Capcom New Years Resolution? Post your ideas cause they're listening now

bring back a stun meter so people stop wasting EX :frowning:

  1. No more Street Fighter games and no more fighting games with SFs in’em (versus games), for a while. Hand Ryu ass a Kit-Kat cuz that nigga need a break.
  2. Updated VSav (we got it!)
  3. Rival Schools 3
  4. Power Stone 3

Capcom, do it right in 2013. Make it the year of diversity.

That is a blatant dick, tho. Now that I look at it, that aint even subliminal.

The issue with SG DLC also is likely because it just isn’t popular so they don’t think people will buy DLC and both its publishers were/are being sued by EMI…

So I was watching Salty Cupcakes tonight and Mike Z was taking questions in the stream chat. He confirmed that the characters in SG do actually cost $200,000 to make. The things is he then said that this actually is extremely cheap compared to most other fighters and that they actually were able to get the characters done faster than most other games, including SF4. Supposedly there were SF4 characters that cost more than the entirety of Skullgirls and people were shocked at how they were able to do it.
If this turns out to be whats really going on than Im surprised. I mean, what happened with SNK? Is there a way to get this kind of information?
Also if its true than I REALLY want 2D darkstalkers…

The problem with 2D spritework is not up-front production cost - it’s the cost of altering existing work. It costs next to nothing to modify 3D models. To add a new move to a 2D character (for example) takes much more work. Not to mention that finding decent animators and artists is not easy (look at the mess that was HDR). Even Arcsys and SNK have gone the 3D route. Granted, ArcSys have said that somethings are faster to do if they are hand-drawn, but in the same breath he implies that 3D is just easier to work with and can produce better results.

It’s highly unlikely that you’re going to see a 2D sprite game again from a major production house.

Hmm…that’s a good point. I guess you certainly can’t just be adding new costumes and moves with 2D. It would be like making a new character. Couldn’t reuse anything

Still want 2D DS though. Oh well

Wait, who is suing the Skullgirls team?

I’d like to see more transparency and taking feedback into account. Did anyone know that Ryota Niitsumata and his team were working on Marvel during development? Or Dimps works on SF4? Or Iron Galaxy worked on 3S? We never seem to find out this information until a month or two before release. Think about all the major or somewhat minor game releases, we all find out during development what studio is working on what. Just seems weird that they hide that information.

It seems like they announce a game, then a few months later they take playable build to conventions and trade shows but it seems like the feedback isn’t really noted. You’d think the public reaction to gems would’ve been a hint not to include that feature but they went ahead anyway. The only time they really seemed to listen was the 2012 patch and maybe the Strekken patch. But it would be nice if they went with an open or closed beta setup and made changes for the better before the official release. As opposed to shoving the game out there and paying for patches and re-releasing the game with a few minor changes and ask for $40.

Lab Zero isn’t being sued, their publishers are:

Yeah, people used to be able to pass all sorts of shit on tv

I agree. There needs to be more transparency for fighters, period, for all companies. Capcom just has this weird idea for a hype machine that causes them to do the retarded things you mentioned.

I remember a good friend talking to Sven at SDCC and he asked him if they were gonna change how they configured their hype train cuz they are one of the most “secretive” companies when it comes to important projects and that has, at times, substantial negative impact on how the games turns out. He says the response was that, “they would be looking into changing alotta things”. It’s very hard to try to use fan input when you wait til’ the last minute to reveal a game, to "maximize excitement."

The cats probably didn’t appear because Disney owned the rights to them at the time of development. Now the creator bought back the rights so perhaps we could see them in a sequel… if it weren’t for Capcom’s license with Tatsunoko expiring.

Oh well. We can always dream.

Nurse Witch Komugi-chan is obviously priority number 1 for TvC2.

Stop wasting time on SFxT, its over. Learn from your mistakes and rebound in 2013.
Release new Darkstalkers.
Announce or release SF Alpha 4.
Release CVS2 and Alpha 3 on PSN/XboxLive with GGPO.
Megaman

The punchline is the part where he compares a studio like Capcom to a studio like Reverge

The point is that they won’t do sprites because they are more expensive and time consuming than 3d models.

Just because they are big enough to do it does not mean they will do it.

  • I hope Capcom focuses more on bringing out new games, and less on hiring a studio to do HD releases of their old games with a GGPO connection.
  • Prepare for DarkStalkers IV (please god, not some Handheld shit)
  • Release a real fucking Mega Man game, for once. I think this is the only character who has a 25th anniversary to get snubbed. Even Kirby got something.
  • Stop handing off your franchises to random studios who don’t have the best track record. (looking at DmC and Resident Evil)
  • Stop re-releasing patches of the game for 40 dollars just because it has DLC unlocked. Patch a game from start to a real sequel, not whatever the hell you do.

Summary: Capcom, change how you do business, and your sales might increase.

Disney owned the rights to Samurai Pizza Cats? Where’d you read that, out of curiosity?

I first found it out watching The Big Picture by MovieBob. Saban Entertainment was bought by Disney in 2001. Now Haim Saban bought back the rights for some of the North American licenses, including Samurai Pizza cats.

I can only ask for Capcom to respectfully bring back Onimusha / Resident-Evil / Devil May Cry. Make us proud console owners once again.

My PS2/PS1 library was 85% Capcom:
-Devil May Cry
-Devil May Cry 3 SE
-Onimusha:Warlords
-Onimusha 2: Samurai’s Destiny
-Onimusha 3
-Resident Evil: Code Veronica
-Resident Evil 4
-Street Fighter Anniversary Collection

-Resident Evil 1
-Resident Evil 2

Not Capcom
-Metal Gear Solid 2
-Metal Gear Solid 3
-Manhunt

-Metal Gear Solid 1

A new SF is something they should seriously consider in a decade…

I brought this up, and there was a good reason why this cannot happen. I was thinking for XCOTA to just be called “Children of the Atom” and XSF to be called something else… I think I said something like, “Xavier’s Mutants vs. Street Fighter” - so you can keep the XSF abbreviation… But Sven made a solid argument against this… But this was before MvCO came out that I brought this up, so I forget the details.

Almost this for me… Though I had a fair amount of Konami and SquareSoft in there…
PS1:
SFA1-3, SFC1, Rival Schools, Darkstalkers 3, Castlevania SotN and Chronicles, MGS, FF7-9, FFT, FFO, FFA, Tobal 1-2, Threads of Fate, Suikoden 1-2, Xenogears, etc…
PS2:
SFAC, SFAA, Onimusha 1-3, DMC1-3, Castlevania Lament, DDR all of them, MGS2-3, MGS2S, MGS3S (Yep had both versions of each…), Suikoden 3-5, FFX, FFX2,

And then a few random racing games, Wild Arms, Grandia, and Crash Bandicoot… Now I barely touch games by any of those companies.
