, a project to do what Brawl+ originally tried to do: make Super Smash Bros. Brawl act like Super Smash Bros. Melee.

Close enough.

So am I. Hypothetically, if we were gven the chance to change the game, we shouldn’t, because more balance being an improvement is questionable, and that we might as well get used to the fact that there are bullshit mechanics like XF and TACs.

Otherwise, I agree with you.

i think we should move away from all the smash talk and focus on capcom

Is capcom still not ripping us of? I cant wait to see the capcom defense force try to justify this.

If you buy the Vita version you’re only ripping yourself off. Capcom would be ripping you off if they did it in a way you wouldn’t notice you were being ripped off

Yeah, Capcom’s just doing their usual bullshitting with all the games they release. There’s always something…

My fingers remain crossed for a future patch that adds in replays as DLC. I heavily doubt it, though, given Capcom’s history with these things. Seriously, what the hell?

On the bright side, if they go the SF4 > Super > AE > 2012 route, the next version will only be 15 bucks and the one after will be free.

The rage rises even more!

I’m dying to see my friend who owns a vita and a ps3 play against me with his touch screen badass combos. hahaha.

:rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl:
1.Replays
2.Hitboxes

Three more features for Vita version and it’s “I can’t control it!!!” Pheonix XFactor level 3 gutpunch to MVC3 fans.
Truly shameless Capcom.

Replays I don’t give a shit about but hitboxes… god damn.

Why did they think this was a good idea? It seems like a lot of people might be getting behind Vita, but UMVC3 for Vita? Really? Who’s on board for that?
